Dammit, I wanted another London residency. razz

I like the fact that she says 3rdeyegirl and not NPG. I really hope it is a 3rdeyegirl tour, I really don't feel excited to go to another full band show. I would go of course but I want the rockier 3rdeyegirl stuff, been really enjoying the boots from the 3rdeye shows.

As much as that would have been good, at least it means I won't bankrupt myself going to every London show. If he does 3 or so in London that will do me nicely, plus maybe a few others in different cities which generally are easier in terms of securing tickets.

But then again, another 21 nights would be pretty special...

I hear you on the cost thing, the £31.21 tickets for the O2 were amazingly well priced. This time I fully expect much higher pricing, which will limit my attendance to 1 or 2 shows I think.

RIP sad

Going by that listing on Hannah's site it definitely sounds like a multiple city tour, although his manager tweeted 'LONDON ARE YOU READY?' not 'UK ARE YOU READY?' so i'm not so sure. It would be crazy to see Prince in either Liverpool or Manchester biggrin

I think the post from Hannah's site is incidental... It doesn't have the oomph of a Prince announcement. I think there's going to be more.

If he plays larger venues with 3rdEyeGirl only, and no NPG, then there are gonna be quite a few disappointed people, and probably some not great reviews.

He hasn't done a proper show in the UK since the O2 shows in '07, and he hasn't done a show outside London since well before then. The majority of people here dying to see Prince want to see the hits. They won't wanna see him play a bunch of new rock-ish tunes they've never heard with a 3 piece backing band. 3rdEyeGirl would do great at an intimate London venue, somewhere in Camden maybe? For the die-hards only.. but not a proper UK tour, and especially not arenas.

I have to say, I'm one of those people who would be disappointed. I only got really into Prince a few years ago, and I have never seen him live. All I've ever seen is footage, and as cool as some of the 3rdEyeGirl footage has been, I'd be gutted if I didn't get to see Purple Rain live. And you can't do Purple Rain properly without the NPG, it would sound so weak.

I wanna sing and dance to his classics! And so do most people, especially since people outside London haven't seen him since 2002, and even then it was only Manchester.

There are a whole cross section of fans who all have their own preferences. I persoanlly would like to hear some new stuff, some obscure stuff and some of the classics that are a bit more left field (shockadelica etc).I certainly don't want to listen to a set list containing nothing but the most mainstream stuff. Besides most of what would be considered Prince classics didn't see the charts as singles anyway.

I wasn't including Hop Farm since it was a festival date, not a proper Prince show. But even then, his success at Hop Farm just shows how popular his hits show with the NPG is.

I'm glad he wants to do new things and reinvent himself, instead of getting stuck going round and round doing the same nostalgia tour every year, but let's face it.. he hasn't been 'current' - in the UK, at least - for a long time. The only way he can sell a full UK arena tour is if he plays the hits with the NPG.

indeed. The little scrote has led us all on again. Was trying not to moan but had been really hoping this time that there may be some news...it's like having holidays in the leave book to look foward to, wonder what Dr Funkenberry has to say - his spreecasts kinda suggested something more than vaguely cryptic tweets / old lyrics.

No build up and no mind games woulda been better.

Oh well, here we go again.

I'll probably go to a show ...maybe wink

Seriously though, as usual it will come down to ticket price , convenience of getting tickets, logistics of getting to the most convenient venue etc.

I'm not sure I feel that "must see" factor anymore as I've been lucky enough to see Prince so many times in the UK since 1992. Excitement will probably kick in at some point though cool

I with Keithy on this one, I have been seeing Prince since 1986 and for the first time i'm not excited about seeing him perform the same songs over again, and 3rdeye dont do it for me.

Just saw DrFunkenberry alluded to that fans might have to wait longer for a tour announcement... ie it is not happening anytime soon. I also think the vids were meant as 'recompense' for the lack of tour announcement that everyone was expecting.
