If they play clubs stateside they will sell out. Another tribute is selling out clubs. The NPG will have no problem.

Apologies beforehand

I'm not familiar with all the aged versions of people here

Who's in the band?

I can only determine

Morris
Levi?
Kirk

From all reports the club shows they did in Europe were very funky. I think the original NPG members coming down to Australia are Kirk, Damon, Tony M with longtime NPG keyboard player/MD Morris Hayes who was obviously with Prince for many many years.

Thank you.

I didn't figure they'd do FB, assumed it was no longer "hip".
I'm not digging this Mackenzie guy....but then again i only saw KISS.

He sounded like bad karaoke...straining even.
I could do better, (but it'd be imitating as well)...I'll check out the other times when it's not half past midnight

The Peach and Black guys will be there. Their interview with Morris Hayes is mind blowing. They didn't ask many music questions but there I blame Captain. hehe.

Mono needs to team up with Buckethead. Good match music styles.

There is the NPG show at the Bluesfest and then there is the other tribute show "Nothing compares to Prince" which has Prince's sister coming out to Australia as well.
These shows are about cashing in on the Prince legacy.
Look at who is playing in each line up, a long term collaborator each (Morris Hayes/Kirk J, and Cassandra O'Neil, respectively) but otherwise people who were not associated with Prince or former short term proteges/band members.

Too bad Outback Steakhouse has absolutely nothing to do with Australia LOL

American restaurant serving American food, why do people even think it's Australian ?

Hi Purple Peeps,

Went to the Sydney concert tonight.

Pluses

- They were absolutely fantastic and funky. Great musicians, great vocals, great fun! Kip Blackshire was incredible, Andre Cymone was great and looks amazingly fit, Tamar was a ball of energy (although she speaks like Minnie Mouse), and Mackenzie will be a rock star - he has huge stage presence. His moves were a mix of MJ and Michael Hutchence.

- The music. 'Nuff said.

Minuses - Very little, but for me too much "Wave your hands in the air", "Everybody clap now", Tony M's rap.

I would highly recommend them to everyone but understand some people don't like these "tribute acts" and only want to see his songs performed by him.

Love to all,

KevinB

Sydney concert was way better then I expected. I was worried it would be Prince Karaoke, but by changing the vocalist often, nobody was over-profiling themself or 'pretending' to be Prince. The music was as tight as ever and the whole feeling was celebratory. It just allowed the fans to feel that feeling again as with the ausdience and band being more of a community.

The band members were very approachable and gracious at the afterparty at the Bank Hotel.

Saw the second Byron Bay Bluesfest show last night. Great stuff. As close as we will ever get to a true Prince experience again. My respect for all these guys increased ten fold. Mr. Hayes is an outright legend.
