Well, Prince sure proved me wrong. I didn't think he could sell out arenas like this any more. I don't know how many shows are sold out, but it sure seems like a lot. 5 arena shows in LA is sure a bunch of tickets.

Eric Leeds was quoted recently as saying that Prince has accepted that isn't going to be selling out arenas any longer. I guess Prince hasn't accepted it...the little guy never fails to surprise me.

It is nice to know that there are still a lot of big Prince fans out there, just under the surface. When Prince does a lot of publicity in the mass media, he tends to reach these people and they come out and support him and enjoy the show.

Prince should make millions and millions of dollars this year from his touring, which is great. The more money he has, the less he has to worry about it, and the more artistic freedom it buys him. Plus, he will probably buy some cool stuff and go on some fun vacations, which is good....he's given the world so much happiness through his music that I hope he enjoys life as much as possible.

Is there a reason why I'm not getting notices from NPGMC?

Just checked again and still nothing from NPGMC on the 6/3 show.
Ticketmaster has them for sale though.

really.. lets be honest this MIGHT be the biggiest story in music in 10-15-20 years.

I can't remember anyone else honestly who is having a tour.. Backstreet Boys at their Peak, anyone at their first-fame peak that sold out 4 1/2 Shows in the same city in a 20,000 seat arena!

almost 5 shows!! eek

NOT saying this as a Prince Fan... honestly is there anyone else that has done this.. lets not even bring up the guy is 45 years old, has had NO radio play for basically 8 years, no mtv play really for 10 years.

whoelse even with all that and lets say 23 years old going through their first fame has sold out a place like Staples Center with 20,000 seats 5 times in less then 4 months?????
eek

The Music Industry behind the scenes must be in shock

Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, and The Rolling Stones all played multiple arena/stadium dates in the L.A. area recently.

Prince is definitely packin' 'em in, though. The only thing missing from his portfolio right now is an absolutely killer album, which, alas, Musicology is not.

Well, not according to the industry standard, Rolling Stone, which just gave Musicology 4 Stars. Regardless of what you think of the album, I truly think it's his strongest effort in an age.

Cheers,

I don't have time to listen to new music, I've got too much old Prince to discover. Classic example : I was at club Nokia at the midnight show and didn't know "In a large room with no lights" . . . my bad Prince

It doesn't make sense, musically, to do 6 shows in one area. He's playing to the same people who come to more than 1 show, so it's not like he's making new fans by playing so many shows.

I think it's an ego thing. He's trying to break some kind of record.

Not necessarily. Maxwell does no less than four, but usually six shows in DC. Having gone to more than one, I can vouch for the fact that the audience is not primarily the same group of people each show. There are only so many seats in the venue, but waaaaay more people that want to see him live.

If the demand is there, why not supply the event? Just a thought. bunny2
