soo how was the new songs?

They sound more like AOA than PE to me. I've heard them both before at other PP parties. Shut This Down reminds me of My Name Is Prince, with the urgent vocals. Million Dollar Show is more lighthearted. It's really hard to describe after only hearing them a couple times. I really hope Revelation is going to be on this album. It doesn't sound like Stare will be, according to the @prince3eg twitter account, which makes sense because it doesn't fit with these other songs. I guess we'll find out on 9/7.

Wow, sounds like kind of a weird uneventful night. At least there will be a physical copy of the album available eventually...

Why no Prince tunes from the DJ I wonder? You're at PP for crying outloud!

The "HitNRun" title and the artwork — even the press release with no full track list — feel like low grade commercial gimmickery to me.

It would be great if he's saving "Stare" for "FreeUrself" and the gorgeous water color cover artwork — a brillant album delayed, much like the "Black Ablbum" and "The Gold Experience" while he settles things with JayZ for his sub par streaming on the Rally4Peace.

It's all good. "Stay Calm and Enjoy the Music"

First broached means the possibility was raised, so far all you know the decision to proceed may have been taken 2 weeks ago. 3EG is on vacation so on the plus side (from your perspective) the poor saps were not forced to listen to that crappy band you detest. smile

Why do you spend so much time researching everything PRINCE does if you just bash him... That's the one question people ask over and over yet you have NO RESPONE FOR... Must not be as "clever" as you "appear" to be.

I know absolutely nothing about the technical side of setting up everything to perform (and have the sound be good, etc) so maybe this wasn't possible to do last night without the proper people there to set up and manage things....but I can't help but think how fantastic it would be, since the band was not around, if Prince would just grab a guitar, or sit down at a keyboard, and play for even 20 minutes. Just him alone and one instrument (btw, performing COMPLETE SONGS, not some lame medley). Maybe those there last night would've feel like it wasn't the total "Prince experience" without a full band backing him and been disappointed, but to me Prince and just his guitar or playing the piano, would be a beautiful thing to behold. It's too bad he didn't do that. But considering I wasn't there anyway, oh well! smile

Yes, it's obvious that this FORTHIETH convention just happened on the spur of the moment. I mean, it's not like it happens every year around the same time.

.

Also, PRINCE INVITED THEM. Nobody forced him.

I don't understand why he'd invite journalists out there then not perform. "instruments weren't set up" is like saying "the dog ate my homework". When you live in a recording studio the instruments are always set up somewhere.

The only new info seems to be that there will be a physical release. Jay-Z may or may not be on the album... nobody seems to know - odd considering they were literally able to ask Prince.

Is it possible that this album relies heavily on production? Meaning many of the songs just don't/won't sound great live?

who cares, it's not like he'll play any songs from it in concert, except perhaps

a one off performance on some tv show or during an aftershow.

i'm looking forward to this album though. i love the sound of AOA and from

the looks of it, this album will be even more 'electronic', so i'm happy. it's a

bit of a different sound from prince.

They paid money for Prince to promote his new album and slate record companies. Sounds like a bit of a trick.

Not saying he has to - but he could have easily picked up an acoustic guitar or sat at the piano and done a set. They would have raved about it too.

I got out there about 10:45pm and saw a bunch of people standing in the rain by the front gate. We parked down by the daycare center. Eventually a bunch of people started coming back to their cars bitching about not being black and not able to get in. lol We thought we'd still give it a try and walked up as 3 buses pulled up and the people were getting off, so we just acted like we were with them and were able to get in.

I've been reading non members had to pay $50 I did not.. After parking side street and waiting I just decided to walk up, the parking girl was busy screaming at somebody as usual (those who go there know who am referring to lol) and I went in in the midst of peeps from the buses just like Motherfunka did... and asked how much they said $20 paid and got in...

I don't know if anyone actually did have to pay $50, I sure hope not wink

I really like Shut this down, it's a great club vibe song to dance to... I was hoping to hear new stuff but hey it was still nice to get those... Now I do wish they'd pplayed more Prince songs What the duck, a Prince dance party and the dj ony played 2 P songs... lol lol lol

Funny side story, When Prince first came out he was wearing a black shiny outfit and shoes, but then when he cameback out to mingle for a minute on the dance floor close to 2am (there was only very few peeps left by then) he had changed into a totally new outfit, cream color with a picture of his face on his top, a vest and the Lit up shoes...

I wondered why he changed, its not like he sweated playing or dancing lol

You're right, REVELATION doesn't fit along with the others. Escpecially the sax part. Me including it is just my own wishful thinking.

As far as the party, I've seen a lot of stuff posted online from the NABJ folks who were pissed off and wanted refunds. I saw the message that went out to them about it being a "dance party" for $20. So why get all mad when that is what it was??? I actually thought it was kind of funny that he didn't play, because a lot of those people were bragging about how it was exclusive for them. The crowd was pretty large (700-800 maybe), but as soon as Prince made his little speech there was a massive rush for the exit. confused
