Sorry, as a vocalist myself and a frequent concertgoer, it just struck me as a bit odd. But I suppose my obsession about it is pretty odd too. lol

If I was Prince i'd be jumping off the stage to, to stretch out and have a drink of water. Even though he's not dancing around like back in the day's he's been playing Hendrix drenched version's of his song's or bringing in horn's and throwing the funk in for set's that range from 1hr 30m - damn near 2 1/2 - 3hr's standing up & running off and on stage. I play music and i know being behind a piano is a awkward position and can border on painful on your back/leg's/fingers, so he probably trying to stretch out & at the same time keep those pipe's hydrated (b/c singing alone nevermind w/ that much emotion would give you cotton mouth and hit your body).

Maybe that's why the 2nd show was shorter? Sitting could have took a toll on his body nevermind soul. Toward's the end of 2nd set he said i'm going to stand for this one and he went into KISS that seamlessly went into Black Sweat w/ the same Piano Riff. Oh yea, then after that did Free Urself pretty much standing telling people to clap and sing while clapping and jumping around. After like 5min's i'd say the fog machine kicked on and the super tall door's w/ TAFNAP symbol opened and he strutted out to never come back. Way diff ending than emotional long version of Breakdown & a equally feeling long Annastesia on Set 1 which he mainly sat for. My theory is not trying to hide drinking water, jus such a small stage that barely fit the Baby grand w/ a IPAD on top of it along w/ a pedal there, an wearing silk!! There wasen't room for water bottle's that could possibly spill, and gave him a reason to get the cramp's/pain's out from sitting if there was.

Prince used to wear variation's of those crazy high heel'd platform's for year's out dancing James Brown & MJ combined in em, jumping, sliding over on top of Piano's. So i'd put money on he has to have some kind of pain's from doing all that. Lately he's been dressing way more comfortable but nothing can be more comfy than those silk pajama's & those shoe's looked like he found a pair of never worn early 90's Reebox that lit up in the back as you walked. I haven't seen those in decade's, brought me back to the era when (they were either Nike's or Reebox) i was wearing the sneaker's that had the basketball design on the tongue you'd press and it'd give you some air/pressure. Talk about a throwback.

I ALSO NO SOME OF THE SHOW WAS RECORDED. At Houlihan's get together I was talking w/ a few of the people I met from the night before that said i should go over for the lunch meeting. While I was there I as saying to a few people I was so close to trying to record the show via cell just for a mementoto to remember esp for Baby, Dirty Mind, Dorothy, Unchain My Heart, Condition/Heart, Paisley P, etc (it's annoying writing note's to help remember highlight's while trying to enjoy the show). But I said I also wasen't trying to get kicked out / possibly banned from the w/kend or PP (you never know). Anyway's I excused myself and while at the Urinal a guy I was talking w/ some and came in and said "you alone in here"? I'm like yup but not sure if i'mma wanna hear what the next question is...

He smirked, I turned away saying what's up w/ you? All of a sudden i hear Baby being played for a few second's, than he's like oh wait or was it this song you wanted to hear? Than Dirty Mind started playing. I never been so close to wanting to grab someone's phone and RUN OUT THE DOOR!!! I'm like i can't believe you got that. He replied I wasen't flying up here from down south / spending all that money and not leaving w/out something. I asked about the 2nd set and he said he was pissed when he noticed while leaving PP that something malfuntioned and it cut off during seconds into 1,000 X's & O's and goes on saying he'd rather have had vice versa. Saying 1st set was more of a medly where 2nd set was longer song's.

I was speechless , he's like it's not the best quality. I'm like sound's decent to me. I inquired are you just rubbing this in my face or are you going to help a brutha out, let's exchange info?? He said Shhhh & we'll talk later, PP is small enough we'll see each other. I didn't say anything about it as I sat down and finished a conversation before leaving and paying my check, shocked. It was like did that just really happen?

WELL end's up the guy never exchanged info w/ me and it was a dick move to just rub it in my face. A truly WTF moment!! I wasen't going to say anything but who slide's in the bathroom and does that? Like a kid w/ a new toy, it's all mine and you can't have it. Maybe should have tried to flush his phone. So not sure if this is the recording's your talking about or different ? Guess karma did hit him tho, since he only got a little bit of the 2nd set. You'd think he'd be happy w/ what he got, i'd be for sure

This concert has so many of my favourites, I wish I had seen it. Sounds like the perfect setup for Prince and the publicity has been tremendous... Tiny overheads... A decent tour makes perfect sense on so many levels... Cmon Princey!

I wonder why he didn't drink water in front of us here then.

Do you really think Prince would do something as human? Mr. Perfect..NOT!!!!

but he's taking baby steps he will someday, like my boy, EL.. who 'keeps it real'

So can anyone elaborate on "Dirty Mind" - he played the whole song in its original form (piano and mic, I know)? Or did he do a JW-friendly version? Thanks!

I saw El perform last year. His voice is still intact. He can still hit all those notes. He sounds better than ever.

Real piano. A very real piano. Purple, of course.

Pretty sure it was a shell. Facing the piano it looked gutted and there was only one pedal.

Definitely a shell. The piano was still on the stage Saturday night, but the keyboard had been taken out.

Sounds like a great concert! I don't want to be picky but since he talked so much about his father it might have been nice to play 'Father's Song'. Also, I wonder if he would consider doing a tour in which the first half is just him and a piano and the second half is just him and a guitar. Or maybe he could play 1 song on both instruments (not at the same time, obviously)!

I saw Stanley Jordan with one hand playing piano and the other playing his guitar. It was amazing.

If you have not seen the show yet, do not listen to the bootleg. Take my advice, resist the temptation. It does not do the show justice and it will ruin it for you once you do see the show. I went into the show completely blind and I literally had my hand on my mouth most of the time in disbelief as to the historic performance that I was witnessing.

On a side note, the only thing that would have made the experience even more perfect for me is if he had done Moonbeam Levels.

Yeah saw him at The Townshend aftershow in SF in 97. He came out with his white NPG parka on & the gold symbol guitar slung over his shoulder & started to play the ride on both guitar & keys. Good stuff

It doesn't matter. No one will ever be able to see that show again because it is gone. Even if he does the same setlist at a future show, it will largely be different. We know all the songs, so why not listen to the boot?

I'm sick that I missed the show in person but nothing can change that and will just try to get some enjoyment from the recording. I'm happy for Prince and for all of you that you were all there.

Au contraire!

There is mic rubbing, the music/noise ratio is not too high, there are idiots near the taper, P is losing his voice and does not sing all words (e.g. Dirty Mind).
