Losing interest in Lotus Flow3r

I'm beginning to lose interest in the project. The constant bread crumbing with no substance is getting old. Wake me up when the CD's are ready. Most of us are beyond this "where's fluffy" stuff. It is interesting sometimes when he does it in moderation, but this project is too much "hide the banana" for me. I know this is his MO, but some of it is just not being organized. I'm sure the music will be great. I'm also not looking forward to a tour that is 50% covers.

I feel what you are saying, however...it is just one of those things that has not quite folded out as we have wanted it to. As someone else said, I would rather wait a bit and make sure all the bugs are worked out and when it all opens up it will be ready!
Hang in there...I think it will be worth the wait. I am still very excited...But yes, very ready!!!

I really can't understand the tactics, or rather the lack of them, concerning this project.

The buzz has gone for many fans I guess...

The only plus is that the majority of people (who do not visit the org) have lost interest in Prince's music years ago, meaning that they were spared all the ridiculous "teasers" and probably will first visit the website when it is fully operative and the "meteor" fianlly has arrived its destination: "a whole new galaxy"

It is a pitty that the fans have to watch and observe these amateuristic struggles to start up a website in an interesting way.

Prince needs to get rid of his PR people...they are messing up his work..we all know Prince does not do this part of his work he advises and expects the PR Team to carry it out....they are just doing a very bad job...

Cut them loose... sad

Remind me, when did we first find out about lotus flower, mplsound albums and new website? A couple of months ago tops? Was it longer?

I know the whole Bria Valente Here I Come track etc has been bandied around since 3121.com was still going but the mplsound sample, and then the lotus flower, website 3 albums in 2009 in stores after the holidays etc was only in December wasn't it? confused
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

His PR people just don't have a clue ...how to stage things ...we all know Prince works and works .... just release a Press Release when they are ready to launch or release a promo for something... wink

Well, I think;/know there are many many fans that do not come here to talk. I know MANY personally....still loving Prince...just not coming here to talk.
I don't really mind so much how Prince conducts things or handles them. Yes, it is frustrating because I really want the site up and running, and I really want the music. But...I guess I will just have to chill and wait till it happens.

This is pretty much status quo for him, so we shouldn't be surprised. I was pretty excited on January 31 and thought things would be different, and then the site actually took a step backwards in my opinion. We all know for certain that the two CD's will be great and the obligatory booty call CD that he gave to his newest interest will be a pleasant surprise because we are not expecting much, but it will still be mediocre.

I'm just not feeling the stuff with announcing shows the day of and/or stringing us along with very a minimal amount to keep us going. Things have been pretty dry since the summer of 2007.

I'm looking forward to the new music. Let me know when they are ready.

WOW i miss HQ. I just wish that there was more communication from him to us about what is taking so long. I've read people say it's money. I don't think that is it, because if it was he wouldn't be having all the parties who knows. As of late though looking at his pics and reading reviews and such it seems that we might not be the only ones who are "over" it. Hey Prince leave L.A. it seems to be draining you and go back to the place where love flows. smile Home is where your heart is. There are still good times to be had. I know we fans can sound nagging at times but it all comes from love. We want the best for you really. <3

I dunno about anyone else, but, I still check back almost every day. I missed out on my chance to be active on his original site even though I paid for it. I was under the assumption it would be there forever. Now this site is free. But remembering the history of sites like 3121 and so forth, I'm going to be at this site as many times as I possibly can--updates or not. I really like the music that's there.

We could have nothing, you know. razz Thank the Lord he isn't pulling a Sade. Last time I heard anything from her, I was a Sophomore in high school. If Prince did that, I'm sure we'd be ripping the meat off his bones. (Kinda like now..what's different?! lol ) I can understand losing the buzz, though. I feel like that a little bit every time there's a slight change and nothing more. But he's doing it in his own way and I'm glad he's sharing something.

I don't mean to sound arrogant. Just stating that I'm losing interest, which is the sentiment of a lot of fans. I'll be there with my full support when this project is finally pulled together. Until then, I'm through trying to find fluffy.

My comment about Elixir is what it is. I'm not mad at the booty call CD's. I'd probably do the same thing if I could make music.

I have stopped going to his site. Nothing is new and nothing changes. I'll visit when I hear it is all open. IMO, when it opens up, we'll all know about it. BTW, you missed nothing on the 3121 site. I can't even recall what was on it.

Prince/Mr.Nelson:

Please stop teasing me and get the website up and running with more than pictures of Bria and newspaper clippings and music teases. As a loyal member of the family, please its not nice to keep a woman waiting for the climax!

In retrospect, the internet has been a bad thing for Prince. He used to communicate to his fans via his CD's and through live performances. The internet has given him another medium that has really taken away from his legacy with fans because the internet is hard to harness and makes it hard for him to channel his immense talent and deliver a product to his fans. In some ways it makes it easier, but sometimes having too many possibilities can lead to inconsistent goals and results.

The internet has been good to Prince financially and in terms of his freedom, so it has served its purpose there. But, we would have more and better Prince CD's in our hands if it didn't exist.

I'm with Donny on this, it's dragging on too long. If he'd put the original teaser up when he did and it said, March '09, I'd still be excited and hyped for the project. Nobody would be complaining about it as we'd all know where we stand. As it is, it's starting to feel old already. Maybe if it hadn't had the date of January 31st along with the tag line of, a new universe awaits, it would have been better? If it was just a date with no mention of a universe, then it would also be less disappointing for me now.

Also, if he hadn't said in an interview, all 3 albums would hit the internet and a big box retailer as soon as the holidays are over, it would have been better too. lol

Obviously I'll be really pleased when it's finished and we get some new music etc. Hopefully not long now.

Not losing interest in the project(s) but the tease thing doesn't work on me anymore. I guess I'm officially old or something. My silent protest is to visit HQ everyday to see the goodbye page and only go to lotusflow3r when someone here indicates there is an actual change. Yep, I'm old.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that on March 8th (3/8) we will see a revised or second (II) version of the site. Ergo....38:II

Then again...what do I know! lol cool

I for one am not losing any interest in the site.
I like going there once a day hoping for something new.
I am sure once all the kinks are worked out all will FLOW.
We are so spoiled with the internet and having everything NOW.
It's nice to know surprises are on the way.
Take your time P. get it right. I can wait.

Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

since people are mentioning Prince's PR team..they can only do what Prince tells them to do - and the problem with that is that Prince likes to do things spontaneously....also the problem with the website isn't that it isn't ready - but that Prince is constantly changing things- wanting things done in a timespace that only one who believes that time is a trick would expect...I pity the web designers...from what I have heard, they'll be working hard for their $$...Prince lives in another galaxy, for good or bad, that is something that Prince has always had as an MO....and as much as I respect his talent - he has no respect for other peoples time or talent....I don't know how sam jennings lasted so long...no matter what people's opinion is of sam, he worked damn hard to meet impossible deadlines....but thats how it is when u work for a character like Prince...

It's not about having it now, it's about knowing when. Even in the pre-internet days, if someone had said that something big was coming on 31st January and sod all happened, we'd start to lose interest.

If he'd just said, it'll happen in March, nobody would be getting bored now.

I'm not losing any interest in Lotus Flower at all. This site will run when it's time for it to run. It would have been better if Prince didn't put a date on the start of the site but plans change and we don't know what happened to make this site not be fully operational. Regardless of that, I'm not in a rush for this site to start. Might also be that I have so many things happening in my life outside of the Purple World that it helps me not to be bent out of shape over this but that's just me. It'll open soon enough and when it does, I'll be there.

I'm definitely not losing interest - I never had any to begin with.

I went there a couple of hours after it 'launched' and was seriously underwhelmed. Keep going back every few days to check if there has been progress.
When it actually does something, say sell music, announce tour dates, whatever, I'll be interested. Until then, bored

Well there isn't much there 2 lose interest in.

It's not what the site will ultimately be, but more of a "coming soon 2 a theatre near U".

I am losing interest in checking in on the site, though, but still check it nearly daily.

When it all goes down, and the site is up, I have a feeling we'll all "forget" about the waiting process.

PEACE.

I never check on the site unless it has changed. For this we have the org, which I do check in on regularly. I rely on posts here to let me know when lotusflow3r changes. At worst the changes seem to be posted here about 5 seconds after they happen. This is a very good thing. biggrin
