Why are so many of you saying 3EG won't sell out large arenas etc. . . I am not being funny but I have NEVER gone to a Prince gig to see any particular band member of the NPG or anything. It has always been about Prince. Heck he could be on there with The Saturdays (Please don't though) and I would go! Do you think anyone really cares who he is with? It isn't like he has ever had an absolute rubbish band. We all have our opinions on who is better etc but we cannot deny he has always had talented people with him. cool

It's about the material he plays. The majority of "Prince fans" are the people who own the old classics. Those are the people who sell out an arena. They'll wanna hear Purple Rain, WDC, LRC, Kiss, Raspberry Beret, etc.

i.e. - the songs he doesn't do with 3rdEye.

eh...i really dont understand what the problem is...here is his setlist from the last gig in manchester that i was at...and the band was brilliant...played some new stuff...was very rocky but the vast majority was his 80s stuff..casual prince fans will be more than happy with this setlist again..

Exactly ... When he was at the o2 we had hits... Actually i don't recall Prince ever not doing hits except maybe at the gold experience at wembley arena but forgive me as it was my first concert and i was quite young and have no idea what the set list was but all i know is i frikkin loved it!

oh my that is actually really expensive...

The pricing has surprised me, I think they may have over estimated how much people are willing to pay for an arena gig, the academy was a very limited supply (around 2000 upfront tickets) for 2 nights, to see Prince at a small venue is a unique experience, especially outside of London in the UK, so people were willing to pay for that rarity.

To price a ticket where you could be in the upper tiers at quite a distance and expected to pay £75 for the pleasure is going to test the sales and how much the casual fan is willing to pay.

uumm and it is quite short notice as well, hopefully it will get a lot of advertising

U know there ain't no other

I'm unsure whether standing or seating is the way to go for the M.E.N. Is being front row worth it like it was at the Academy shows?

thought this myself, but if its £135 for decent seating I dont know if i could justify that, unless the 135 is a golden circle area standing close to the front

It was well worth it at the academy - but the MEN to me is an unknown beast. Don't know how high the stage is if ur at the front, or for that matter if the have a celebs / press pit before u get to the crowd making u further back. And with the 'pitch' area being bigger I can't imagine how the queuing getting up front would work, as there'll be more people vying for the same spots. I may be wrong as I don't know the dimensions. Mate of mine has been there for a few gigs and suggests first tier blocks 115-113 and opposite are good views but seem quite distant to me.

It'll be interesting to see how this sells - and whether we've had an album release by then. Remember he was going back to release the album and then coming back? But surely the Prince solo album with Warner's promotion would sell the gigs better - who knows what's going on in his head!

When Doves Cry was released on the 16th of May 1984 so i'm gonna start a rumour right now that he'll walk onstage and play the entire of the Purple Rain album for the 30th anniversary lol

I managed to get front row at the second Academy gig, and as you say, it was WELL worth the queing. I'm 19 and very small, so even a few rows back from the front (like I was for the first Academy gig) I had a really hard time seeing much of anything. Block 115 and opposite are looking like the way to go if I dont end up standing.

I think the prices are a lil high too. Seeing him at the academy so close was so amazing, i was like 10 rows back and it felt amazing.

Not sure about where to sit though. I dont think i wanna be standing again because im just a lazy fuck and one time is always good enough for me so i'll settle for being a tad far back this time.

My dad said its better further back for sound anyway, when he went watching Rush he was at the front but when he went to go for a pee he was about three quarters of the way back and he said the sound was amazing from there.

So yeah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Beyonce charged those prices for higher tiers, and more for lower. I paid almost £400 middle tier for 2 seats.

For who it is i'm actually suprised at the top price, i'd pay well more. You pay for the show, and it's worth it.

Especialy at these prices:

Ticket Price

£72.20, £94.20 & £135.70

Includes admin fee
& £0.70 renovation levy
+ £2.50 fulfilment fee

Where are those Prices? Ticketmaster are tight lipped. Personally I would have paid £72.20 for a full blown show...but as it is I paid £75 for 15 songs at KOKO so very, very unlikely I'll be able to afford to go to this second run of shows.

Either pay and go or shut up, we dont care about your day at the Koko.

Yeah, when you were at the O2 you had hits.. because you had the full NPG. He can't play his classics (Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, Raspberry Beret, Kiss, U Got The Look, Cream, Controversy, 1999, Little Red Corvette... you know the rest) with just guitar, bass and drums.. he needs the full band.

3rdEyeGirl are a stripped down rock n' roll band. They don't do the synth soaked minneapolis funk-pop he is famous for.

Prince sells out arenas based on his classic back catalogue and image as a legendary 80's/90's "pop star" - 3EG don't cater to that audience, they cater to the 'true' Prince fans who know the rest of his music and look forward to new releases.

Unfortunately, there aren't enough of those "true" prince fans in the UK to sell out 4 arenas. Bringing the NPG would make way more sense, it's just simple business.

The Hop Farm show. That's the kind of thing he needs to do.

And for those Americans complaining about more UK shows.. these are his first regional UK (non-London) arena shows in almost 20 years, so quit your whining.

eek Oh my, got the news today, happy for sure. I hope to get tickets for the one in Birmingham, I have to fly from Norway for this. Pretty awesome on my birthday Prince is having a concert, and I have days off from work, pure luck I have to get there!

Hopefully it won´t sell out too fast! I am thinking of maybe going to two Prince gigs, if I get tickets, Manchester and Birmingham...a little UK Prince trip smile Does anyone know if he will play in Amsterdam later in May?
