I'm getting goosebumps just from reading the reviews. That's what being a Prince fan in 2016, I guess: accepting that he can go from the ridiculous to the sublime and back again in a few weeks. Congratulations to those who enjoyed it last night, and let's hope that he takes this show globally: it's about time that he reminds everyone how awesome he is!
clapping it sounds like Prince is on the right path. I hope he continues on..I like to hear that he knows that he's human like the rest of us and its ok to share your joy and pain. Im happy for all those who were able to enjoy that experience with Prince. The choice of songs that are listed and the reviews makes me want to give Prince a hug and tell him thanks for being "you" ---Prince you are loved ..keep shining hug

Like the saying goes......"with age comes wisdom." I think that Prince is not as uptight as he was when he was younger, and has mellowed with age. When you're young, you're so afraid of everything. Things that seemed so important and dramatic, just aren't that big of a deal anymore as you age. Wiah I could have been there, and hope to get the opportunity to experience this kind of concert one day.

I can basically imagine how 'The Love We Make' and 'Free Urself' sound on a piano but to actually hear it in person would be another thing. The concept is pretty cool. I would lose it, if I heard both of those at a concert. It's not every day that he would include those in a concert. So...

Wish I were there with the other thousand or so other people.

Maybe, he'll come back to Memphis one day.

I am curious to know if he actually sang the lines on Dirty Mind where he says I only want to lay you down...? Or did he just play on that part and let the crowd sing? How much did he sig on Do Me Baby also? Original lyrics? Any obmissions? It is great to see these songs surface again!!

no one has said in any post that he truncated, edited any words..Jon Bream made a point to state that no religion or anything was talked about during the show,,,The only religion was apparently the religious experience that was the show

Thats about what I expected. I expect he did the same with parts of Dirty Mind also. I was just curious if the old Prince was slowly emerging every now and then. Still great to hear him play these even if he didn't sing parts of it.

this may seem like a dumb question. did he walk through the crowd to get to the stage and leaving. i ask because the door he usually uses is way on the other side of the soundstage.....

The stage was set up against that door... The stage as you know it was not there.... The room was completely re-done.

Thank you Augustwinters for answering my question. I was the one asking about The Ladder. I wish I could have made it to these shows, sounds amazing. I hope this gets a release, video, album...something.

just curious...how was black sweat performed? Was it sampler set style??

Nope it was just a funky piano rendition.. hard to explain but it worked perfectly got us all to get up and dance like crazy kids smile

I can just hear it, that song is perfect for beating the keys silly -- and I guess that high pitched electro-whistle sound wasn't missed.

You guys, I've not been the biggest fan of Prince's live show for the past couple years.

But this was absolutely incredible. Probably tied for my favorite concert I've ever seen. biggrin I'd see him doing a show like this at least 5 more times. I wish I could have seen the 2nd show!

If at the park the tickets are $100 and up, what would you expect abroad?

(of course the US dollar has an inflated purchasing power, still, but you understand the price that the Prince man will ask for a 2.5K auditorium show in e.g. Someville, UK)

It was. Probably as far as audience surprise, participation and excitment, it was the highlight.

The only lame thing about the performance was that he seemed to walk off stage and hide (presumably) to drink water (I assume this because he would have needed to be drinking water in order to sound as good as he did for those shows). Did he think us witnessing him drinking water would ruin his mystique? Very weird.

He mentioned lucid dreaming before Sometimes it Snows In April.

Prince talking about having lucid dreams of people in his life who have died

is something many of us can relate to. That was one thing some of us were talking

about after the show.

I love that I have lucid dreams, even though they can be unsettling...
