Does Prince really video record all performances?

It's said by fans that every show is recorded on video but I wonder if that's true? Obviously some stuff gets released on YouTube, and some of the bigger shows have big screens, but at some of the smaller shows and aftershows I haven't spotted anyone with a camcorder. I clocked a guy in the balcony at King's Place, IIRC.

I assume every show is recorded on audio at the soundboard, but what about video?

I think it's true. Every performance i have been to there is a video camera. I read somewhere that he watches it back and corrects himself. Yeah a lot of correction is needed lol

Having said that I don't recall seeing cameras at the roundhouse. Anyone else see them?

He used to record the audio of every show, don't know if hes still doing it. As for video, I think he stated back in 85 that he videoed all his shows, but I didn't see many cameras past 1994. Maybe he stopped it post WB.

Certainly there were club shows this year where nothing was filmed, except for the the odd song or too for you tube.

I think he usually does. I once chatted up one of his band and they said that, before the encore, they watched some of the video and knew they had nailed it. And nailed it they had indeed.

I think he's recorded the vast majority. I heard somwhere that he sometimes watches footage between encores.

I got two sides... and they're both friends.

He surely recorded the Vienna show, in fact one cameraman was exactly in the way for me to see the front stage and I hated him with all my heart!

Do you know when he started recording the audio for his shows? Like, did he do it from the very beginning of his career or did he only start a few tours in? Cos' it would be crazy if we were one day able to hear some of those 1979 Prince Tour shows, it would be pretty damn historical. Still, not holding my breath for an official release ever occurring. Our best bet is probably a daring heist of Paisley Park.
