What a bizarre overgeneralization. You could just as easily argue that anyone who goes to this concert is selfish because they could donate the amount of the ticket price directly to the charity, skip the concert, and cut out the middleman.

Chicago is in for a treat. We here in Cali4nia have been lucky enough 2 have him 4 21 nite & no matter what else was said he tore it up. We we're so spoiled.....Prince moves better than ever & is in the toppest shape of his life. He has great endurance & stamina 7 go 4 hours...

If you have a Citicard, you qualify for the pre sale by virtue of the card. If you have a Live Nation account, you get a special pass and screen.

Did some math and if they announce dates on 10/3 or 10/4 then I can swing it without using vacation time(that I'm tapped out on) and without breaking the bank. Perfect reason to see Chicago again. Last trip I ran through the downtown area so fast. I barely remember any spots we hit!

It would and a major plus is that flights from NYC to Chicago are so short they aren't horrifically grueling!

That is true! The best seats, actually, from myW2A experiences are on the elevated sides of the symbol between the arrow point and the cross of the symbol... If you get the front rows in these sections, you have a great view. The floor, right in front of the arrow point, does not afford the best view.

Thanks! Another tip for those combating for the best seats during pre-sales on Ticketbastard--the first tickets released, even for credit card pre-sales, aren't necessarily the best... If you wait, from my experience, they release better seats in sections held back during the pre-sales...

If you're not sitting in floor or table seats, according to that seating map, which is similar to MSG in NYC, and other venues, I would say rows 101 and 122 and sections, 111-112, the lower red seats would be a good view or atleast close to the stage.

OMG, this will be my 1st Prince concert; when i got home from school Friday i looked in my email and there it was "Welcome 2 Chicago" i nearly had a heartattack...i pulled a Tom Cuise and Yes With My Shoes On Jumped on my mother's couch; sorry mom i was just so happy plus my pops is taking me.

Now I can get back to worrying about important things. Like whether I should go expensive for one show or "cheap" for multiples. And guessing which show will be longest/have the best setlist. And whether/when there will be aftershows.

Don´t worry about setlists and don´t complain about how he was "back in the days" and so on....

Why does the seating chart look like 2/3 of the seats are behind the stage where the band sets up? Those seats behind the top of the symbol look horrible!! Can anyone give insight on these seats that has been?

That is true! The best seats, actually, from myW2A experiences are on the elevated sides of the symbol between the arrow point and the cross of the symbol... If you get the front rows in these sections, you have a great view. The floor, right in front of the arrow point, does not afford the best view.

I went to W2A and we were at the back of the symbol on the floor and our positioning was SWEET!!! I read so much negative stuff about these seats, but after going to a concert I realised this must have been written by people who want to sit in their seat all night. The concert we were at we could go anywhere on the floor, and Prince was right there, 2 metres away! Who wants to sit in their seat all night with Prince playing right there? We came to the conclusion that these seats were some of the best in the house, as the VIP section had tables in the way so dancing would have been constricting, (we were right next to them chatting to them all night by the way, for $100AU less, and more room) and the other floor seats were alot furthur away from the man, pretty sure the pointy end wouldn't have been that great, but at long as he's in the middle of the stage which he mostly his you can see him sweet, but when he comes around the back of the circle you could almost touch him, which you can't with the other floor seats cause the VIP tables are in the way. Also, he tends to face the circle ALOT of the time so he can communicate with his band, and like I said earlier you can move pretty much anywhere on the floor as well.

We almost swapped for the tiered seats but so glad we didn't - don't belive the negativity about these seats everyone!!!

Has anyone heard if and if so how many more shows he will do? We checked the United Center Web site and they just have scattered dates here and there. The Hocky Pre games are starting very close to that.. plus basketball pre games..???? Would he really do a few shows there.. pull the whole stage down for a night or so then have it re put back up at the same venue? That sounds like a ton of work for his crew (ok, not that HE would care... but still)

Also.. I am very confussed at the seating area.. on the Symbol does the band set up around the O park of the Symbol.. or back near the > part??? I have seen alot of shows. but never with that type stage..

which part is best to sit near???? thanks for the help???

That's in Australia though--I had floor seats in front of the arrow in New Jersey and everytime people tried to stand in the aisle for a better view or to dance security made us go back to our seats. Only at the end of the night during his encores would they let us go stand wherever we wanted in front of the stage...

I was thinking the exact same thing! Would love to fly out and see a show but also don't want to go solo. The only friend of mine who I THINK I can convince/coerce into coming with me would only be willing to go for a Friday or Saturday show, and there aren't too many open dates on the United Center calendar... Make it happen for me, Prince!

oh stinkers man that sux!!! Prince's first song was DMSR and we were on the floor way before he said "everybody get on the floor what the hell u come here for!"

If you can't get out of your seat then not a good place to be I agree, best to check out with the event centre - I mean Prince wants u outta your seat!!!

I really find it hard to beleive that Prince be able to sell out multiple nights at the United Center.

I would say best vantage point is 121-122 (by the curve of the horn, which is where his piano is) or 112-113 where the other side of the horn is--where he spent a good amount of time. From both sides you can see him when he's in the center by the mic.

As for floor seats, I would say FL4 and FL5, since he faces that side most of the time. (At Madison Sq Garden similar seats were on a tier/ramp so it was elevated somewhat). Kind of odd that they positioned the stage so most of the floor seats are behind the circle, where he only occasionally would walk around.

If you're seeing multiple shows, it's worth getting a seat higher up so you can take in the full view of the symbol. The lighting for W2A shows in New York was amazing, not only the synchronization with the LED lights framing the stage, but the color flushes as well from the spotlights.

I didn't see any value to those VIP tables. Unless you're trying to get pulled up on stage to dance.

Ahhh... Cool! Thanks for the info. How long do these residencies usually last? About a month? Is there any chance that some shows could be at smaller venues? Not an aftershow, but the main show? I know this is all guesswork and I should just be patient and wait for the official word, but just putting it out there in case the universe is listening!

Your best bet would be to contact Live Nation support. The last time I bought tickets through them via a Citicard presale it was The Wiggles about 5 years ago. Science marches on, so they may have a different way of doing this. I just remember that I had access to a screen where I put in my cc info and it knew right away that it was a Citicard.

I had the same idea. There are cheap flights from Dallas to all of those other cities, and those who don't want to fly can drive. Same for New Orleans. He did something similar in North Carolina and I'll bet he has even more fans in Texas.

I'm going 9/24 for sure. But Chicago is close enough that I could easily drive down for another show - and drive back the same night (so no need for a hotel). All I'd need to do is leave work early one day and go in late the next. Piece o' cake.

Frankly, biggest challenge will be finding someone to go with me. Sweetie'll go to one show - but I don't think I can get him to more than that.

that was the price in NYC/NJ when this tour started. The Purple Circle VIP is actually $1500 because they only sold it in pairs. I did the $500 VIP and had a blast. I wound up sitting next to Sherri Shephard from the View and in front of Naomi Campbell.

For the W2A concerts in 2010/2011 in the U.S., with the exception of Madison Square Garden and L.A., Prince tended to do residency concerts over a three-day period. After this trio, he just might move on to another "residency" in another city...

Then don't go, as simple as that. Shows are more for casual/enthusiastic fans who fill up more than 80% of the stadium anyway, and they'll complain if they hear him play songs that they're not familiar with. He CAN'T please every single purple person in the world so really, deal with it.

He must have more than a up his sleeves. I'm hopeful Chicago is in for something most cities have not recently heard.

um i've seen it he's heard the shows and ur point would be what exactly? someone doesn't like it they don't like it plain and simple yet it's a prince sin 2 call him out on the bullshit shows he's been doing.

i'm more excited about sept 18th and then thanksgiving because it's more exciting than seeing his shows of late. watch when these shows happen, someone other than us two will say 'damn shelby sang 2 ghatdamn much" or "he did too many cover songs" right alongside someone else saying "it was the best show ever"

That's why those artists stop playing those songs a over a decade ago!

The large crowds only wanna hear obscure shit that nobody knows or new songs from an album that most of them didn't buy!

If they do play these songs that aren't in any way beloved or that particular artist is known for, they're just being lazy bastards that only care about money!

It's actually NOT a good point. The title of this thread is "Prince Announces Welcome 2 Chicago Residency". Nowhere in it does it say anything about "only post here if you're discussing buying tickets". No one's trying to "poop on them". Why would someone let what me and a few others say ruin an experience for them in the first place? If they do, then that's really on them.

Believe me. It is so much better to be able to enjoy yourself at a Prince concert, than continue to be frustrated or unhappy with his new concerts...be very happy you're not in the latter group.

That's why I don't let the complainers bother me cuz at the end of the day, I'm having the time of life and don't have to rely on watching old videos for the 100th time just to get satisifed.

So go on and have yourself a ball! You'll discover its like a big ole party that you wish never stopped.

I wish I as able to go. If Prince performs a little closer to the NJ/NJ/CT/PA area I'm going!

It's actually NOT a good point. The title of this thread is "Prince Announces Welcome 2 Chicago Residency". Nowhere in it does it say anything about "only post here if you're discussing buying tickets". No one's trying to "poop on them". Why would someone let what me and a few others say ruin an experience for them in the first place? If they do, then that's really on them.

We are calling too. We got section 121 row 5 and based on the one seat chart they look like awsome seats. .but the 2nd one not good..

Ticketmaster is a real piece of shit.. there are so many problems. WHY can't Prince have his own ticket sales like he did in 2004. that was so easy and we real fans got good close seats.. sigh
