Great thread - this is the very issue Ive been struggling with.

I've decided to find a place near Harcourt Street which is where Tripod club is. That way I can be near the probable aftreshow venue (if there is one) and its still only 10 minute walk to train station for train to Malahide.

I'm travelling alone, as friends and wife will not fork out money to see Prince unfortunately. So I'm thinking of reliving my travelling days and get a hostel room to save a few quid.

Options are a private room ina hostel virtually right by Tripod for E56, a private room 10 minutes walk from club for E40 or a shared room right near club for E23.

Cant decide??

Is it dodgy walking the streets of that part of the City or is it quite a busy place...anyone know?

p.s. Raji, that Morrison Hotel looks awesome!!

Clare, ur hotel is also right near Tripod. I looked at it but its a bit pricey for single occupancy! Might be right next door though, depending on which gaff i go for?

That's one of the reasons we picked it. Living in hope of an aftershow, although as more and more gigs have been added to the tour in so many countries he may need to get some zzzzzzzzzzzzz. If no aftershow thought this would be near some sort of nightlife. I've never been to Dublin but I know a lad who has stayed there and recommended it. He also recommended the HArcourt Hotel but that was more expensive. Looked lovely though.

Also the hotel has leisure facilities that we can use to freshen up and get our glad rags on if the rooms not ready till the afternoon.

Let us know if there is a get together anywhere near. cool

I thought there was still a 6 day break between Dublin and his next gig....its his biggest break within his schedule, I the reckon aftershow is still possible!

Berlin is unconfirmed for the 4th August. But by Dublin he will have been on quite an intensive tour around Europe for more than a month. I really hope he plays Tripod but we will just have to wait and see and stay calm! excited

I'm staying at The Castle hotel near Parnell Square.

A nice hotel with a great breakfast.

I am going to Malahide by train, it's cheap and a short walk to the castle.

Does anyone know if clubs and bars in Dublin have a dress code concerning jeans? We are planning on heading into Dublin after the concert so will likely be in jeans. I have emailed Tripod to ask about their dress code but got no response. sad

You'll be fine with jeans. In a lot of places runners, hoodies and sports shirts they generally don't allow.

Thanks for the advice. Sorry to be a bit dim, but what are runners? Are they trainers or jogging pants? confuse

Just decided we are going (the wife and I) to go to this show. Going to fly from the UK, and looking at staying in the Premier Inn at the airport. Will probably come over on the Friday, so we can get a day in Dublin on Saturday and return to the UK on Sunday.

Any tips for getting to and from the concert, and if there is an aftershow, what is public transport like at that time of the morning?

Ok - just booked accommodation.

Im going to re-live my travelling days and stay in a hostel...as Im on my own I can't justify single occupancy rates in a nice hotel...and wife not being there means luxury is not a necessity!

Ive booked the Times Hostel which has good reviews and is a stone throw away from Tripod.

Cost me 20 Euros!!

See you all in Malahide - any plans for a pre show piss up/meet up in Malahide yet?
