2nd show started with Love Thy Will Be Done which was great. Then quite similar to first show. I think he sounded in better voice for the 2nd show.
Some Different songs were Adore, Purple Music (!), A couple of lines of Free, an intro tease of Anna Stesia, The Max.
For both shows he canned the climax of Beautiful Ones - which was amazing at the Melbourne show - his voice has to be feeling it.

Totally agree, I think half the crowd had been to the first shiw because they were all pretty pumped up. It had only ended 45 mins earlier! I think Prince was still fired up from the finale.

The Opera House was bouncing!

Amazingly beautiful night xx

In no order and very incomplete
As we had some absolute assholes sitting infront of us -

Love, thy will be done
Big City
Joy in Repetition
Little Red corvette
-back to Joy in repetition
Dirty Mind
Little red corvette
- back into Dirty Mind
Rock n roll love affair
Call my name
Strange relationships
A million days
Back into Strange relationships
Back into a million days
Unchained melody!!!!
Adore
How come you don't call me anymore

Then we kicked out the 3 assholes in front of us for an awesome 30min encore with Anzac & I front row, centre stage smile!

I didn't go to the second show, but it would have probably been worth it for "Love Thy Will Be Done" alone. That was one of the absolute highlights of one of his past shows, cannot remember which one, but I still have it in my ears (maybe Melbourne 2012?).

I also had to ask the ushers to get someone out of there. Did anyone else hear the woman who kept screaming "it's my birthday!"? She must have moved around a bit because I think at first she was in the stalls then she came to the front of the circle and stood in the stairwell making quite a scene. They pulled her out but then she found her way down again. Removed again. Really hoping it doesn't happens again tonight, ruined How Come You Don't Call Me.

I was about 10 rows from the back and there were s few shouting out requests during quieter bits.

I don't think he sang Call My Name, but someone from near the front shouted out for it and he said, "I can't call your name because I don't know your name."

I thought someone shouted out at one point something slong the lines of "at least you remember the words now!" Abd he gave them a playful look.

He also played it on the first Sydney date, first night of the 2012 W2oz tour.
I'll never forget it.. He played a more rock version with an awesome guitar solo it was beautiful.

I'm sure I messed the order up in places and maybe can't remember a few songs toward the middle but the 10pm show went something like this:

Love thy will be done
Big city
Joy in repetition
Little red corvette/dirty mind/little red corvette
Rock n roll love affair
Screwdriver
The breakdown
A million days
I love u but don't trust u anymore
1000 hugs and kisses
When the lights go down
The max
Waiting in vain/if I was your girlfriend
Satisfied
Unchain my heart/strange relationship
The ballad of Dorothy Parker
How come u don't call me anymore
Purple music
Kiss
Diamonds & pearls/the beautiful ones
Adore
Nothing compares 2 U
Free/Purple rain/condition of the heart/Anna stesia
Purple rain

I think the second show had a lot less of the synth string effects for the first 3/4 of the show than the first. He killed the end of Dorothy Parker - my partner who plays piano but is not really a fan was like "Oh Wow!"at the end of that biggrin

What an amazing heartfelt experience to witness once again a pure genius!
This was my 5th concert, my 17yr old son has also seen him now 3 times and we loved every minute of it.
Wishing he would come to Australia more often.....
Much love to Prince for the magic he shares with us all.

Same!

But think about this: he first toured Oz in 1992, then 11 years later in 2003, then 9 years later in 2012 and now a little over three years later in 2016.

The gap between Australian tours keeps getting shorter! He likes it here!!

I remember it well...I didn't have a ticket that night so I hung round outside Rod Laver to just listen - but I scored a free ticket in when some people left after about 45 mins (!!) - so I got to witness that and Prince with Chuck D - all for free!!

It's going to be sooo good to see Prince - in Auckland!!! I'd love to have been at the Sydney Opera House last night but with only 2 weeks notice the airfares were ridiculous... finally I don't have to use my passport to go to the concert!!

Trying to explain music with words is doomed to fail, but here is

Attempt no 1

Prince displayed his true majesty by reinterpreting his music for voice & piano only. He took us on a journey across his music catalogue, but simultaneously he also tells the tale of moving from one relationship to another, and meanders through 50 years of music styles while
doing so.

In other words, he's also saying he can reinterpret any song in any genre and bring the crowd to their feet with a simple touch of the keys, or note from his voice. Not only a master, he is THE ONE. (All those times saying "On the ONE" have left their impression.)

Part way through the show

-he played RNR love affair in a style reminiscent of Little Richard,

-then came the hauntingly beautiful A Million Days where echoes of pain rippled like water across the keyboard,

-then Dorothy Parker with piano like Miles Davis' So What (which completely flawed me),

-then Prince changed tempo and introduced the shift by saying "the space you need between the space you don't need dictates if it's funky"
where he moved into "How come U don't call me anymore" in a James Brown funky style,

-then a reinvented Waiting in Vain (Bob Marley)/ If I was your girlfriend mash up - with all that hoping for a new relationship

-then the new relationship begins and its 1000 Xs & Os - and all that new energy is evidenced by a Marvin Gaye sound

-then Satisfied in a gospel soul sound

-then Adore - once again a painfully beautiful melody, some funky piano and then moves into a lullaby.(!!?!?!??!??!!!)

It was breathtaking, mindblowing and I'll never be the same. Just writing this is bringing tears to my eyes.

I'm still trying to comprehend it - still pinching myself wondering if this is what was happening (cos I know I couldn't possibly dream this up). And now I'm really crying.

Here is my attempt at a set list:
-[String intro - no idea what the tune was]

-Love thy will be done

-Big City

-Joy in Repetition

-When the lights go down

-Little Red Corvette/ Dirty Mind mash up

-Litte Red Corvette coda - Slow Down

-The Breakdown

-Rock n Roll love affair

-Screwdriver

-Eye love U but eye don't trust U anymore

-A Million Days

-Strange Relationship/ Unchain My Heart (Joe Cocker)/ Free

-Ballad of Dorothy Parker (others put Madhouse Track Four -but it sounds like Miles Daves So What)

-The Max

-How come U don't call me anymore

-Waiting in Vain (Bob Marley)/ If I was your girlfriend mashup

-1000 Xs & Os

-Satisfied

-Adore

Encore 1

-Purple Music

-Kiss ("Act your age mama, not your shoe size" with Prince on his feet dancing with fancy footwork & just the crowd singing - the crowd went wild)

Encore 2

-Nothing compares 2 U

(Encore 3?)

-Purple Rain [intro - no vocal]

-Condition of the heart [no vocal]

-Anna Stesia [no vocal]

-Diamonds & Pearls

-Beautiful Ones

-Purple Rain

He is the one.

.

(I didn't notice any string synths until Nothing Compares to U on this night. I didn't mind them. Perhaps I was in a good spot acoustically & sound was ok, not bothersome???)

(I saw the comment about a more full version of the Beautiful Ones at 6:30 that I missed. Fingers crossed he plays it tonight Sunday 21 Feb at 10pm cos I'll be there!)

Additional...

At Encore 2 Prince said "I've never felt so welcome in Australia" & his voice choked up (!!!!) Thank u to the excellent audience for giving & making Prince feel welcome. And just to be explicit we all hope Prince knows he is always welcome inAustralia & there are many passionately addicted fans here. Thank you Thank you!

I really enjoyed it.

He shook out his wrists and arms a few times, playing almost 2 hours without interval after a previous show - he was working hard.

There were some shouts during the quieter bits which was a bit distracting for me, how much more for him. I tried to just be in the moment and soak it all up.

I heard that woman who shouted "it's my birthday" only once - he responded by saying "and you expect me to believe that?" Haha

The crowd was fired up. The applause was roaring. The stomping and clapping for encores was deafening.

3 encores.

As I said I truly enjoyed it.

I can't believe I saw him live, again.

Thank you Prince for coming to Australia and for playing your heart out!!

...every night another symphony...

It Was The BEST Night Of My Life the atmosphere was so awesome the songs the crowd the lights the whole thing was phenomenal & when he went quite & the audience shouted request I could swear Prince heard me scream The Morning Papers also during the show I shouted mid song & Prince did the ok stop hand signs like he did in UTCM right at me so I'd shut up lol & then there's the birthday lady who kept at Prince for ages & during LRC no less but it was Perfect 4 me & I was so glad I got to experience the masterpiece that was this show plus I got the new album & some great merch but the best part besides the songs had to be the playful banter between him & the audience I loved how he made us feel like he was with old friends rather then just a random concert gathering cool Prince painted the town Purple & changed the name 2 Sydneyapolis that's The Living Legend Prince wink
All of this and more is 4 u. With <3, sincerity and deepest care, my life with u eye share ~Prince~
