So, Prince fam of the .org, I'd like to discuss...early show vs. late show. With the late show he can likely go as long as he wants until venue curfew, but depending on what type of show a person is interested in, that doesn't inherently mean it will be the "better" show. For example, might the early shows be more focused on songs in his canon and new material, while the later ones lean toward covers, jams, etc.? Of course, every single date/show could be different as the one constant is Prince does what he wants to do. With that said, your thoughts on eary show vs. late? Thanks in advance for replies.

I've never been able to figure out a "pattern" with his shows and what would be better (night 1 vs night 2; first vs late show). I've seen him at three small venues and several large arenas. So far, those three shows have been the BEST show experiences of my life! I don't think we'll be disappointed. My goal is to get my butt IN THERE!!!! It's going to be fantastic no matter what.

My goal is to shoot for one of the Seattle Thursday night shows because most people will probably go for Friday night.

A better idea would be to simply sell both shows at once as a package deal where the venue won't even have to clear out...not going to come up with some huge idea, but a rough draft would be this:

7:30-9:00 first show

9:00-11:00 local band/or support act like The Time

11:00-1:00 second show

That would limit the amount of different people who could potentially see the act.

FYI (I would like to buy two shows at once though.)

I would not want to see a show with a bunch of Hefty Trash Bags.

What would be great is for Prince to do a tour where he stayed in the same area for a week at a time, hitting clubs and arenas all within a 300 mile range every 10 days so the travel doesn't drive him crazy. 8 shows in 10 days without going more than 100 miles in a day would be easy.

Smaller venues have had the early show/late show format for some time now. It's not rocket surgery. lol

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

And it'd force us to read threads about how the shows were the same or whatever nonsense.

I have a question... when it says its a 3rd eye girl show with Prince. Does that mean its a Prince show with them backing him up... or should I expect limited prince singing/guitar at these shows?

I am quite curious to know that too, could there be additional Prince only dates, or is this it?
[Edited 3/20/13 22:41pm]

When he was promoting Tamar it was the same way...Tamar and the twins were featured and Prince was kind of a guitar playing band director if you will. Good show but not necessarily a Prince show. I would suspect if they have enough material it will be the same.

Maybe he will play at Showbox SoDo...

I was thinking the same thing but did you see the bands scheduled? E40. I'm pretty sure they will bounce him down to Showbox Sodo.

The Showbox site says the SoDo location is bigger so maybe that will be okay. It will be really tough to get tickets either way. The Paramount show for One Night Alone sold out super fast, though it was a great show.

Guess they could always beef it up a bit by chucking Andy in the mix too, as a special guest.

Looking at the sizes of these venues I can't see these shows other than as try-outs.

In the past he did that at the Park.

Well if this is a 3rdEyeGirl featuring Prince tour then the poster is misleading as it definitely advertises a Prince show (the biggest font on the poster).

I just saw Garbage at the Sodo location and it's a very cool venue for the type of show it seems like he's doing. Very intimate and with "pit" set up (no chairs!). He's the only artist I'll endure a pit for.

I was at the show he did December 2011 in Tacoma and the afterjam in Seattle. A lot of people were very disappointed in the show but the afterjam was AMAZING! He pretty much played back up to his band and backup singers. He bounced around and played every damn instrument on that stage. I was standing next to people who went because of their fond memories of the Prince from the 80's/90's. They were shocked and impressed at this musicianship having never heard him perform like this.

I live in the Seattle area and I have never been disappointed by his shows and performances. I'm going no matter what!

I tried to get tickets to the One Night Alone at the Paramount and my credit card saved on Ticketmaster had expired and I forgot to update it. Sold out before I could update my info. I WAS CRUSHED! Then I jumped back on and purchased a single ticket to Portland. Borrowed a friend's NPG member pass she had used at the Seattle show and got into the afterjam as well! BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE!!!!
