You're welcome! She also resumed Music Mondays today. Here's the link to the show if you missed it. She sang "Hooked", Miguel's "Adorn"and did a short Q&A www.facebook.com/andyallo...605075197/

i really enjoyed that concert, was this done in 2010? i am unclear on the year. how old

was she then. ok so she says in the interview portion that she had just started playing guitar.

i am assuming she wrote the lyrics. i know very little about her beginnings how he discovered

her and what not. was she on you tube singing accapella and he saw her? was she just a singer

singing covers and then after she learned guitar she started putting music to her poetry? thx.

I did too. I think it was a nice special and I enjoyed the interview segments as well. It was interesting to see what she was doing before she met Prince. I had never seen it before and I'm glad Demand Africa made it available. It originally aired August 1st 2010 and according to a post on Andy's Facebook,it was recorded June 11th 2010. She was 21. Yes,she wrote the majority of the songs on her first album "UnFresh", though she collaborated with Blu and Mind Majors on a few songs. Here's an interview from 2010 where she talked about financing the album www.cocoafly.com/2010/01/...-allo.html Dr Funk said on a podcast in 2016 that she first came to Prince's attention when he saw her perform at a club in L.A. and liked her covers of "Let's Get It On" and "Waiting In Vain." and asked her to perform them with him at The Troubadour. The CEO of The Africa Channel wrote a bit about his time with Prince and the night that he invited Andy to an after party at Prince's home, where she said they were formally introduced and she performed with him for the first time. www.theafricachannel.com/...th-prince/ I also came across an interview from late 2010 where she discussed recording UnFresh and more about her beginnings. www.twintalkcast.com/podc...0Angel.mp3

You're welcome. Yes,the songs she performed on the Africa Channel are from her 2009 album UnFresh. I agree. "Hooked" is a favorite of mine. She said in the audio interview from 2010 that she wrote it with the guy she was seeing at the time. She has the album on her Youtube channel if you'd like to check it out.

she spoke of trying to loose her camaroonian accent when she arrived here.

i would love to hear her speak with her accent. Are her parents still married.

and she said her brother comes from a family of lots of kids. ???? not sure of family

structure. i have her 2nd album and i didn't realize unfresh was the first.

Good for her for getting her first album on her own!!!! she has an amazing

cackle of a laugh, i like when people almost holler when they laugh.

There are two interviews on Youtube where she spoke briefly with her accent and used pidgin English native to her father's town of Santa in Bamenda,Cameroon. Her parents are divorced and her dad had re-married and was living in the States last year but not sure about now. What she said about her brother coming from a family of lots of kids made me wonder what she meant by that as well.I thought maybe that she may have meant that he had a lot of kids of his own. I believe that her brother Chris has two children and her other brother Bryan has mentioned that he is a dad. Yes, putting together her first album herself and financing it was quite an accomplishment for a 20 year old! I first got the album in the summer of 2011 out of curiosity after she joined The NPG and I really liked it! I agree about her laugh. smile

Pink i love her Cameroonian accent, how awful the pressure to
Fit in can be when your a kid. I was so happy she still has it. It is very
Alluring and becoming she should use it more often. Thanks again! For filling in some blanks!

You're welcome! I love it too and that's very true! She said in other interviews that she learned to speak with an American accent by watching TV shows. I agree. She said in the 2013 interview with The Baub Show that it came back when she was hanging out with other Cameroonians.

Andy started her Stage It show with a few songs from UnFresh and followed with a nice rendition of "Rock and Roll Love Affair", two songs from her Hello EP and ended with a beautiful version of her unreleased song "Time Heals All Wounds" and a bit of "Oui Can Luv" before running out of time and being cut off. Someone asked when the video for "Man In Black" will be released and she said that she is still looking for the right outlet for it. She also said that she has been recording some music and hopes to release a new song before the end of the year. She said it will be in the genre of smooth r&b."Long Gone" and "Time" were originally on the setlist but were omitted. The full setlist:

Conclusions

Come Home To Me

Knew You At All

RNRLA

Fighter

Don't Ever Say

Time Heals All Wounds

Oui Can Luv
