Wow! This is very big news! Hope everyone enjoys these shows!

Let's hope P can continue to pull this off without doing something stupid to tarnish it all.

DJ Rashid spinning new tunes! AWESOME!

Also don't think (or at least I hope) that Shelby and her annoying "put your hands up" will be part of the new band moving forward...

We will see...
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

So how many people will b able 2 witness all of this, any idea about the size of the venue?

It's a really small and intimate venue. I've only been once but it was a seated affair, with I'm guessing somewhere from 250 to maybe 400 capacity tops (I'm bad at these things). I'm guessing you could change that up, squish tables together and whatnot, but that would ruin what makes it such a great venue. Most seats are good ones except some booths along the wall the same side as the stage.

I'm gonna try to get tix to the first show Thursday night and that will be all.

Wednesday doesn't sound like fun to me and I have tickets to another show on Friday night. And I've been looking froward to that one for a while. If Friday were cheaper I might try to fit both shows in but for $200-250 I'm just gonna have my fun at the other show.

I, for one, think the news that groups like Fun. are still renting out Paisley Park is pretty big news!

Yeah good to see the Park is still in the music business. It certainly beats renting out the soundstage for Kirky J's fitness class.

For that kinda money it should be 3 hours with Larry, Maceo, Chaka, Mavis, Eric, Sheila, Wendy & Lisa as special guests!

So Prince is playing at a small Minneapols club AND he´s renting out Paisley Park? That´s two good news in one. Sounds good to me.

I'd take a half day off work and go to the Friday night show, but I haven't finished paying for (and am not over) the Chicago craptacular yet.

And at least I got to sit down for that.

It actually sounds like they're taking all the tables at stage level out. I would imagine the booths (which they can't remove) are going to be some kind of VIP deal. Maybe they're doing that in the balcony, too.

Boo. BOO!!!!

That's the whole point of why the Dakota is a great place. The stage isn't high enough for a standing show.

I know. We've been to several shows there.

And you KNOW people are going to start standing in line very early. That would be a very long, very cold day - unless they snake a line back and forth inside the lobby of the building.

I'm sure the Target people will love that. lol

I'm gonna need to figure this out. I assumed paying $100 was for an assigned seat show. Having it be general admission changes that significantly. Not sure I want to plunk down the cash for it if that's the case.

hmmm.... We'll see.

Smart woman. As long as I have an advance ticket for a GA show, I don't stand in line anymore, either. The sound is usually terrible right in front of the stage and I couldn't care less whether Prince can see me or not - or whether I get onstage. (And just F everybody's I, the stage at the Dakota is too small for him to bring people up there to dance, anyway.)

At the Vegas aftershow we attended, I was so close to Prince I could have pulled him (and his guitar) into my lap. It'll never be that good again, so I don't even bother. lol

"new drummer audition" on Wednesday night???

The 3rd eye band already lost one eye? Or competition for Hannah?

Quite interesting huh...how many drummers does he need?! I also saw this 4 wednesday nite: "DJ Rashida will spin new, unreleased music." eek

i think it'll still be hannah ford. she's never performed live with him in front of an audience

before, has she?

so this well be like her debut, or her 'live audition' so to speak.

i can't really imagine him having yet another drummer already when he's got hannah in

the wings, ready to go after practicing with him for months.

but then, with prince you just never know. my money is on hannah though.

as for the new unreleased music being debuted, all i can say is: bring your taperecorders lol

"Quite some floor space" is relative. The main level of the club is small, to begin with.

Well yes but 4 a Jazz club I think they can fit a decent audience 4 these events.

You scared me. The link on the Dakota's own site said 5:51pm earlier today.

I'm curious now, why/how/if that changed. I'm a few blocks from the Dakota. I may walk over there on my lunch today and ask.

Weird. I was just watching from livefromdarylshouse last night on you tube thinking how great it would be if there was channel or other venue to watch live rehearsals. eek
Wow really thinking bout jumping on a train tomorrow from New Orleans.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
