Love it!

.

How about when Prince was checking himself out - looking up on the big screen during a guitar solo .. hilarious!! biggrin

.

Such nuances lay credence to the claim he's one of the great showmen of all time .. as well as all of the other numerous talents cool

Looking around during our curfew busting party - and seeing moby lights all around the arena dancing wildly to 17 Days - was quite magical cool

I just loooooove pogo-ing to Guitar (and to not barge into anyone at all .. takes a lotta achilles power smile)

Chasingamy - a rare and brief post but says all it has to. Glad u had a good time, and really sounds like the security / queuing situation put the MEN completely in the shade (they were nothing short of a disgrace). Go to Leeds! Go to Leeds! Princey is calling u…

You know it, Mikey - once Prince has stared into your eyes twice in one nite .. those purple vampiric powers make me want to seek out a standing ticket for Friday already wink

I'm a bit worried about the set list. I'm going to see him in Antwerp next week and the show is starting to look like the old setlists again from 2010.

I wanted to see him again for the cool guitar stuff (endorphinmachine, i like it there, chaos and disorder).

Worried? Really?

Every single die-hard, long-time, seen-Prince-25-times poster on here has said this show is one of the best they've ever seen - if not THE best.

Sounds to me like you ought to be praying he does this setlist for you.

Hi all

Been a member here 4 years and never posted until now, but last nite was off the chain it was stupid how good it was, no one has mentioned purple rain so thought i would post, it felt like it was the first time prince had played it last night, it was extraodinary, he even changed up the guitar solo and had an intro to match the new york 85 version.

One gripe (i was number 27 on the front row, bang n front of the right ramp) to the blonde lady with the pig tails there is a time and a place for your record breaking screams u possess, and it is not all the way through sometimes it snows in april or the love we make! (the lady had the loudest voice i have ever heard and was seriously irratating quite a few people at the front)

I have to say - last nite I fell in love with Purple Rain all over again!

.

I had grown road-weary of it with it being such the quintessential Prince track to the masses .. but last nite as the purple confetti rained down on us ... was majestic!

.

Man, you had to choke up at how powerful that was cool

.

I've plenty more superlatives for last nite in my back pocket, don't you worry wink

I liked the guy with the beard at the front who was playing it cool all day, giving the air of famous, flashing his watch, talking about shooting tv programmes (maybe he was famous but nobody was sure who he thought he was) and making pals with the security - a very cool customer... Until Prince came close and then he lost it totally and started hollering "I love you Prince, I love you do much!!!" and appeared to be on the verge if tears I'm glad he enjoyed it

That's a guy called Jay. Big presence on Twitter. He was on Take Me Out in Jan and lived for Michael Jackson then... I don't think he'd seen Prince before Feb when he queued all night and day to be at the front. It payed off though because he got called up on stage to dance during Funk N Roll and he's all over the 2 You Tube vids 3EG put up. He was at the 2 Manchester shows at the weekend too (as spotted through Twitter) and I was very surprised to see him in Brum. Sure he's a nice guy but loves himself a bit too much.

Casual fan here, last night was my first Prince show. Originally had a ticket to the Manchester show on the 16th but couldn't go (would have sold it at face value to a fan here but I'd just signed up so I couldn't), had a great time! It's funny for me to see setlist gripes because I'm exactly the same with GNR (well, Axl's new GNR) and over at a GNR forum us fans are complaining that the setlist hasn't changed in decades razz Live in London but I was away during all the club shows, but I knew I had to see Prince so a trek to Birmingham (via the comfort and luxury of Megabus... shudder...) was in order.

I only know the hits, so I couldn't tell you if a song was a Prince deep cut or a 3rdEyeGirl track, but I enjoyed them all, and Prince is a master showman. I had the same feeling as another poster here that the beginning of the gig felt a bit by the numbers (even to someone like me it felt almost like going through the motions), but the show really picked up by the halfway point, and Purple Rain was indeed amazing (I have no other Prince concert experience as a point of reference but I could tell it was something special). My only gripe was that When Doves Cry seemed rushed through, and I didn't understand why Prince didn't take centre stage for that song, or why a backing track was used with all those (extremely talented) musicians on stage standing around left to do nothing. Is this usual for that song?

Would definitely consider seeing him again if the rumours of London arena shows are true!

That sounds like him (he mentioned take me out). Yes he seemed very nice...it was just real shock when he let himself go. Surprised he's been up on stage because I'm sure he was asking how and if he would call people up

Does any one know who the photographer is? Is she employed by Prince? I'd love to see some of her shots from last night. And yes, it is because i think i may be in a couple and what better memento could you have than a shot of the man himself and me with sheer delight writ large across my boat.

Tremendous concert. Prince really seemed to be enjoying himself and it was a pretty damn funky set. The setlist was heavy on the hits but they sounded re-worked and not in the least bit tired. Little Red Corvette, Nothing Compares 2 U and Purple Rain I've heard countless times but they sounded fresh and new yesterday. Quite simply the best showman around.

And a special thank you to the crowd. I was at number 92 for standing and nobody nearby tried to push to the front and everyone gave each other space to enjoy the concert. My feet may have been tired at the end of the night but standing is the only way to really enjoy a concert and the closer you get to the front the better!

Can't see anyone else mentioning so before i forget, Thanks to the lady in the purple tee who took it upon herself to do the fan numbering yesterday. It does not go unappreciated. Might not seem like much to scribble numbers on the back of peoples paws but it is appreciated, so thanks from no 26.

It was great great show and my first since O2.

I thought I was fed up with Purple Rain but that was the best performance of It I have witnessed.

Did he say let's go back to 82 before he played she's always in my hair?

I thought FunknRoll was great and went down really well for a new unknown song by most, also pretzel body logic was another highlight for me. I thought the encore was fantastic, quite a lot of people had left and they really missed out.

Possibly the best concert I've ever attended.

I love this 3rdeye girl band and just wish they would release Plectrum Electrum soon.

I think that was the guy in the front row at the academy gig back in february, if u watch the two songs on youtube 3rdeyegirl you'll see him there.
