NPGMC: Cinnamon Girl, Call My Name, Dolphin Videos in Cyberclips

Three new Prince video clips have been added to the Cyberclips room - Cinnamon Girl, Call My Name and Dolphin.

The Jill Scott video for "Golden" has also been posted.

How does he have the right to put "Jill Scott" on his website? Is she affiliated now or something.

Now, don't get me wrong. She's a nice enough person, but that song is fucking awful. How many times can you repeat the same line?

Simple answer....because he CAN...he's Prince and can put anyone's CD on his website that he chooses..by the way..Jill Scott is cool...

Wow, I love Dolphin, but never saw the video! How awsome was the scaled down NPG band? I miss that band. Morris and Tommy playing keys on the bed was so hilarious! ANybody else notice prince has changed little between 95's dolphin and 04's Call my Name?

Thought Cinnamon Girl was a fantastic video - love the way it looks and the story it tells. Might be too "heavy" of a vid 4 MTV to play though - the teenie boppers won't be able to handle it nor understand what its really saying unfortunately

"Golden" is a beautiful song and video....quite uplifting

I was brought out of my Princeless stupor when I saw about the Cinnamon Girl video this morning on the Early Show. I didnt even know he had made a video.

I only saw the conbtroversial clips, but what I do know is this. I think the video only serves to perpetuate stereotypes of Arabs further. AS someone who is Muslim but not Arab I can safelt say that most Arab Americans who are harassed just want to clock somebody in the nose. The vast majority don't fantasize about blowing up something. This video kind of makes it seem like the first things Arabs think about is blowing something up when they get angry. Often a punch in the nose will suffice. Also, if you really want to extrapolate from this video you could interpret it as saying "most suicidde bombers were picked on as kids" and that's why they are driven to these actions...which I think is utter crap.

Also, I think they played it safe by showing an Arab American and not a Muslim. If the girl had worn a headscarf, this video would be getting a lot more flack. Yet it's mainly girls with headscarves, and not "tan girls" who get harassed. But I understand wanting to play it safe.

I think music videos are a bad place for political commentary since there is only 3 minutes to cover an issue that deserves far more time. In the end most people walk away saying, "OK, yeah, harassment is wrong and we KNEW that...but what the hell was that?!"
