That is 5 x 2 x $10 convenience fee per tic = $100 saved
$100 - $25 fee = a 300% net return on my initial investment.

AND OH YEAH I FORGOT --- I SAT IN THE 5th TO THE 10th ROW EVERY SHOW.

so ya all can chew on that tidbit

Prince's official Web site, NPGMusicClub.com, closed suddenly last week with no advanced notice. The club simply sent around an email that said, in part, they decided to "put the club on hiatus until further notice."

The announcement went on to say, "In its current [form] there is a feeling that the NPGMC gone as far as it can go." It ended, "The future holds nothing but endless opportunity and we plan on seizing it wholeheartedly. Don't u want 2 come?"

In a possibly related story, Prince filed for a trademark on the mark "NPG Music Club" last year. An opposition was filed against that claim by HM Publishers Holding Limited, which owns the Nature Publishing Group, or NPG. The opposition was filed on the same day that NPGMusicClub.com was put on "hiatus."
An attorney for Prince's company, Paisley Park Enterprises, told TMZ that the two incidents were not related, to the best of his knowledge, and that the "opposition will be resolved shortly."

Prince has been one of the pioneers of music on the Internet. He was the first major artist to release an entire album -- 1997's "Crystal Ball" -- exclusively on the Web. The NPG Music Club had boasted several full-length CDs of music that were unavailable anywhere else.

He was honored last month with a Webby Lifetime Achievement Award. "Besides being a musical genius, Prince is a visionary who recognized early on that the web would completely change how we experience music," said Tiffany Shlain, founder of The Webby Awards. Umm i've only began listening to Prince's music about a year or two ago(before then my dad over played his music when i was a kid and i hated it with passion), so maybe that is why i have my response. It seems like everyone else has been a fan much longer than i have. (I have a feeling someone may comment on this...) Anyway, now to the point:

I can empathize with many fans here who feel betrayed, but at the same time, if i were to accomplish my dream(s) and eventually run into trouble that i didn't want anyone to know about (before they need to know) and i read most of what was posted, i would feel betrayed also.

I think most celebrities are just like normal people, only significantly talented. They are suceptable to the same temptations as you and I, they are capable of reform as you and I, and they make mistakes like you and I.

Many view Prince as a family member. Well, would you purposely verbally hurt a family member (Not counting if it were a sibling relationship)?

It is like " Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" (I know it's coming...)

Anyway, if some must act, why not prepare to back him up if asks?

1- The downloads were played out. The downloading had its day & unless a bunch of new recordings were offered the sales weren't going to pick up. It would be cost effective to end it. Also in 6 months bring out the downloads on cd & sell them to your fans all over again.
End the NPGMC & resell the downloads as cds.

2- Prince has visions of a single club performance site instead of touring & the tickets for NPGMC members in a club situation could become a nightmare. If you don't have the NPGMC you don't have that problem.
End the NPGMC & end NPGMC members ticket headaches.

Some people on this thread should be spanked or given some top notch anti-psychotic.

While this legal wrangling is unfortunate, it is at worst a temporary setback. Prince will want your money again, so don't worry. NPG or not, a new site will open and you'll once again be able to open your wallet if not your heart.

How long can a generation stay "new" anyway? Good riddance.

I for one think I can do without the club for a few months at the very least.
