I don't want to be overly optimistic, but this could be the Prince tour I've hoped for for years. Prince. An instrument. Pure talent.

I'm sacared waht the ticket prices will be ...

Oh yeah sad ... I heard normal tickets for the tour might be around 300€

Hmm, that would make it easier for me not to go and save money for more important things lol
but if I could make a guess I'd say about 120-150€, maybe the 300€ is for the front rows or something like that. I doubt a 300€ price would sell out a venue with a capacity of 3.000. Do sheiks listen to Prince music?

Yes and in even less time you could have checked your spelling. Just a random thought.Doesn't have to be that programme.

.

It was the ONLY show you mentioned, and you mentioned it TWICE.

Fact's are boring, that's why you are here Bart. to point out boring and uncomplete or wrong facts. wink
But... I like that. I really do. smile
Yep. I like facts to be right. I like it when Bart smacks another bro'/sista on the bum ! wink Especially when it comes to the unpredictable funky-prick called Prince and his predictable assholeness.
But ! biggrin

This is very exciting news. Something different. Hopefully the keyboard doesn't have a sampler attached.

It might be too early to call, but with this and the new band configuration, I'm hoping we're on the verge of some interesting and different new music.

Stuff like this makes prince.org harder and harder to come back to. The rumors of financial ruin have been pervasive for 25 years and it's so <yawn>. Every indicator shows he's flush with cash, other than the ones you make up.

I think you misunderstand my comments. For a guy with the artistic vision and freedom that Prince evidently wants, he needs solid revenue streams or he won't be able to sustain the cost of all his toys (multiple studios, rehearsal spaces, session players, facilities team etc etc etc). Its basic economics. I don't think I said anything about financial ruin as far as I can rememeber. What he is doing is a good way of making revenue pretty quickley while minimising costs. Its just efficient and his audience get something they haven't seen from him before. So I'm yawning at your comments as I type this over your overlly precious attitude towards a pretty innocuous statement!!!

It's the jumps in conclusions that defy logic. Like I said, there have been predictions of bankruptcy for 25 years. I know nothing of his financial state, but I believe as long as he can walk, sing, and play guitar, he will never struggle for cash. The fact that PP IS operating right now is a pretty good indication all is good. For many years it was dark, who knows why?

Jumping to the conclusion this is a cash grab is like me saying kidsherriff is posting on prince.org therefore he must be jobless, no spouse, no gf/bf, and no prospects. Really quite silly because I'm sure you're dashing in every way.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Personally I love the idea, but in the concerts I attended last year people used the piano set to go to the bar or to the toilet...

lol I should think prices will be quite high though so hopefully the casual fans and tanked up toilet goers will be minimised.

Sounds like the venues are quite small. Expect these shows to be aimed at the hard-core.

I think that as well. Which makes me think, Kate Moss and Harry Styles will be able to get tickets and I won't. I hope they need to go to the loo during Purple Rain!

16 cities in 11 countries: UK (London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Glasgow). Also Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and Spain.

Tour begins 21st Nov in Vienna, then 22nd Nov in Brussels. Dec 13th is Barcelona. More details to come!

I'm so excited about this. I have wanted Prince to do this in forever. I hope it really is as SOLO as this sounds. Just him and the piano is something I wasn't sure we'd ever get to see. This could be the best thing he's ever done cool

As a fan for over 30 years, I have always wanted to see Prince play in my hometown, Liverpool.

I have seen him many, many times over the years but this would be incredible. Peter Guy, local music journo, is a massive Prince fan and his story today in the local pale says the venue is likely to be the Philharmonic Hall. An amazing setting for an intimate concert, and acoustics to die for.

Am very worried I won't get a ticket for this and that would be very hard to take so close to home.

Fingers crossed for everyone who wants to go.

I reckon he will still bring a band, and as the shows go on the piano portion will get less and less, and the band hits will get longer and longer...

Hard core fans yes, but he is still only going to do the same 15-20 hits/covers he has been doing for what feels like forever now i bet. I hope you guys like this show and I hope he plays unusual stuff but this is one I can personnaly say I don't want to see. This would be boring to me but thats just me. I am die hard but not that die hard. I would have to be really drunk to get through a show of nothing but him and the piano for 90 minutes, especially when the encore comes and he breaks out the sampler set on top of the snoozefest piano ballads. Prince going Barry Manilow. This should be interesting to see how the crowd reacts for sure. I do hope you guys who go enjoy it though.

Prince Will Trade Guitar for a Piano on New, Stripped-Down Tour

The Piano & A Microphone Tour will feature just that

James Grebey // November 9, 2015 (SPIN magazine)

Prince is renowned for his god-like ability to shred on his (literally) signature axe, but the Purple Rain maestro revealed that he’ll be forgoing his guitar in favor of a more intimate piano for a just-announced, globe-spanning new tour. The Prince Spotlight: Piano & A Microphone Tour — which is rumored to make stops in a dozen countries in less than a month — will feature solo Prince performances where he only wields (you guessed it) a piano and a microphone.

“Why do this now? For several reasons. For starters it is a challenge,” he toldCultura, who broke the news. “I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that’s been perfected for over thirty years. You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get.”

A tweet from the meme-loving Prince’s Twitter account furthered this idea.

Prince alone with his piano was epic. You could hear a pin drop. Prince alone with his piano was epic. You could hear

In typical Prince fashion, the performer’s yet to officially announce countries, dates, or cities for the tour, though Cultura claims he’ll play the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and The Netherlands. According to Dr. Funkenberry, the tour will kick off November 21 in Vienna and end December 22 in Brussels.

YAY! I'm really happy about this. I'll probably be able to make it to the Liverpool show depending on the ticket prices. I seriously hope that the Liverpool date(s)?? don't clash with my Duran Duran concert at the end of this month.

I don't know if I'll have anyone to go with either haha, as I'm not sure if my bf will want to go see Prince again lol

I love reading concerts posts like this. You can set your watch by it. Yunno, getting to witness that stunning lack of self-awareness and preposterous self-undulgence which would allow someone to post silly minutiae like this.

Note: you're only interesting when you say things someone else finds relatable. Or, put another way. People don't tend to find a stranger's day-to-day bollocks that interesting. Now, tell me, how I get tickets?

I don't know but my mom just asked me if I haven't seen enough Prince shows already. That's so typical of her. No wonder why my dad, who is 55 and a massive Prince fan since the first album, and her broke up. I did take the break-up fairly well though. I mean, twice as much presents on Christmas and birthdays!

I'm hearing Amsterdam will get two shows on the same night (5 december) btw.

We've had bits and pieces of tours, Tamar tours, residencies, sad

Not even enough notice to make travel arangements usually. sad

We usually have to pay more for tickets than you guys too... sad

I guess I'll never see Princey live again.... sad
