Perhaps if enough people tell them, they will listen to us, at least for this one track.

Any idea what happened with Mac compatibility? Though it was a bit of a hassle before, the tracks were playable on my Mac. I can't get SST to work at all and, going back to my older downloaded tracks, none of them will play anymore.

Well, it took me quite a while this morning but finally I managed to have it working on my Mac even though I haven't managed downloading it.
I followed some advice I read on the npgmc forum but only partially.
What I did is:
-as nothing was happening using IE I opened the Musicology Store Page using Safari (which I had selected as the default browser)
-I went to the Ur Account Page were I already had "STT" listed as I had bought it already
-I clicked on the download link but I chose "Open link in a new Page" instead of "Save link to disk"
-the browsr opened a new window and then I was given the message that I had been given the DRM licence for the file
-I did the "Open link in a new window thing again" and at this point WMP9 was launched
-WMP9 couldn't play the song because of a codec error with a very long name
-I did change the Default Browser setting again and chose IE
-I quitted Safari
-I opened the Ur Account page in the Musicology Store using IE
-I clicked again on "Open link in a new window
-I already had the DRM licence downloaded (having done it with Safari before) so WMP9 was launched and the program started buffering the song and then I could listen to it
-at this point I still didn't have the song downloaded so I decided to try and record it using Audio Hijack
-I launched Audio Hijack
-in the left window I selected WMP in my presets
-in the right window I unchecked the box saying "Open URL/File/AppleScript" because this way Audio Hijack records whatever goes through the application you have selected
-to hijack the application Audio Hijack has to quit it and restart it
-after that I went back to the Ur Account page and once again I clicked "Open link in a new page"
-the file started buffering and I skipped to Audio Hijack to press the record button.

It did work.

lulirom, thanks for posting what steps you went through to get the file to work -- I can't get it to work at all. Whether I have Safari or IE set as my default browser, Windows Media Player always tells me "Cannot open the file. Verify that the path and filename are correct and try again" when I try to open the track. I've downloaded the track and tried opening it in WMP, I've tried "open link in new window" instead of downloading it like lulirom did, and neither method works.

In Safari, the file that downloaded was simply named "metagen" (but the file size was right -- about 5 mb). In IE, the file that downloaded was named "e-npgmc-npgmc2004-sst_prince.wma" -- but neither file will play.

Guess it's time to find a PC somewhere that has a CD burner...

BTW, I'm running OS X 10.4.2 and the latest versions of Safari, IE and WMP.

Like others have posted, the downloads used to work fine for me. And, like lulirom, in the past I used Audio Hijack to get the audio files into iTunes. Worked before, but not now.

I also have the file downloaded but trying to play that gets the same results. As with Doozer, everyting is as up to date on my machine as it can be.

I certainly don't have a problem with spending the 77 cents, but I'm frustrated by the missed opportunity for Prince to truly make an impact with this song (whatever it sounds like!).

I was able to get it to work in a manner similar to lulirom. Here's what I did.

-Purchased and downloaded track in Safari. It looked initially like it was downloading metagen, but then switched to the proper file name.
-Opened file in WMP, which brought up Safari, said that I had a license, however it still wouldn't play.
-Changed default browser to IE.
-Opened file in WMP, brought up IE, had to verify my username and stuff, told me I had a license.
-Opened file again in WMP, this time it played.
-Audio Hijack for the rest

I find it hard to belive that Prince doesn't use a Mac to make music on. You'd think that he'd like to make his shop Mac compatible. Not that hard really.

mp3/mp4, heck even a good quality real player file would be cross platform. The best situation would be to offer the tracks as .FLAC files. They are the business.
