I was actually shocked when I read that the "Official Platinum Seats" are not re-sale tickets, but are being sold for the first time at ridiculous prices directly from TicketMaster! What??? I really don't think Prince would approve of this. I wish we could go back to the days when we easily bought ticket through the fan club. We didn't know where we would be sitting until the night of the show when we picked up our tickets, but it didn't matter, because we always knew that the fan club members were getting the best seats. And there wasn't any scalping going on because they didn't know theseat locations, so scalpers couldn't sell the tickets. This will be the first local show I haven't been able to go to.

But scalpers were still joining the NPGMC...

They seem to still have those overpriced seats available. Wondering if the prices might drop if nobody bites. 1200?

There can be contractual issues if he plays within a certain number of miles. Then he does a private show or something.

if its the same promoter it doesnt matter otherwise udualy 90 milies

A lot of the time in Melbourne he stood at the piano!

Good luck, Californian org-ers; if you're any sort of fan, you'll want to have seen this. And if you're not a fan it will turn you into one.

Thanks, Astasheiks!

I've never been disappointed so far, and I believe this is either the 12th or 13th time I've seen him. Wouldn't have missed it for the world, and spent about 1/3 of a month's rent to go, but I know I'll never regret it! smile

Yes but I don't remember them selling them for much because they didn't know where the seats were located. They could be in the front row, they could be in the 15th row--big difference in potential price to a scalper.

And for TM to do this--it just doesn't seem right, they aren't secondary tickets.

Also, I took a screenshot yesterday of the premium tickets to show someone waht TM was doing, and I just looked at the available tickets now. As the premium jacked tickets have been selling, TicketMaster has been adding more premium tickets for sale!! All 9 pairs of orchestra seats for sale for the 10pm show are newly listed--they weren't listed yesterday. This is terrible for fans.

I just took a peek at TM out of curiosity. The premium seats they are selling are 5 seats to the right of my seat! This is absolutely ridiculous!

ill explain how the ticketing as ive worked for over 30 years in the bussiness and done shows at the fox

first prince and the promoter sets the price not ticketmaster only ticketmaster sells what they are given, they make there money off there fees but so does prince and the promoter as ticketmaster gives a kickback to them and the venue thats why there so high

now about the platnium tickits the reason there not called scalping his own tickets prince wich is what he is actualy doing is becuae hes the first issuer of the tickets so face value will what ever they sell on the platnium exchange , it will list the 1200$ or what you pay for them.when someone buys some they just put more in there, and they do flex pricing.

now if they dont sell they will be sold at regular price , they are holding back a bunch its the old fake sellout to make you buy the more expensive tickets,

really tickets cost 97$ to 1200$ , not 97-300$ its just bait and switch.

hope that helps

this is how all concerts work now but belive me prince knows all about this and the reason he is doing paperless tickets is so he gets you to pay 1200$ a tickets becuase if brookers bought it it would be alot cheaper to get in.

prince approves and knows all about it, hes getting paid with your money. he sets the price.its all in the contracs.

Several years ago,I made the decision that I won't pay more than $100 to see any artist in concert. This whole "secondary market" thing is getting out of control. If I was gonna pay $300 or more to see a show,I'd better get a free T-shirt,tourbook and a backstage pass too biggrin

Same. I love experiencing music live and have been to hundreds of shows, but $100 is my limit - which is why I haven't seen Prince live since the Musicology Tour - he has had no shows within a few hours of me for $100 or less for years sad

I have been a Prince fan since about 1980 - grew up with his music, but he is pricing A LOT of fans out. I just paid about $45 for a ticket to see Esperanza Spalding and a bit less for an Alice Smith show. Those are fair prices.

It isn't priceless if a person has to choose between outrageously inflated prices for a concert or being able to pay for rent and food.

Luckily, there were $97 tickets available when I went online. When I logged on at 12 noon, I went straight to the 10pm show and selected the $97 ticket option and got 2 tickets in row U. I know this isnt by the stage but the Paramount isnt that big either. I am on a budget too as over $600 for 2 tickets was a bit too much for me.

Well, you were one of the lucky few who were offered a ticket at that price.

I got two rw z nosebleeds to come up but no way was i going to pay for those & probably not see or hear anything. I ended up getting RW O which i think is the last RW of the 2nd balcony section. Not bad, not great & I had to pay $200 apiece for those. Waay more than I wanted to spend but once the show starts I won't think twice about the price.

Anyone know what the sound is like in the Paramount? I haven't been since ONA Tour 02 & we were in nosbleeders then.

I feel for ya'll who didn't get a ticket but I feel confident he'll play more this week.

just a heads up for anyone who asnt been to the fox before , they sound is really bad, notsure how it will be for just a one person band also most off the orchestra is over a overhang of the balocony wich is also very bad,

the orchestra is on a steep up deppending on what row you are on. so like 10 rows all the same hieght, then the next 10 raused up , and so on and so on.anywhere past the first 15 rows on the floor are preety bad.

usualy the floor is general admision and you get wristband for the floor

Prince is playing at the Paramount theater this time; he played at the Fox in 2013. The sound in the balcony at the Fox was pretty good from what I remember.

This morning there were still platinum tickets for both shows on TicketMaster. They dropped the prices a little bit. Now all the tickets for both shows are gone.
