He did seem to be really enjoying tonight and he wasn't the only one wink

After four incredible performances in less than 10 days, I was a little worried that tonight might have been a tiiiny bit of a disappointment, but it wasn't even close. It was a perfect ending to a perfect trip and I have wonderful memories to take home with me biggrin

His kiss dance was definitely extra funky tonight, even with a bit of old-school, 'Cream'-style humping the floor in the mix!

The setlist was great and LRC and PR were especially potent tonight. Maybe it was because it was my last, but I was really feeling them, even more than the other nights.

I've met some wonderful people in my travels, some from here on the org and others that I've just met at the shows, and feel very blessed to have made such great connections. Prince fans are awesome! biggrin

Thanks once again to Prince & crew for a thoroughly enjoyable purple vacation!! heart

U r blessed! smile

I am so glad everyone enjoyed themselves. It seemed like a great show and similar to the 5/19 show with the exception of a couple of songs and Bria ( who I could do without). I attended the 5/19 show and enjoyed it and considered it my best concert experience. Just a couple of questions:

- during delirous, did morris hayes and cassendra have solo parts? ( this was on the highligts for me because Prince let his band loose and they killed it. morris and cassendra are so talented)

- did the people put their cellphones in the air during hothing like 5/19? ( this was another highlight for me because it is one my favorite songs and its the first time I heard it and because it most have pissed off the ushers because they kept harassing people with cellphones the whole night LOL)

- were there a lot upgrades, a lot of people on 5/19 got upgrades including myself

- was the place soldout?

- was the show filmed, 5/19 was filmed

I'm still having withdrawls from the show as I know many of your are too. I hope he comes back to SJ or Oakland soon and maybe if we're luky we could get 21 nights bay area.

-No one really had solo parts last night....except for Renato Neto for a brief couple minutes, but that was it. and shelby J and the gals did not sing a song without prince.

-people took there cell phones out at the last encore when he played Controversy..still really cool

-i didnt hear of any ugrades for last night...it was sold out, unlike thursdays show. Honestly, i went to both and P was not on his game thursday, he seemed a little unhappy cuz there werent very many people. on saturday, he came out playing DMSR with a huge ass smile on his face and he was playin with the crowd and everything....on thursday the upper level was considerably empty were as yesterday it was completely full!

Renato had an extended solo on one song. Also, there were a ton of upgrades. I got upgraded from Upper Level to section 106 along with a bunch of other people around me. He was feeling the crowd a whole lot more last night then on Thursday. During Shhh he said "Oh, I'm taking my time tonight." On another note, did anyone else notice the look on Bria's face when during IIWUG, instead of saying, "Could I make you breakfast sometime," he said, "Would you let me touch it?" Ha Ha

There were upgrades. The 3 or 4 sections of the upper ring behind the stage were blocked off with curtains.

Saturday was 10 times better than Thursday. I really enjoyed it even though he did a very predictable setlist.

He finds bimbos with low IQ's who will do what he says and not buck when he brings his other girlfriends around. Prince has an entourage of females and Bria knows it. She stays with him for the money and spotlight. I cant speak on any of the other hussies because I dont know. Except to say that poor Misty doesnt know any better. Good for her she has her own career. I just hope she doesnt let him destroy it.

Prince gets what he asks for. Sadly.

The only reason Bria is around is because Misty is busy with her career and Prince hates being alone.

Gotta change gears and say how absolutely FINE the Twinz are!! I was in the VIP section right by the stairs and had the good fortune of seeing these ladies dance up close for a good part of the concert...I found myself, at times, forgetting that Prince was even singing!! I got a REALLY good look at the beginning when they were posted on the stairs with the faux horns they played on DMSR...mmmm mmmmm!!! Such bodies!! I have a new respect for Prince and his ability to find women like this. The outfits they had on during the last set...dayum. DAYUM!!

Oh, and the music was aiight too!!! I particularly dug the sampler set...bought back many memories, showcased his voice, and "Forever In My Life" and "If I Was Your Girlfriend" were right on time!!! My wife and I really, really love those songs.

PR was inspired, and, oh, I thought Larry Graham and GCS really got down as well. I wasn't too hot on seeing them again, but damn that man can play that bass. And how old is he?? Running across the stage and across the floor, gettin his sweat on?? They did a great job on the Sly tunes. Funky.

All in all had a great night, the Pavilion was easy to get in and out of, no drama, huge beers, and great people.

As someone who has seen Prince prolly about 100 times, and really got used to his raw ass back in the day and miss it much, this was still one of the best concerts I've seen in a long time.

Ditto what other folks have been saying here. I splurged on VIP seats for both Thurs and Sat, after seeing all of his shows in Oakland in February. After Thursday, I was like, that was fine, but I though my Prince love was waning. Oh no. Saturday was one of those moments where you are lifted up so high, you get off on the music; just total, total joy. THIS is why we go to his shows. The Beautiful Ones was unquestionably the highlight of Thursday, Saturday's had so many apexes... Little Red Corvette was on fire, Nothing Compares to You, Delirious... As others have said, LOVED that he played 1999 given the whole rapture bruhaha.

He moved around the stage a lot more than he had on Thursday. Also, I felt that he was really showing us his unbelievable guitar gifts on Saturday in a way he just hinted at on Thursday. Though the guitar solo for Purple Rain was longer and better at the Thursday show.

I appreciated his use of Shelby in this show, notable on Nothing Compares, she rocked it.

Not a fan of the Twins. During Controversy, they stood directly in front of me so I couldn't even see P. There dancing was often not synchronized, and on Thurs, one of 'em fell over at one point. I'm under the impression that one twin is a better dancer than the other.

I was on floor one so I didn't know it was Bria at the piano. Too bad, Misty seems like an awesome lady and I'd love to see P w her....

Loved that he took pics of the crowd! He took two where of my peeps in the VIP, i'm scared that i am making a horrible face in the pics... c'est la vie.

Anywho, after Saturday's show, I'm buying me some tickets to some more shows. Leaving for Europe for the summer and Prince is playing Paris, and maybe Montreux again.... after 5 shows so far this year and 7 in my lifetime, I am feeling like an addict, addicted to that unbelievable high that you get when you surrender to his music. Wow.

Another amazing show. If I Was Your Girlfriend, definitely the highlight for the night.

Was anyone else in the general floor pit behind the O in "O ( + >" stage? Kinda crappy seats, his back was to us the majority of the time, but when he came around, it was insane! Some sadsacks around me were just chin-stroking the entire time, have people forgotten how to dance?

Anyways, Prince...I will see you the next time you play the Bay.

I was wondering how those seats were...

this was my view...

that view combined with the big TV's and two largely over-priced beers made for a fantastic show (but it doesn't hold a candle to SOTT in Utrecht giggle ).

also great was meeting a few orgers after the show!!

Another great Prince show. If I were just to look at the set list, I would shrug and go "yeah pretty standard." But set lists by design are unable to convey the nuances of the performance. I must have heard him play LRC 60+ times, but last nights version was one of the best I have witnessed. Extended emotional guitar solos through out.

I would describe the whole show as being extremely energetic, extended and joyful.

I had an excellent seat, though not actually the one I was suppose to be in, section 112, one of those single end of narrow row seats. So I had plenty of room to dance about. Right behind me were a two people who sat through the whole concert, I thought about sitting during the slow intro to LRC, but then thought, sorry, but I got to move to the music. I am 49 and danced my ass off. And I shook "my body like I just don't care." Today my body is saying, ha ha ha, you are not 24 anymore, ha ha ha. But it is a good kind of soreness.

I thought the energy was pretty great last night from the crowd. Not quite Oakland in Feb. but close.

I just love Sheila, always have since the first time I saw her before the Glam life came out at a one off gig at First Ave. The amount of love sent to her by the audience at the end of Glam Life was amazing. The close up on the big screen showed her wiping back tears, I felt like crying in joy for her. After everything she has been through, she is a survivor and she can tear up the percussion set like no one else.

Last night was my first live Nothing Compares... The power of that song!! Loved it.

In general I did not feel like he was rushing through songs. And it seemed to me that he was digging into old songs and finding fresh inspiration. I guess that is why so many of us go to every show we can. While he certainly can play an "off the rack" show, last night was couture all the way. Patterns may have been used many times in the past, but there were fresh elements and while he may simply be an incredible performer, it felt to me like the emotion in the songs was genuine.

Before the show in Feb. I had not seen Prince since 1997. And at the Oakland show, I was a dork and left when the house lights came on. Which in way was OK, as I live 145 miles south in Big Sur and it was going to be a long ride, yeah, I was fucking bummed as hell when I saw the set list and realized all I had missed.

So last night was my first live hearing of the sample portion of the show. I loved it. He did a pretty complete Doves, longer bit of Nasty Girls than I have heard on tape. I thought it was great fun. I can see how it perhaps gets old for people who have seen many shows. But it is the unknown element of it, and I loved hearing even brief parts of all of the songs. I think it translates very poorly to tape and video in the sense that you have the set list in front of you and you know what he is going to play. And yes sample portion has a pattern, but it is the unknown, the anticipation of what could be pulled out. For me the high point was Hot Thing.

Loved it when Prince came on stage with his little pocket brownie camera and was taking pictures of the audience. That was a joke, his camera was pro as pro gets. But the irony of the guy who won't let me bring a camera in to the show but him taking pictures of us. Gotta be one of his jokes by, to, and for himself.

I enjoyed the Twinz. Surprised me!

And this is a bit snide, but could someone explain to me how it is that during Delirious someone suddenly thinks "the only way this show could be any better is if I had a big ass overfilled cardboard thingy of chips and the most disgusting smelling glue like orange substance and a cheese burger. Nough said.

My only disappointment of the night, if I can call it that, is I was really hoping to hear Let Down. Which has become one of my favorite songs.

I hope I have an opportunity to see him again. I have loved him since the first time I saw him at First Ave. in 1982, and I DID NOT WANT TO SEE HIM that first time. I was at the time much more interested in the proto punk movement with bands like the Replacements and Husker Du. It was only because of a friend who paid what ever the minimal entry fee was, and promised to get us tickets for an Iggy Pop show coming up that got me to go. The funny thing is we were in early and went right up to the stage, so that I just leaned against it. The moment prince came out and started into Sexuality, well, I have not been able to take my eyes off of him ever since.

Ahhnhhh but then again what i do know.....im just outside looking in.

A question, my partner thought that there was a change in the sound during Take Me With U. He said he felt like the bass end was louder and that he had a much harder time hearing the other instruments or even recognizing the tunes. He thought it got better at about the start of Cool after the Don't Stop part. I did notice this, did anyone else?

I thought the turing point of the show was when Shiela did her drum solo at the end of Glam Life and she looked up to the skye and closed her eyes and you could see her make out on the overhead video moitor that she said thank you. Seemed genuine and she got the largest roar of applause that night up until that point. Seemed like it inspired Prince as he ripped into Lets Go Crazy and the rest of the night he was on fire!!!! Other highlights included Little Red Corvette which was a super extended version in the same flavor of the Sign O'the Times movie but with bits and sounds to it, the Piano extended jam solos were cool especially the Screams of Passion part, Nothing Compares 2 U with Shelby came across more natural, heartfelt, and playful, and I thought it was cool and a nice surprise when he brought Bria onto the stage as she sat down and sang if I Was Your Girlfriend to her. I was glad to hear the Don't Stop till you Get Enough and Play that Funky Music cuts for the first time. A few spontanious bits with audience were cool as a fan from the vip section throught a white fedora on stage and he put it on for a little bit and then through it back to the fan. At one point he also came out with a camera and started taking a few pictures of the crowd as he was standing at the front of the stage. Nice long versions of I would Die for You, and he did a smokin version of When Doves Cry I thought as one of encores as well. Nice set list!! I was up on the balcony seats and everyone was shakin their thing all night long. Nice to see a show on a Saturday night as the crowd was superjazzed up to see Prince, heck even Larry Graham was getting some bootie shakin in the nose bleed seats. It looked like to me that Prince was itchin to come out and perform as Larry set didn't include his closer Everyday People...just ramblin on hope your all enjoying out there reading..lastly I thought the videos shown before the show were cool...they all seemed to be from the 80's with Family "Screams of Passion", Madhouse "13", Taja Seville "Love is Contagious", and a couple of videos by Vanity 6 and the Time...
