Berlin - 3rd June 2014 - Update: CANCELLED Just received an email from Eventim, stating Prince will play the Tempodrom in Berlin on June 3rd. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday 27th, at noon local time.

Surprised that a promoter in Germany risks a Prince concerts after the 2011 fiasco in Cologne.
If Paris is EUR 143 Berlin will be the same.

The venue held approx 17.000 but only 9.000 ticktes were sold. The sound was a desaster and p interupted the show for about an hour. he had 75 minutes till curfew and delivered a goos show. But the press was bad a the few Germans who came for the hits were anything but pleased as the tickets in Germnay are always more expensive than in the Netherlands or Belgium.
A 3800 seater venue may sell out but the ticket prices will be very expensive I guess. | |

Yes, the cologne concert was a disaster, but his last one in Berlin was very cool. I still watch the bootleg video a lot. Unfortunately I can't attend the concert in Berlin, too short notice. I understand that prince likes the hit and run concept, but for a lot of fans it's a pain in the ass. He should announce the shows at least 2-3 weeks before. It would make things a lot easier for me annd many others. |

Oh yeah, I was there...pretty much the most miserable concert experience I've ever had...people were Furious, and rightfully so. Well, I've just come back from Berlin, saw Peter Gabriel there yesterday...not doing the 4 hour drive again, but I wish everyone a good time, let's hope Prince is in better form than he was in 2011  [Edited 5/26/14 14:28pm] |

Cologne was an utter disaster and Prince very rightly dserved to be made solely responsible for that awful performance. Fact of the matter is that no german concert promoter would be booking an arena-sized venue for the guy at the moment. Not just due to Cologne but merely due to Prince seemingly lacking interest in german audiences. Even though he enjoyed huge success with both the SOTT- and Lovexey-Tours over here, he never made an effort to be clicking with Germans as much as he did with let's say our beloved french and dutch brethren. Having said that, I predict a sold out show in Berlin. Some people tend to follow him everywhere.
I personally wouldn't make an effort to be seeing him anymore on stage, as he is increasingly unpredicatble. Cologne 1992 was a downer, Maastricht 1992 was impertinently bad, Werchter 2010 was awful, Rotterdam 2011 was wonderful (2nd night), Cologne 2011 was disastrous. Why spend 130 Euros or more for an unpredictable, selfimportant little gnome that can be wonderfully funky when being in the mood for it, but is being nervewreckingly bad more often?
I am sure that he did some excellent shows recently and getting rid of Larry Graham and Shelby shows some promising progress, but still, I would rather give my money to charity than spending it on tickets to see Prince again.

I had a fantastic time at the 1992 cologne concert. I really don't understand the criticism. Cologne 1998 (the arena gig, not the aftershow) and 2011 weren't that good, but most Prince concerts are fantastic. To me he's the best live performer on the planet. [Edited 5/26/14 15:24pm] |

Well, I can only say that I've seen the little fella on the ONA tour in Oberhausen and Frankfurt in 2002 and I have to say that those two shows had me on a week long fan-high afterwards, just magical experiences...but after that, I'm pretty sure he didn't come back to Germany until his 2010 stint in Berlin..could be wrong about that, though. In any case, it's pretty obvious that Germany isn't very high up on his list of places to tour. But Cologne 2011 burned me to an extent that I'm pretty cautious about spending 150€ on the off-chance that he's in a good mood and decides to rock the house. I wish he were a bit more like Bruce Springsteen in that regard..seen him 5 times and you don't walk away from his concerts the least bit disappointed, 3 hour shows full of passion and energy are pretty much guaranteed with him...oh well, one can't have everything, I guess.. |

Some Infos for those who can go: Tempodrom is very central in Berlin. Close to Potsdamer Platz. Lots of Hotels there. Perfect Public Transport. From Airport Tegel you can get there directly by Bus for 2,60 Euro. Walking distance to Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie.

And... in 2010 he started his Tour in Berlin! (ok, Roskilde was before, but it was a Festival appearance) What a great Concert. Forever in my Life turned into Act of God. When will we be Paid into Purple Rain. Fantastic Audience. Nothing to complain about! | |

What's going on with these scalpers/greedy bastards ?! What's going on with Prince ? If it's about the money why play the Tempodrom and not a larger venue (although the Tempodrom still has a capacity of 3500 people) ?

exactly. For Berlin 2010 I got the cheapest ticket for 77euro - pit tix were for 155 then. I was expecting at least 150euro this time, but 300?... I'd love to go, but come on, that's just ridiculous. | |

So let's think about it: 10 £ to see Prince in a small venue in London, one of the financial capitals in the world. 300 € to see Prince in a small venue in Berlin, one of the poorest capitals in the world.
What is wrong?
