biggrin I'm over in Wisconsin this week with work and was planning on a weekend in Minneapolis. Would you say Saturday was the best night for a gig or is it going to be the toss of a coin.

Also is it best to drive out to Paisley Park or can you get a cab from downtown?

Updated info says $40 cover, 10pm doors each night,

You'd think he'd be playing for that price,
but as usual, nothing is confirmed.

Thank you thank you, haven't made any friends here yet so maybe this is a better opportunity. I do drive so if anyone in the metro Minneapolis area needs a ride without paying the crazy taxi/uber rate I'd be happy to take them

I would recommend driving to PP, a cab from DT will probably cost like 50-$60!! Chanhassen is like 30 minutes drive from the metro area ...

Thanks for the advice. Yes I saw that it was over 1/2 hour away. I was planning a few drinks downtown but I'll have to make other plans razz I presume they'll be ample parking out there?

Wish he would stream this from Paisley Park instead of the recorded medley from Paris this weekend...

The lot is pretty small but peeps park on the side streets and walk up once it's full... I guess if ya wanna drink then perhaps Uber would b cheaper ;p

.

So where are U from since U mentioned U're in WI for work? (lucky for U he's having 2 parties this weekend wink ) As far as a performance it's def a toss of a coin.. He could play one or both nights or none at all lol

I'd say it's likely that he'll play maybe even both nights considering the high cover charge and his name on the flyer. Both of those almost always indicate a performance. However on 2-night events he has been known to only play the Saturday. But I wouldn't be surprised if he just played the Friday, to keep us guessing. In my experience if he's charging $40, he's playing. Remember it's cash only and that he might not go up til late. And that you don't leave until security tells you to.

One tip so that you don't get ripped off: If you arrive and see the stage through the doors in the lobby with a short microphone on stage with the glyph, 99% chance he's playing. If you don't see it you could leave without paying :p

The only flight I see that I could make gets me in at 11:59 pm. tonite How far is the airport from PP? Wondering if its worth trying to make Friday's show or just shoot for Sat. Is it required to wear PJ's?

if you get in at midnight I feel like you'd be fine, since doors are at 10 and if he even does go up it wouldn't be til maybe even 1. The airport is near Bloomington so it'll still be a ways but not quite as far as from downtown. It's gonna be a costly Uber/cab from pretty much anywhere, sadly.

He charged $40 each nite for the 3 days international labor day party weekend in sept and didn't play so the cover doesn't mean a thing... the last time he played it was only $10... ;p

He plays if he feels like it that's all smile

These thing usually go until at least 2am so I guess if U have a car rental might as well try it? cab would b a lot without knowing what's up.. it'll take U bout 30mn from airport to chanhassen.

dress code is what U want no pjs req.

Welcome to Minneapolis...I hope you have fun at the Park!

I have been to countless parties at Paisley. I will say, as I always do, nothing is guaranteed. A month ago or so, there were three straight nights of parties for the album release and i think the fee was $40 each night and Prince did not perform at all. Last weekend, the charge was much less and he did perform. There is no magic criteria as to whether or not he will perform. You have to go knowing that and be ok with spending $40 and not seeing a performance.

It is still a cool vibe tho. Especially if some band plays...one of my favorite nights was about a year ago when he had a jazz band playing in the L4OA room (John Blackwell on drums). That music was awesome and something that I wouldn't have gotten to experience had I not gone. I still wish that music would get released somehow!

PJs are NOT required.

For parking, yes, there are a few spots in the Paisley lot, other than that, you need to find side streets. I would caution anyone from parking on Audubon Rd as I believe the city has decided they don't want that. If I recall, the last time people parked there, there were warnings on everyone's windshields. I would also say to be very careful of fire hydrants - they are not always obvious as they are a little farther off the street.

It should be a good time this weekend. As the post said, you never know what might happen. Of course we would all like it if they came out and said "Prince will perform at 11:30 on Saturday only." But that won't happen. So go and have fun!

Personally, I do wish the prices would come down a bit...this is getting expensive! I would like to bring my kids and their friends, but I can't drop that kind of money! I miss the days of $7! biggrin

I'm not expecting anything but good jams and to finally see inside paisley, and hopefully make some cool new friends. I'm more or less worried about when I should leave n park my car more than the cover charge lol I've paid more $ to see him play elsewhere do $40 to come inside paisley park sounds ok for now...

You will enjoy yourself! Don't worry about parking, etc. My advice is don't worry about getting there right at 10:00. Even if the doors actually open right at 10:00, you certainly won't miss any performance (if there is one) in that first 30-60 minutes. If there is a performance, I just can't see it starting before 11. If Prince is performing, I can't see it starting before midnight. But as always, you never know! smile Let us know if you have other questions!

Even if the flyer says come early? Lol I can't see many people in Minnesota but I guess since he told everyone in advance it's possible that it could get crowded quick? Ah I'm like nervous and not sure why I feel like this is my first date all over again lol

Nah, it's quite a large room, I've seen him there 4 times and never seen it be at capacity. I'd be amazed if you got turned away at any point in the night. Prince fans elsewhere might be disappointed to learn that these events don't exactly have a line out the door...!

I'm originally from the Uk but moved to Australia 4 years ago. So I've been to plenty of gigs in recent years - O2, Indig02 aftershows, Hop Farm, Welcome2Australia. Always wanted to go Paisley Park so if he plays a gig I'm seeing it as a bonus. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Saturday night.

I decided not to go , it was too last minute. I have a family to tend too and as much as I need a Purple Pilgramage... That said my wife gave her blessing to go. Tomorrow would be tempting but with no guarantee I can't justify the cost. Hopefully there will come a time where we can get at least a couple weeks notice.
