Oh I heard it, but did not see it. I was waiting in line to get into the aftershow.

I posted it earlier in this thread, but we did hear it from Prince himself... at the Jazz Cafe show at the House of Blues. He announced that this was his last weekend at the Forum.

Well at the end of Purple Rain, which is also where he did his tribute to the bands that he saw at The Forum, he repeated "21" a few times and when he was lowered under the stage he kept flashing 2 and 1 with his fingers. It felt like #21 to me.

I will say, though that he said one thing last night that might hint at another LA show, depending on whether you choose to read into it or not. During one song (I can't remember which) he said something like, 'Do you feel good tonight? You'll feel even better tomorrow.' I have NO idea if that means anything, though.

I heard that, too and thought the same thing. My friend and I both wondered if it mean something. We think almost EVERYTHING he says has some hidden meaning.

It seems to be up-in-the-air as usual with Prince. I asked several Forum staff members last night if Sunday was the final concert and they all seemed to think he would do one more weekend. But, as is the norm in Princeland, that is a very BIG MAYBE!!!

I don't really see him doing the Pond. Why would he go down the road for another venue? However, I am hoping for another small venue show. I don't think he'll do it, but I'm hoping!

Glad you got to go ihatephish! If it is the last W2A show--not the cleanest wrap-up (would have liked more of the unexpected!) but very satisfying nonetheless.Hope you really enjoyed it! Even if he plays in LA again--I can't go, so I am happy with the three hour show he did last night--which mirrored the Oakland fervor. BTW Prince played Bambi at the Oracle--I was floored by it! I'm sorry he didn't play it more in the W2A set.

Thanks--I was sitting in Loge and I heard Prince say something about 21 nights but I couldn't hear exactly what he said over the chatter around me. Despite what some crew members stated to me about more possible concerts--I had the impression that this Memorial Day weekend was it--so, I hope it was as memorable for everyone who went as it was for me.

I heard that he kept talking about 21 shows, and that how much he loved the Forum and Saving it... So I am thinking that he will come back... All the dates and counting are off and I count 18 done as of last night. The shows in San Jose, Fresno, and the HOB DONT COUNT!!!!!!! But we shall see.

He flashed 21 with his fingers one more than 1 occasion. I went to 3 concerts and he did that each and every time. It hast been 21, HOB and San Jose and Fresno dont count. But we shall see, its all up to him, and what I do know is that he kept talking about saving the Forum..

Yup, DaveG, I've heard him say that at a couple of other concerts too but last night I thought, "mmm, no I won't" I knew today would be BitterSweet.

I agree with U DaveG, that's what he meant because I can't believe how going to these concerts has ignited a fire in me again for good music back to the levels of when I was a teenager or in my 20's. Of course, music is a huge part of my life, but my appreciation has deepened and diversified just this last week.

Last night, driving by myself to the concert I was flying down the fwy, stereo cranked, just groovin' and dancin' looking forward to the epic Closing Night ahead. It reminded me of so many other nights I was going to see Prince for the last time when I was younger. As I was driving I thought 2nite will be all Prince. He knows what we want. And it WAS all him.

What a gift of a long run we received and the gifts will keep on multiplying in the months to come. Thank u Prince. I'll be watching you in your travels. Peace & Be Wild!

Everyooe keeps mentioning the HOB shows, what about the Troubadour shows? Do they also not count? It IS practically right down the street, I even passed it on my way to the 7pm HOB show...

If no more shows are added, then it is fairly clear that the formula in Prince's head is:

15 Forum Shows + 2 Troubadour Shows + 3 HOB Shows + 1 GLopez Show = 21 Shows

It's strange, but not any stranger than everything else Prince does....

Hey DaveG didn't he do Lopez on 4/13. Then the 21 nights started that weekend 4/14 (the famous opener)

18 Forum Shows, 1 GLopez, 1 Troubadour & 1 HOB?

That's the math I was doing and that's why I got my closing night ticket the day after HOB performances.
