Liv Warfield added to the schedule tonight, to play after LP Music,

The most people can hope, is Prince jumps on stage to noodle a bit on keys or guitar, but that's probably all you'll get.

Still a question mark as to the "live music" for Day Three though...

LP Music played first. Then DJ, then Liv Warfield played. Prince came on stage after about 15 minutes and fanned her like she was too hot, then left. He came back about 15 minutes later and grabbed Ryan's guitar and took a solo, then left again. After Liv was done the DJ spun again and Joshua, Hannah, Ida, Donna, and Prince got on the main stage and danced while the DJ played MILLIONDOLLARSHOW, SHUTTHISDOWN, and AINTABOUT2STOP. They were doing tours againg, except when Liv was playing. I left before it was officially over, so that is all I have.

MILLIONDOLLARSHOW is a duet with Judith Hill, SHUTTHISDOWN reminds me of My Name Is Prince in the vocal style, and AINTABOUT2STOP is the Rita Ora song. All fast paced/dance songs. I'm thinking old school Prince fans are not going to be into this, although I am and still like most of the album. 3 songs I haven't heard yet, LIKEAMACK, MRNELSON, and JUNE.

  • i was so looking 4ward to vegan rice crispy treats 2night -- superbummed!

ahh... but then, LiV warfield totally restructured the texture of the atmosphere with her voice and everything was ok. i think its cute how some people are soooo excited just to catch a glimpse of Prince, lookin up over their shoulder to see if he's still up there, i hope he is okay with it. I really hope 2morrow night that every1 who has missed the tours will have the opportunity to experience that inner realm of the Soundmaster. Every1 was in total reverence and awe of walking through those rooms. on the speakerphone, Prince said something to the effect of .... tell everyone that what matters most to me about this band is their wonderful personalities -- have worked with a lot of talented musicians but their musicianship is just icing on the cake compared to their personalities...................................................

they really are all Gems -- veryveryvery elated for prince. the new songs are the most different prince project i've yet heard, and it would have been a struggle to stop moving to them. Awesome to hear LP music too. i could gush on but must start thinking about freeing myself, from debt. totally worth it though, and to any who feel like a bowl of jelly after reading about this, just be certain about what you want, and it will happen at the perfect moment.

Night 2 definitely picked up in intensity. Got there around 10pm. LP played first and it was more people there tonight than on Friday. LP played one long set then this sexy female dj spun for a bit. Suddenly Liv Warfield took to the stage and got funky. Prince made an appearance and even played a solo, then skipped away behind closed doors. Apparently there were a lot of his buddies and former bandmates there tonight, and they all seemed very happy and playful. I even met Sonny T hanging out by the restrooms, and Ida Neilson when she was leaving with Liv. I heard Kirky J and Tony Mosley were there. Didn't catch the time, but it was maybe 3am or so when they kicked us out. Then off to Perkins where multiple Prince songs were sung by us all.

biggrin

All I can say is the atmosphere was even better than Friday night, and I love how friendly and sociable people are. A lot of folks were still sitting/standing and watching, but a lot of dancing happened tonight. Of course People flocked to Prince the few times he was onstage, and we finally got to hear 2 or 3 new songs, which were really funky. Unlike Friday night, tonight was worth $40.

I stayed home last night as I'd been out alllll day at the State Fair, but I thought I'd pass along this tidbit from my friend's facebook post about the night:

Then later... The night ended. We hightailed it out and then had the moment. Out of nowhere Prince pedals by on a bike, swerves through the crowd again and circles around the lot while being all cute. I looked at Jenny and said "well that moment was what I paid $40 for!"

Also - just read the "phone calls" into the studio during the tours were playbakcs of a recording:

"On Friday, Prince didn’t appear during the festivities, which went from 9:30 p.m. to 2:10 a.m. Well, he did record a phoned-in message played to people who paid $20 for a tour of his two recording studios. The same tours – with the same taped phone call – took place on Saturday."

i went, got there around 8:30 and parked down the road. another cool breezy evening which made it nice waiting in line outside. lots of people kept arriving as we waited, a constant stream of headlights aiming for the park

.

they let us in around ten? or so? i left my cellphone in the car, along with my watch, which was a good thing, since security came by as we waited and told everyone 'no cellphones'. they strictly enforced this directive and one fellow in line was strongly reprimanded for not following orders.

.

inside, the crowd was enthusiastic, laughing dancing and moving around. the line of people waiting for the tour grew longer and longer over the course of the evening down the middle of the big room. the DJ grooved us along to a string of beats and then LP came on.

.

my favorite part of their show was not just the music of LP, which utterly funked the place up, but watching the guys themselves and knowing these were the folks our hero started his journey with back in the day. very smooth, polished beat and transcendent jazz riffs over the top of it all. quirky. the band has real personality.

.

the L4OA room was absolutely jammed full of people for the set. more and more folks kept arriving in a constant stream. i left shortly after LP finished playing. felt sort of stupid but my ears were not handling the bass well last night, for some reason.

.

and now of course after reading other reports about the show i missed i definitely feel like an idiot for leaving. oh well.

I get the feeling that HitnRun will be sort of NPS in its toss off of-the-moment appeal...in a good way. Without the weaker tracks, but highlighting inventive beats and sonic bursts.

Liv played a song early in the set...maybe 2nd or 3rd song in. It was a motivational song about not going to stop her, etc. Can anyone help me out with the name of that song?

freeurself was played on the minitour. It's an all together different project and didn't morph into hitnrun. It's another high energy song that is uplifting and its a project that Prince is working on right now. Shutthisdownand and aintabout2stop are both good songs. Liv was great and more energy last night. I go the distance and nothing major happened after Prince n 3eg danced some to new album. They played an isolated bass track on the minitour that was ace.

I was in perhaps the first group to take the tour on Friday night, and I can guarantee that the Prince's call to us was live -- at least for our group.

I wouldn't say it is really singing, just speaking the lines Ain't about to stop, ain't about stop, ain't about to stop right now in an altered voice similar to what is at the end of HARDROCKLOVER. I'm thinking MRNELSON may be the remix of Clouds, but I could be wrong. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
