*Chapters & Verse - “I was walking in my yard and found a pile of purple money”

-p - more freestyling? - the horn section is getting down

from: http://jtismo.com/post/40...-jazz-club

At the start of new song, “Chapters and Verse,” he proclaimed it “medicine time,”strapping on his guitar for the first time. “This is the medicine show.”

Yeah I was wondering if Chapter & verse was Same Page Differnt book too. Lucky folks getting to hear Days of Wild, especially with the new horn section going on. Did they play during Days of Wild? All those who were there r a bunch of lucky so & so's 2 get 2 see this!!! razz It's seriously no fair. I feel like a bare footed Victorian orphan child, cold & hungry, dressed in rags, staring through the tiny frosted windows at all the fancy ladies & gentlemen wining & dining & feasting & dancing in an elegant & sumptuous salon... bawl I wanna see Prince perform soooo badly, it's really bloody painful!! lol [Edited 1/18/13 3:12am]

Sounds like you've watched Annie or Oliver one too many times, SometimesIwonder.

FYI Prince will be playing in London later this year, so save your tuppence now.

Went to the 8PM Thursday show.

The Dakota Jazz club is as good of a venue to see music as everyone said. The Dakota crowd is/was older, wealthier, and whiter than the usual Prince crowd. Lot of middle age dudes with younger girlfriends. But, by the end of the night Prince had them all on their feet acting/dancing like they were at First Ave. Quote of the night by Prince: "Get up and dance grandma!" to the one woman not dancing at her table.
"New Power slide...."

So what if the surprise tonight is a Revolution reunion? Saw Bobby Z. in the crowd last night. Dang, after such a good time last night I'm kicking myself for not clicking that buy button for Friday night when I had a chance! it was just the $250 plus bucks. Anyhow here is what I wrote up and posted elsewhere:

Prince was awesome! What can I say? Prince songs played included: Act of God (20ten), Housequake (Sign O' the Times), Satisfied (3121), Let's Work (Controversy), Something in the Water Does Not Compute (1999), Partyman (Batman Soundtrack)..Threw in some cover tunes like Jackson 5 Dancing Machine....oh yea....encore was Cool.....the song he wrote for the Time.."Minneapolis.. Yea..Is anybody hot? No... you know why? Why? cause its 50 below zero!".. Awesome vibe...started out by saying "dancing is allowed!" so we stood up and boogied! On stage he had guitarist, drummer, bass player, three female vocalists, a six piece horn section and 2nd keyboard. He ran around, danced, smiled, sang his heart out, joked with the crowd, obviously in a great mood and in his element. Only bummer for me was he played no guitar! And I love me some Prince guitar jams... oh well.. that will be a different show. Simply awesome to see him so close and we had a great spot. Spotted his Revolution drummer Bobby Z in the crowd.

"chapter and verse" is probably a different song than "same page different book"

he regularly mentions his own songs in lyrics.

Awesome! When I saw this I was totally going to post it here. I like that this is the only picture

from the show. you get a total sense of the stage, candles and all, and it adds to the whole last

minute surprise and dark secretive elements of the performance. I love it: no photograph

taking device allowed, get out the ol fashioned pen & paper!

But how do u know Prince will be playing London later this year though? How much later this year? Please God don't make it the first 2 weeks in July cuz I'll be in Tuscany & will surely cry my eyes out if I miss him.

It's sad Prince is so far from reality. $100+ per ticket for a jam session?

Who does he think he is? Michael Jackson?

LOVE THAT!!! cool biggrin

I didn't realize Lawanda Page, or rather her estate, had given Prince permission to paste her image to his drum kits. In fact he's been doing so for a couple of decades now, right? No worries. I'm sure he cut a check long ago so that Lawanda Page's heirs are receiving royalties for the use of her face as sort of a mascot for the NPG. There is no way Prince would use her image without permission. I'm sure if you look closely there is a little "c" for copyright used with permission on that drum kit. biggrin

So when he sampled Paul McCartney on the Gold Nigga album without permission, he just made a mistake, right? Prince clearly cares when someone uses his work without permission, but could care less about others.

As far as hearing about unreleased material I wouldn't hold your breath. Sounds like its mostly the rich folk going to these gigs , not the type that Troll the org looking for the latest crumb .

That comment sounds a bit obnoxious. You could pretty much say anybody who has a membership to a fan site is a "troll" in one form or another. He played "Act of God," which is not exactly praising the rich, is it? Prince may be a total ass most of the time, but he doesn't arrange his set lists based on the economic levels of his crowd.

Umm no slow jam that's not what i meant. Somone asked why we haven't heard anything about unreleased material on the org & my response was referencing the type that go to these gigs are privilidged folk, not hardcore fans. In other words they wouldn't recognize an unreleased gem from a "Kiss" & I doubt most of em' even know the Org exists let alone would post info here.

Its obvious he could have charged more for each night and still sold out.

i seen him so many times (seriously lost count) for free or a token $7 at paisley park back in the day that ANY cost to see him is not a problem and i just shrug it off.

I was there. I was an org moderator once upon a time. I think I'm the kind of person who would recognize an unreleased gem from "Kiss".

I am admittedly privileged enough to be able to afford one of the shows (thought tonight's price tag seemed a bit exorbitant so I stuck to last night). I also recognized many folks who have been fans for a very long time around these parts.

Sure, there were folks who didn't recognize a single song. So what? They had an awesome time as well.

As for unreleased tracks, I was too overwhelmed by the performance when it first concluded to notice what was going on and they shuttled us out quickly after to clean up and start letting the second show crowd in.

Maybe that's why no one posted about any unreleased tracks from last night.
