Music before concert

Went to the 15th May gig at LG Arena. Just want to know what the music was before Prince came on. I think it was Prince's album N.E.W.S. Am I right and is it the same at other shows?

Please don't tell me you liked whatever rubbish was on... it made me want to fall asleep. I remember at the O2 when memoirs of a geisha was played. That was much better!

Didn't particularly like it, just seemed to recognise it. It did get very repetitive after awhile.

God that music got painful after a while, a lady behind me was rather loudly voicing her objections to it. I wonder if the other gigs had better stuff on, I don't know why they don't just stick on SOTT or something like that.

Anyway, I remember seeing someone ahead of me trying to Shazam it and not getting any luck in identifying it. It's probably Generic Waiting Music #2 from some weird comp, or something like that.

They couldn't stick on one of his albums as that's part of his show lol

Point taken, but... they don't play anything from Dirty Mind, so maybe they should do that instead. I mean, I can't imagine why Prince would object to Sister being blasted loudly to his audience before he comes on, right? wink

Actually it did remind me of Sketches of Spain a bit, maybe err all betting dreadful philistines by moaning about music from one of the greatest musicians of all time being played. smile

Yeah it was pretty awful. I have heard a bit of Miles Davis, which I didn't mind but what I heard was just plain shite

Daveoooo

I mentioned to my mate that it sounded Miles Davis-esque and he agreed, but we know nothing.

It was not N.E.W.S.

Yeah, at the Friday Manchester show it was just some dreary atonal jazz shite that seemed to loop for a good hour and a half. I swear it was the same track.

I remember from the 2010 and 2011 gigs that they played a lot of Prince songs(b-sides and stuff too) and related stuff(the family, the time, etc?) and even music video's in 2011 during europe gigs? i'm not 100 % sure anymore, but i think something like that.

that is way better. lol
