How far into the studio version of Revelation did the DJ go before Prince and the band took it over live? Was it longer than what was broadcasted on the Yahoo special? If so, what was it like?

Thanks for the reports!

[Edited 4/20/15 5:08am]

It was about 3 or 4 minutes into the song before they took it over live. It is a really simple song, but very entrancing. He had the DJ play it before at another party. I've seen reports where they are saying it went on for about 30 minutes, but the second set was about 30 minutes. It was probably about 10 minutes from the time the DJ started playing it, until they finished it live.

He played guitar almost the whole night he was on stage, except for Stratus (keyboards) and Thank You (bass). I was pleasantly surprised with no hits. His guitar work on Revelation was freaking awesome.

I will add the DJ was Josh playing files on a mac laptop on the side of the stage, Oh how I wish I could've peeked at what else was inside that laptop razz

Also as far as Revelations, the second part of the song is even more beautiful, not sure why but this song brings back the Lovesexy era (no puns intended 2 the lovesex gurl lol )

I really want to see on which album this song ends up on, if it's any indication of what is to come, it is an amazing one on the way...

I don't recall the studio version having guitar on it. I just remember a lot of sax. I could be wrong. He's only played the studio version once. He could very well have just been noodling around on guitar last night.

I agree, it's almost as if they were gonna go back onstage after the song was done, but then Prince decided to jump in during the song on the spur of the moment and add a twist to it, hard to explain but almost like he was talking back to the song with his guitar...

I don't think there were any. If anyone got caught with a phone or camera, they'd get kicked out. I was hoping there'd at least be a professional photographer there, but I didn't see one. Prince looked beautiful in an all black outfit, made from a very lightweight, shimmery material. The rest of the band was also dressed in black. He had on a slouchy top and jacket, with matching pants, and black boots. He had a knit cap covering most of his hair, with only a little bit peeking out the bottom. From up close, it didn't look like he had much makeup on. He was very relaxed and natural, and constantly smiling. I would have loved to have a photograph. I'm bummed that it was so strict, but I wasn't about to break the rules! LOL

This was the outfit he was wearing. I'm not sure where this photo was taken. It wasn't from last night, because his hair was out. Looks silver/grey to me.

Ok, I can't get the picture attached, but here is the link.

It was hard to tell if the material was black or dark grey, due to the lighting. It looked very comfortable! biggrin

Good to hear this was a great concert for those who attended, maybe Prince had to vent through music which often leads to inspired concerts instead of hit sampler sets. cool

[Edited 4/20/15 0:57am]

I finally figured it out. The casual fans for whatever reason, scream like they were back in 1984 when he does the sampler sets, and when he does Play That Funky Music. Not sure why, but some of those casual fans were screaming so loud they needed oxygen. That makes Prince think he's doing something artistic and fantastic, so they will both be around forever. Damn.

After that, I knew we were going to be in for a good one. The show a couple of weeks ago was good, but I prefer it more stripped down when he's in guitar mode and not playing bandleader. As Trains Go By with Judith and Prince sharing vocals was awesome.

I don't think that was played. I just remember Ex's Face, Clouds remix, This Could Be Us remix, Fixurlifeup remix, the Rita Ora song, and Revelations. I wasn't feeling any of the remixes. They were techno-like, which I don't normally mind, but they just don't work for those songs.

Anyone know the title of the song? They have played it a lot out there, but I don't think I've seen anyone give it a title.

"Ain't about to stop" or "Ain't about to stop right now" Something like that.

Right, he just did guitar.

Thanks guys.

On a side note, according to someone else who attended, the studio version also features a guitar solo towards the end of the song, which then ends with spoken words. And after this, Prince picked it up and played guitar live, still according to this person.

That's possible. I just remember the DJ playing the song and a few minutes in, Prince got back on stage and picked up his guitar and started playing along to the song. Which was then picked up by the band. I've only heard the song one other time, last November, at fka Twigs show at PP. I do know that the song had not ended when he started playing.
