i get the feeling prince is looking for "trends" in the responses so he can get an idea for the direction of his next project. they just put the song out there to get the comments. that's my wild guess, anyway.

yeah...and hopefully people are being absolutely genuine and honest in their comments there, too. from what i saw last night on the little comment box-thing on that page the majority of the commentary was totally on the "you can do no wrong, prince!" train. there was a few flashes of constructive criticism here n'there, but still WAY too much rooty-rooty-butt-kiss. lol

if prince is looking for trends here, i'd tell 'im that he's looking in the wrong direction.

I like it thus far, needs guitar and yeah Sheila on this would kick ass, lovin the ole skool 80's rawness, but for real tho you know if he cuts this he ain't gonna leave it alone, he's gonna tweak the vocals add some funky sound and probably go over the top like he always does lol

whatever i am just happy to have something new.

I said he needed to mention my name in the lyrics...he could have closed down the thread after that nugget of wisdom. nod

Aside from its relative rawness, there really isn't anything remotedly special about this track. I'm afraid that, at this point, the only thing that could wow people and fans alike is a genuine rock album.

Or he could put my name in the lyrics...that would get today's kids jumpin. nod

By the way...this "demo" sounds a lot like it could be titled "Cybersingle, pt. 2"...well, except for the fact that "Cybersingle" mentioned my name in the lyrics.

Thx for posting the link; it worked! But how do you actually get there from the NPGMC main page?

the intro page - where you log in - has a big graphic for the demo room. just click somewhere on there and i'm sure it'll take you right to it.

as for where it's found in the site's regular architecture? no clue.

The vocals R slammin'. He hasn't used those voices, in that way, in ages... and man does it work here. Pure Prince.

Strong chorus. Strong hook.

It really doesn't need 2 much.

A) Lower the pitch of the bell.

B) Add a Linn handclap every 8 beats.

C) Add a serious Funk Bass line... Thumb and pop... Minneapolis style.

D) Add Funk Guitar with Hohner (of course).

E) Add some piano.

F) Add Blues guitar solo... clean or dirty.

G) Minimal horns optional, but must be real... I hear swells followed by one or 2 staccato hits.

BAM. There it is.

Peace.

same shit diffrent day. Big Deal! :jurk:
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

So is this a new room at the NPGMC? (I hardly ever go there).

I hope this is a regular thing - just the odd track or work-in-progress that we get to hear snippets of. nod

My advice:

In the background, use the music of Moonbeam Levels. It would work perfectly, trust me.
Now, include the vocals of Moonbeam Levels. Yeah, that's it.
OK, now remove the vocals of Feel Better.
Finally, remove the music of Feel Better.
Now release.
