im ashamed even to be asking but its wrecking my

head all day whats "we live 2 get funky" , album ??

It's a brand new song - as evidenced by the fact that he namechecks all of his current bandmembers in it - including recent addition Andy Allo.

However, it does have the same lead guitar line melody as "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic".

Just got back from Hop Farm. WHAT A NIGHT!! This was around the 15th time ive seen him live and i have to say, despite the ordinary setlist, it was probably the best i have ever seen him perform. He seemed so happy to be up there and that came through in the music played. The sound was incredible, the crowd was incredible and all i can say is PLEASE dont make us wait another 4 years until we can see you again! Thank you Prince. It really was a beautiful night!

So come vibe with us.....Funk Bible...New Testament!

If you listened to what else he said you will see he was being Sarcastic.

Yes, but, Vict0r would have needed to actually BE THERE to have heard the rest of what he said.

Funny how the only people (albeit only 2) who have tried to introduce a negative aspect to the night weren't even there, eh? wink

Well lords ladies and gentlemen where do I start.....Oh yea, this concert was freaking incredible.

While on paper the setlist may look boring, however, this couldn't be further from the truth. Prince's energy gave songs like 'Kiss' and 'Controversy'a new leases of life, while 'Purple Rain' and 'Little Red Corvette' were possibly the best I've heard in a very long time.....if not ever. Furthermore, to add to the experience, whilst our tiny icon was banging out 'Purple Rain' everyone around me either had a tear in their eyes or on the cuff.

Prince was on top top form and so was his band...however, I didn't see much point for Andy...but she is very cute!

It was fantastic meeting people from the org, and hope to see you all again soon!!

BTW.....Here is a few pix of Prince, me and the symbol!

I loved P's little dance routine for the extended section of Kiss....

But when the drums kicked in after the initial gap from the album version did anyone else think, my god, he's gonna do When Doves Cry!

Maybe it was just me. It sounded very similar to the WDC intro from the 86 tour.

Whilst some of the photos on here are great (and I could see a few people with very expensive-looking SLRs in the audience), can I just say that nothing pisses me off more than trying to enjoy a gig - any gig - when some fuckwit in front of you has his/her mobile phone/camera above their head for the entire fucking show, taking pointless crap shot after pointless crap shot.

Sorry for the swearing but Christ-on-a-bike people, just enjoy the music and put the fucking iPhones away.

On the upside, the show was great.

Not impressed by the complete lack of O2 coverage (perhaps not their fault), the all-day push to sell lager by the mobile sellers inevitably leading to some pissed-up idiots. (Where were the water/soft drink sellers?) Oh, and still being in my parking space 2 hours after the gig ended.

I sound like a moany old git but it was a fantastic day despite appearences!

TT.

The morning after....

Tired, aching, sunburned, but happy!

Great festival set last night. The main section on the show was billiantly delivered with passion.

for me...

Negatives

Hop Farms management. Terrible compared to other UK festivals.

Getting out of the car park at the end.

Larry Graham in the Prince set. nuff said.

The usual pusher inners.

Curfews biggrin

Positives

Best version of Purple Rain I've heard in the last 15 years.

Little Red Corvette

Cool

Great version of U got the look

The Paisley Park videos

Weather

Good natured crowd

The new band (although Andys guitar was rather silent)

Prince's Mood and passion

Totally agree with you there...didnt get home till 2.30am and was supposed to be at work at 9am, managed to make it just before 10am, and got lucky as a delivery we were expecting arrived at that time, if I had missed it, would have put me out of tune by about 400 quid...opps

BTW Squirrel, I met up with a guy wearing a shirt which some fan group in London made, it has Liberty written on the back with a symbol, black t-shirt. Has a band in London, he is not on the org, as he does not use computers, his name is Kevin but goes under the alias of Alexander, maybe you know him. I was looking out for your flag, but as I have just seen you didnt get it out.

You picked a very good spot, I was very tempted to move to that area, but with all the talking and so in, it sorta slipped my mind.

I have to admit that I enjoyed Larry Graham, I thought he did well with the crowd considering alot of people would not have known who he is.

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

let's start with the worse thing about hop park. no bloody mobile internet signal. no 3g. how are people supposed to be civilised without mobile internet? and the phone signal was terrible in general so even relying on texting ppl to check the internets still existed meant i never got a text straight away so i spent most of the show worrying about the collapse of human civilisation because the internet had died

the setlist was pretty predictable, if you are a real prince fan you have to know you are going to get the hits at a big show, particularly a festival one, but he still threw in a few interesting things that he's not played in the uk before, at least not in the particular arrangement, and he started with a soundcheck jam of a brand new song, so that was a pretty good start. few artists would do something like that. i was hoping through the day that prince would have a better sound guy as the supports acts sound was just awful, WAY too much bass, so it was hard to enjoy the opening acts, but aloe blacc was a really great start to the day to get things moving. he also stuck around at the back of the state to watch most of the other acts. eliza doolittle also did that and watched prince from the press/security pitt at the front of the stage

highlights were cool/dont stop till you get enough, you live to get funky and if i was your girlfriend

the show was a real endurance test for real fans, waiting from 9ish to get a wristband and then from 11am camped in the baking heat in front of the stage. at least all the grass was dry and it wasnt the slightest bit muddy and it didnt rain so that was a bonus, but it was so damn hot, i'm glad i put on sunscreen. no signs of sunburn, but my feet were aching last night and my legs are still aching. if he did do an afterparty it would have been gruelling. and because of an accident we didnt get out the carpark till about 2am, 3 hours after prince left the stage

so hopefully prince doesn't play any more festivals or outside venues like that again. being miles from bathrooms means you cant eat or drink normally but you need water so you dont dehydrate, so balancing water and no peeing for 14 hours in the blazing heat directly under the sun (why did they have to do a festival where the sun was right above? bad planning that!)

it was the first gig i've been to where you can take photos and videos and not be noised up by security. in fact none of princes regular security guys were anywhere to be seen

oh shelby came out at the start and threw out tour t shirts into the crowd whilst a guy with a suit and orange shirt filmed it on his ipad, and andy allo (who is gorgeous!) threw more out during the show

larrys set wasnt that great i thought as he didnt had cynthia and jerry on the horns, i think they are going to play with sly again. also the sound was awful when larry was playing

tiny tempah was absolute shite though. prince could have played the worst crap in his life after that and he would have sounded amazing by comparison

We arrived at 11am, and I toyed with the idea of setting up camp in front of the stage, but thankfully, my seasoned festival GF talked sense into me. How did you put up with the heat, you must have baked out there.

As for Tinie Tempah, absoulute is a compliment, I knew he was going to be awful but I never realised he would be that bad.

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

First off, a big thanks to all of you putting such wonderful photos up, I was going to put some up, but the quality of yours is a million times better clapping

That was my 19th time seeing Prince last night and i really had big reservations about him playing at a festival and to such a large and varied audience, I had resigned myself years ago to believing U2 are the best stadium band in the world...I was also alittle nervy as my GF, who is not a Prince fan and a seasoned festival goer might think I have just convinced her to waste 150 quid for nothing...

F*** was I wrong!

Apart from the aftershows I have seen (I am deliberately not going to count them, as they are totally different), that was by far the best concert I have ever witnessed, which is saying something considering I have seen U2 (3 times), Bruce Springsteen and The Rolling Stones over the last 10 yrs.

I wish I has money to go to a few more of the European dates, but I am perfectly happy with the one I have just been to, makes up for all the times i missed out coz of cancellations (87), couldnt get a ticket (88), couldnt get time off (93), totally out of synch (2002)

If any of you have got a copy of the English Times or subscription, there is a great review of the festival in it.

I will photo it later and post it.

Finally, it might not be the tighest band he has ever had, but one thing is for sure:

Prince is Music

PS My GF is converted, she has already thrown up loads of pics on her FB profile claiming...

"simply amazing"

Thank you Prince and the Fans

It was a Beautiful Day and Night!

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Edit: Oh, and look out for my review in next week's Independent On Sunday. Bit of product placement, there.

I hope that it is a better review than the one posted in the Indo last week about Glastonbury, that was some of the worst journalism I have ever seen, "Janelle Monae had little substance...", I was shocked as 1 newspaper is one of my favs...

I will be keeping an eye out for it next Sunday, and I totally agree with "BEST GIG I'VE SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE"

Never been a big fan of Purple Rain but last night it blew me away it had me in tears, infact most of the performance did lol The setlist sounded fresh, Its one his best performance and it was like he was just playing around having fun with ths the astmosphere of it all aswell really enjoying himself. And on top of it he looks so beautiful too, so sexy. It was worth every single penny of the £80.

The bad side was the other acts, USE to think tiny tempa was alright but after watching Prince, nah nah he was utter shit(his band was better than him) and all the other acts up there they are not even worth naming were all crap and annoying. Starting to see where Prince is coming from with 'real music' things he keeps on saying, listening to him last night I most certainly relate to that.

Funny you say that, I was saying the exact same thing to my GF and the Prince fan we met yesterday lol

a nice guy who was at the front of the line let me use his sunscreen. i can't remember his name but his wife was called donna as he had her name tatood on his chest. he actually had a great all over tan as he was there all weekend camping

the heat was actually similar to that in minneapolis in the middle of summer. as it wasn't horribly humid it wasn't so bad. when it's humid it's much worse, you just feel all horrible and sticky

i've been very lucky with my trips to london as i rarely ever have to bring a jacket, nevermind wear one. the last time i remember wearing somethine more than a shirt was at TFI friday in 99 when i had to sleep in a car afterwards with daf, and it was fucking baltic in november. and the following day at the tube i literally spent the night on the streets, after meeting prince, paul macartney and robbie williams. talk about a knock down to planet earth

i've done some of the craziest things to see prince. this was one of the toughest ones. it's worth it though. when you think of all them michael jackson fans who never got to see him sing live, even the ones that went to his concerts, never had an aftershow, never saw a soundcheck or rehearsal in the flesh, never met him, never mind went to his studio, and now he's gone and they will never have that chance. well i took every chance i realistically could without going mental

Its a shame we didnt get to meet up, I would have loved to have heard some of those stories...and you are right about MJ, it is terrible that he was taken like that from the fans. I knew deep done that he would never have completed 50 shows at the o2, but I never foresaw what would happen.

I personally think that MJ passing away like that has affected Prince, he would not do tributes otherwise, but far play to Prince, he pays his respect and makes sure MJ will never be fogotten.

There is a great audio clip on youtube of P doing Billie Jean recently, that was one of my favorite songs outright before I got into Prince, only thing i didnt like about that was the crowd laughing, as if P was taken the piss...

And yes Unique, like my GF calls me, you are Loon but then again she also calls me unique... wink

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

"True to his status as the last enigma in music, Prince crashed into London this week in a ball of confusion" The Times 2014
