Song played over the PA at North Sea Jazz?

Hey folks,

Prior to the shows at North Sea Jazz several songs were played over the PA. Right after the Sade song (if I remember right) there was a beautiful slow ballad, bit synthy, female voice... I couldn't quite make out the lyrics, but I would love to know who and what it was.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Prenzz

ADD: To give you an idea, the song reminded me of an Annie Lennox song called "Don't Let It Bring You Down", but then more souly. If that helps... wink

I remember the Sade song, but wasn't 'Somewhere Here On Earth' by Prince himself played next? You should google it if you don't know the song.

Have a look at 'The W2A: Euro Tour Song Survey' http://prince.org/msg/12/362417

Hey Trashcat,

Thanks, but it wasn't that. I know that song. Damn thing is I could't really follow the lyrics, so I can't Google it either. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Prince song (that I know of), and wasn't sung by Prince either...

Or something from Janelle Monae? (' Sir Greendown' maybe?)

Was it Fleetwood Mac with "Dreams"?

I was amazed at the audience response: Everyone seemed to know the lyrics???

Janelle: No, or not that song anyway... Don't know her other work so I can't judge that.

Fleetwood Mac: Nope.

Mavis Staples: Nope.

It was a contemporary-sounding slow ballad, young and clear sounding female voice. Bit poppy, souly type of music. Not much instruments, maybe even just synthesizer and/or acoustic guitar.

I'm going slightly mad, even feeling I've made some song up...! razz (Which I've not to make things clear).

Anyone has Princes phone number so I can ask? lol

Could it be a song by Bria Valente (don't know here songs, cuz i've never played Elixer-album which was included with Lotusflower).

Maybe you can contact AndyAllo on Facebook, as long as you can't call Prince biggrin

Hi Sander,

Good tip. I have to admit, never listened to Elixer either. Shame really... confused But that's another story.

And you started to make me doubt. It could well be the title track; Elixer. Was it?? Don't know anymore...

Well, if anything comes from this tread anyhow, then it is that I'm gonna give Elixer a complete listen.

Thanks everybody!

Just watched a bit of the North Sea Jazz Day 2 footage. Could I've been talking about "Nothing More", second song of the setlist? Is there anything known about this song? It's on Andy Allo's Twitter mentioned as a new song (of hers?).
