Prince on Lopez Tonight next week and performing 21 nights at The Forum!!!!

Prince called into “Lopez Tonight” during the taping of the show earlier today to announce he will be appearing on the show next week and will be performing 21 nights in Los Angeles at The Forum. This is the info we were told.

George Lopez tweeted this earlier: You must watch tonight, TBS @ Midnight – Royalty calls with big announcement!

So, 21 nights…in Los Angeles? At The Forum? Wowsa! Wonder how the shows will be spread around.

We hear the first show will be next week.

More info as it becomes available….-Dr.FB

just saw it, its confirmed. it'll be quite interesting indeed. can't make the trek from Detroit but i'll be curious to see how these shows go over. i think he knows he'll have to pull out some rarities and perform new stuff, the LA crowd is too sophisticated for just the hits or ARE they?

That's crazy. Has anyone ever played that many nights at the Forum???

I didn't even know the Forum was still a hot venue since the Staples Center went up.

Hope L.A. throws a big party and Prince comes to the Chi when it's over.

I'm also still disappointed that Prince decided not to do Fallon with the Roots when he was in NYC!

That would've been amazing! One of the best moments in the history of Late Night TV!

Maybe he can't do the Staples for 21 nights because it's booked. shrug

P.S : I know MJ rehearsed at the Forum for his concerts. It's like a giant spherical place of wonderment. biggrin

I know that Staples will be booked because of the Lakers in the Playoffs. I didn't know the Forum was still erect, let alone have the ability to book acts like Prince for 21 nights.

From wikipedia:

The Forum (known for a 15-year period as the Great Western Forum) is an indoor arena, in Inglewood, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. From 2000-2010 it was owned by the Faithful Central Bible Church, which occasionally used it for church services, while also leasing the building for sporting events, concerts and other events.

Along with Madison Square Garden, it was one of the most well-known indoor sports venues in the world, during this time. The Forum achieved its greatest fame as the home of the Los Angeles Lakers, of the NBA and of the Los Angeles Kings, of the NHL from 1967–1999, when the teams moved to Staples Center. The building was also the home of the Los Angeles Sparks, of the WNBA, from 1997, until they too moved to Staples Center in 2001.

The Forum was the site of the 1972 and 1983 NBA All-Star Games, the 1981 NHL All-Star Game, Basketball at the 1984 Summer Olympics and hosted the Big West Conference men's basketball tournament from 1983–1988 and also the 1989 Pacific-10 Conferencemen's basketball tournament.

In December 2010, Madison Square Garden, Inc. was reported to be finalizing a deal to purchase the Forum.

The arena can hold up to 17-18 000 people for concerts !

He could have picked something more central in the states or on the Eastern seaboard.

L.A. is expensive for Europeans to reach, and Asians don't know Prince from Boo.

So that leaves a strictly American audience, and Prince is a huge draw when he does

the actual traveling, but I would imagine not nearly the number of people would

be willing to actually fly out to see him.

I'm sure it will be critically acclaimed so good publicity will follow. But, I'm not sure

how lucrative it will be or how much many times he's sell out. O2 will be very

difficult to match or top.
