Getting really excited about the show now as we are just 10 days away. I live in Malahide and will be travelling back there from USA Wednesday. i will drop by the park before the weekend and if the staging is in development I will take some photos and post...can someone give me instructions on how to post a photo....

By the way, the residents are really looking forward to the Prince weekend. This is the first concert in since 2009 and the only one this year. In addition the park now stays open right up until day of concert where as in the past they closed it for 2 days and with 5 shows in 2008/2009, people becamce pissed...again, not the case this time. Curfew in Ireland is not residental driven, it is 11PM for all outdoor concerts in the city per department of environment policy...wanted to clear this up as there were some un-truths in previous posts.

Love the purple Balloon idea, how about we also bring the glow sticks smile

Also starting to think about setlist. I would love to hear

Only love there is... never heard it live before...

Future soul sond / dear mr man...never heard before either

Planet Earth....My favorite song of the past decade. he played it twice @ O2, it was AWESOME

Little Red Corvette....need some nostalgia and the recent versions are awesome.

also cannot wait for Prince's first ever interview with Ireland press this Sunday 7/24 with sunday independent. I wonder will croke park get mentioned, sadly I am still holding out for closure here. I want to hear Price say ..." I fucked it up, it was all my fault, sorry to my fams and fans"...ha ha ha , that'll never happen

I am speculating Prince will bring his own support acts. If they were Ireland acts / non Prince related, I think they'd be announced by now

Hey Everyone

There is Prince Cover Band playing in Gibneys pub before the gig and after the Gig.

The band are called Sign O the Times.

This might be a good place for Prince.org people to meet up.

More information to come soon

"The sky was all purple, there were people running everywhere...." I know my imaginationrunswildattimes, but that is one more scary looking castle. Did anyone else hear the door screeech open as Prince walked down the wide corridor as his heels clicked tapping the tiled floor? Suddenly he appeared at the entrance holding a purple guitar? Njoy the show bwaaahawaahhahahaa. cool

Just had a look at Mint Condition's official website, they're playing in the US on the 30th - definitely won't be supporting. Janelle Monae was ruled out on the previous thread. Larry's site doesn't list anything for the 30th however, guess it just depends now on who's providing the support. Personally I hope it's someone recognisable to the majority of the crowd, I'm willing to try new stuff but I've been to gigs with unknown support who've really ruined the vibe.

I like the idea of balloons and glo sticks for later in the night, too. Last year when we went to Arras the crowd was very, dead - no dancing or movement, just standing watching. I think with some something to wave about, might encourage people to dance around more...???

Im very excited about the concert!!! Looking forward to the cover band in Gibneys beforehand to get us in the mood! I hope the support is someone recognisable - Janelle Monae would have been awesome!!

I would appreciate an interacting crowd. Not chatting about whatver non-related subject but intensely watching, maybe moving, clapping (not out of rhythm, please), dancing, etc.

I.e.: focussed on the performance and what it produces within you.

That was what I hated about the final Rotterdam show: too many idiots around me that were 'not so very interested' (euphemism...!) unless Purple Rain or Kiss came along.

I don't think it will be dark enough for glow sticks.

If its a decent day weather wise it will be bright still when the gig ends.

You are always going to get that at a large capacity gig. Unfortunately a lot of the people won't have heard anything outside "The Hits disc1". sad

Thats why the aftershows have always been gold for me.

biggrin

c'mon Princey give us an aftershow!!

eek

After around 21:30 it will be getting dark.

See this.

So glowsticks do make sense.

Or do you think it will be a matinee kind of performance for reasons that I not yet know?

No, Rory is right, if it's a good day it will still be too bright. We get quite a long stretch of 'sunset' before it gets properly dark.

Yes, officially sunset is at 21:30, but if it's a nice day (i.e. not cloudy) then it will still be relatively bright at 10:30, and it won't be properly dark for at least another hour after that.

Assuming it ends around 10:30ish, then it might be just about dark enough for them near the end.

Or if it rains.

Or if Prince decides to play later than the curfew and pay the resulting fine (doubtful).

So if you want glo-sticks, pray for rain. smile

Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
