woot!" woot! dancing jig Party over here! Last night's show was amazing and full of energy. Prince said he loves NYC and assured us he would not be gone too long and will return soon, because he loves NY! woot!

I was so happy he opened the show with "LayDown" because that set off the energy for the entire night. MSG was pumping. Everywhere I looked in the arena, people was standing and dancing the whole night. The vibe from the audience members who attended was right on time, energetic and awesome.

Prince was shimmering in gold like the Prince that he is, and had the place on blast all night long. Late last year in October when he announced the concert series, and told people to bring foot spray, he should have told them to bring a foot massager as well, because after all that energy he brought to MSG last night, your feet had to hurt from the all-night dancing and the energy he projected.

It was cute and funny when the lady before Kim Kardashian came up, and he asked if she knew how to do the "bump" and then they both did the bump together;after that he said to her "Get off the stage, you're too sexy!". Hilarious.

I loved the slow-down version of "Little Red Corvette", and wish it could be released in the future on a cd, if he decides to put together a live cd version from some of these shows. He graced us with "Insatiable, Scandalous and Adore" and it was a major love fest. Prince and Misty Copeland also graced with us a choregraphed version of "The Beautiful Ones." Another highlight was Prince's dedication to BobbyZ when he and Shelby sang "Nothing Compares 2 U". Love the duet between those two and of course, as always, it was a pleasure to hear Shelby's voice in that song.

He also sang "Dreamer, Welcome2America, Poplife, some lyrics from Sign of the Times", and more. The short piano medley (as others mentioned here) were fun as he teased us with offering to play some of those songs.

I have to say I appreciated Cee Lo's performance last night and his voice is amazing. Love his style of music, and there was a slow side he sang that had a bluesy feel to it, that I loved. When Cee Lo sang "Forget You" my row got up and we sang and danced through the whole song. Prince and Ceelo did a great job performing "Crazy" together. Props to Elisa for the way she sang "Shake Your Body". She did a very good job, vocally and I thought it was cute and funny when Liv was chasing her on the stage, when Elisa playfully ran to the other side singing. I have to say all 3 of Prince's backup singers are fantastic and they harmonize beautifully, as always.

What a show, loved the whole concept of the W2A concert series, with Prince getting involved with his support for education and the arts, and donating a portion of the funds to 3 organizations who deserved it.

I also have to say it was fantastic and so appreciated, having Prince in New York City through these winter months, and so happy to know he enjoyed this city, performing here, and promising

I attended the 12/18, 12/29 and 2/7 shows at MSG and by far 2/7 was the most energetic, and I loved that the audience was on fire the entire night. The demand for the encore was deafening and people stomped and cheered until he came out, and he did not let us down. All I have to say is Thanks Prince and the NPG band for gracing NYC with your presence. Don't wait too long to return!

OMG! He came out and after I got over the shock of hearing Laydown I looked down and was like YES YES YES!!! We have HEELS! Then I don't know if anyone caught it but one of the camera men did a close up of P's feet on the guitar petals. I think I had an orgasm! Just the visual of the gold heels with the guitar petals was like !!!!!!!!!!! Loved it!

Prince Takes New York, Final Madison Square Garden Show a Glittery Musical Spectacle
Prince's critically acclaimed "Welcome 2 America Tour" played a sold-out audience at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 7. Grammy Award-winning alternative hip-hop/soul crooner Cee Lo Green served as the opening act, kicking off a punctual 7:30 p.m. start time, which played out well into midnight hour. Green, who already joined an impressive list of opening guests that included Janelle Monáe, Esperanza Spalding, Maceo Parker, Mint Condition, Sinbad, Lalah Hathaway, Cassandra Wilson, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and Larry Graham, belted out a litany of songs, including a censored version of his chart-topping pop anthem, 'F**k You.'

Meanwhile, his royal majesty, who turns 53 in June, dazzled that audience with a career-spanning set that never seemed to end.

The stage was shaped like Prince's trademark glyph, and it was there that he seemed to hold royal court -- whipping the audience into a fevered frenzy with classics such as 'Controversy,' '1999,' 'When Doves Cry,' 'Purple Rain,' 'Kiss' and 'Sign of the Times.' While the days of yore are long gone -- when he used to do countless splits throughout his concerts -- Prince proved to be an ultimate showman, even taking on ferocious power ballads such as 'The Beautiful Ones,' 'Nothing Compares 2 U' (with background singer Shelby J) and 'Adore.' He teased and titillated with shortened versions of rare faves like 'If I was Your Girlfriend,'Pop Life,' 'Raspberry Beret' and Sheila E's 'Love Bizarre.'

Thanks 2 all who kept us up 2 date on all the shows.

I was glad 2 c Prince kick that over exposed, dumb ass Kim off his stage. She did not deserve being up there in the first place. Her stiff ass was booted off of Dancing with the Stars also.

omg! That gold outfit Prince had on was absolutely gorgeous. Mr. Nelson is dancing like a youngster lol

4 those who haven’t seen it yet, Yahoo’s front page has the video with him and her on stage.

Lawd have mercy, when they showed Kim walking up the steps to the stage, Kim's entire ass took up the space on the jumbo screens.lol It was a funny moment when she just stood there in shock, while Prince waited for her to dance, then told her jokingly to "Get off the stage!". Hilarious. She made up for the dance moment when she came back on stage with her boyfriend and other celebrities to dance.

How u know it was her boyfriend she was with when she came back on stage? Could have been some stranger just trying to get next that Big A$$ unless they were holding hands or something? razz

Are there any other ORG'ers who are bummed out that the only way Prince concerts make any kind of news is because Kim Kardashian was pulled on stage????? Totally not the highlight of my night.

I think it's a shame when the most talented musical genius of our time is overshadowed by a reality TV personality.

neutral

It's RIDICULOUS! WHO THE HELL CARES!?? I did a search for Prince concert and that's the only news. Not how HYPE the show was or that he closed out the series of concerts with a bang, just this Kardashian business. So annoying.

I know Prince Jams! But haven't yaw heard the ole saying "sex appeal sales" moreover "sex sales". lol Anyway, no denying Baby Got Back! razz

Dude please, it's not difficult to find the trillion articles about Kim and her basketball player boyfriend on stage last night at MSG. He is supposedly 25 and Kim 30. He is the one on stage with her. Google is your friend. Geez.

I mentioned her (not by name) in my post. She was the one who did the "bump" with Prince before Kim was on stage, and after she danced with Prince, Prince also jokingly asked her to get off the stage too, because she " too sexy" as he put it. lol

From the NY Daily News:

Kim Kardashian kicked off Prince's Madison Square Garden concert stage after she 'froze'

By Soraya Roberts

Kim Kardashian got royally booted off stage at a Prince's Madison Square Garden concert.

The Purple One ushered the "Kourtney & Kim Take New York" star onstage Monday night -- despite joking that she "might be too sexy" – but was unimpressed when she started "shaking."

"I was so nervous I froze when Prince touched me!!!!" she tweeted after simply standing onstage, shaking her head and clapping as Prince cut a rug around her.

After a brief period of time, the "Raspberry Beret" singer appeared to have had enough of her antics.

"Get off the stage!" he scolded, grabbing the 30-year-old star's wrist and pointing her to the stairs, and she threw up her arms in rejection and left.

Her boyfriend, Kris Humphries, who was also at the show Monday night, didn't appear to mind her nerves. He gushed about his "gorgeous" girlfriend getting "shy on stage."

"Kimmy got nervous," the New Jersey Nets player tweeted. "So cute though."

Luckily, Kardashian, who earlier on in the evening had taken to Twitter to state she was going to "party like it's 1999," had a chance to make up for her lackluster stage presence.

"Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself!" she tweeted. "We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!"

On Tuesday morning, the E! star scolded critics, including Prince, for denigrating her stage presence.

"Come on people!" she tweeted. "Doesn't anyone have a sense of humor?! Prince must not have seen Dancing With The Stars! LOL"

Prince was playing MSG on the latest stop of his Welcome 2 America tour.

Some other things I thought worth mentioning about last night's show:

Cee-Lo's band consisted of all women which made for a nice visual.

I don't know who was in charge of the music between sets, but "Lovergirl" and "Give It To Me Baby" were played back to back. Very cool.

When Prince was looking for people to dance with him during "Controversy", apparently a guy wanted to come onstage and Prince said, "I'm sorry brother, I can't dance with you!" and made the funniest face, lol.

Too bad Cee Lo's band was playing to tracks, though. He seemed out of breath by the third or fourth song. lol

For some reason, I think Morris Hayes is in charge of the songs played between acts.

BTW, Fredderic Yonnet (sp?) was the harmonica player -- he was also at the Gansevoort show in 2008 and I believe some of the London O2 shows.

was he around at the o2 london shows? he's been working with prince for sometime now but i thought he came about after.

i know he was at arras & werchter last summer , also in paris grand palais the year b4 that

bria seemed fond of him as well from what i can remember lol

From what I've seen (and heard wink ) the MSG Feb. 7th show seemed like a great finale to the concert series. I'm glad that the audience (orgers!) had such a wonderful time. Really liked P's performance of "Cool" and of course Cee-lo's "Crazy." Out of all the concerts though, I have to say that I think the W2A Dec. 17th and 18th concerts were the most outstanding. But, over all, it was a terrific ride for every one who got to attend in person--no matter which concert date you went to! biggrin

AWESOME SHOW! Honestly, this one was very similar to the Jan. 18 one with some very good minor tweaks so that's why it was awesome because the 1/18 show was outstanding. He brought it with the last 2 shows and I was very happy to hear that $1.5 million dollars was donated to three very worthy charities. He looked great and was in very good spirits last night and he rocked the gold heels. The man is too sexy drooling

Okay,

Cee-Lo was great! I was really excited to see him be the opening act. They censored the 'Fuck You' song which I was expecting because I was surprised he did it at all to be honest.

Prince was a lot more prompt to come to the stage last night which was fantastic because I need to see this man for as long as possible.

When he opened the show with 'Laydown'...OMG! Sunflower and I almost jumped over the seats in front of us...of course none of those people knew what the song was because a large amount of people at these shows stopped following Prince after 'Purple Rain'. We were screaming '20ten...20ten'. OMG 'That Purple Bounce Bounce' part had us all over our row...those fair weather fans better go get educated next time. falloff

He did the basics...took a potty break on PR only to come back to RB...ewww. mad

Loved when he was like 'I want 2 talk 2 the ladies now'. lol Some guy behind us was like, 'U can't talk to my lady...I can't compete with u, Prince.' falloff At least he knew what time it was. lol

Loved his dedication of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' to Bobby Z. Beautifully done by him and Shelby J! clapping

His guitar playing with Cee-Lo on 'Crazy' was the hotness. nod

Loved him doing 'When Doves Cry'. Happy that he moved his 'We gotta lot of hits' medley to the middle because it was in the beginning of the last show. 'Nasty girl', 'Forever in my life', 'Sign O The Times', 'Alphabet Street', 'Love bizarre', 'Hot thing', and OMG he did my songs: 'Pop life' and 'eye Would Die 4 U'...faint I was doing the IWD4U hand motions like a crazed person. lol. That dude dancing his ass off on stage 2 'Single ladies' falloff. Prince should have booty bumped with this guy instead of trying to get Kim Kardashian and her cosmetically-enhanced ass (they are 2 separate entities btw) to do anything in her fugly dress. Good job kicking her off the stage, Prince. Can't believe she just stood there thinking that people wanted to see her take up space and time during OUR show...chick, go sit down on ur 'cushion'...at least her shoes were cute. Really loved when Prince said, 'Welcome 2 America, where U can be famous 4 absolutely nothing' and looked over in her direction... falloff THANK U! Prince, please no more stiff celebrities on the stage because they don't seem to want to dance like the REAL fans do and it drags on the fun and spirit of the show...just sayin wink.

OMG! He did the 'Love Medley' which is my name for the Insatiable/Scandalous/Adore part of the show. He really put his soul into this one. Last show was awesome but he put more 'oompfh' into this performance last night...I almost cried again on 'Adore'...that song always hits me right in the soul especially the lyric 'Love's 2 weak 2 define just what u mean 2 me'...my all time favorite Prince lyric. touched

Doing 'Mountains' at the end was a huge surprise and awesome! Loved him doing some MJ with 'Shake Ur Body'... bow

Prince was dancing his cute little booty off and having a great time. He loves NYC and we love him. If he wants to stay here, we won't stop him. wink

Got the text that the aftershow was going to be at Darby before the real show had even started. Then got the text right before the end of the show that the aftershow was $200 at the door...uh, yeah NO! Sorry, but $200 can go towards really, really important things like food, rent, and keeping my lights on. Can't believe someone had the audacity to put that price tag on the aftershow. Sorry, but for $200, I'd better get a whole nother concert, with some dinner included, and at least a handshake and a picture with Prince. giggle

Aftershow being out of the question, so we went back to the karaoke bar and had a ball for waaaay less than $200. Got home at 6:30 and woke up to no voice and having to call out of work. LMAO!! All in all a great time was had and can't wait for his Royal Badness to return to NYC for some more fun.

Hello fellow Prince fams,

I hope everyone had a great time because I sure as hell did! About the show, I have to say that Cee-LO was awesome. The man can really sing.

Now onto the man of the hour. Prince sang and danced his azz off and of course he was just incredible on the guitar. The energy from Prince and the crowd was great!!! Non-stop energy all night. It was truly a party. I loved EVERYTHING about the show but the highlights for me were "Little Red Corvette", "The Beautiful Ones", "Shake Your Body Down To The Ground", "If I Was Your Girlfriend", "Mountains", "Scandalous", "Nothing Compares 2 U" and much more. I was just a little ticked that he only played 10 seconds of "Nasty Girl" and "When Doves Cry"! UGH lol I wanted him to play them in full, but overall it was AMAZING.

When the show was over, I bought me a symbol necklace and that just topped off a great night. I'm still recovering lol.

I will see Prince anytime he's in town. He did say that he would come back to NYC again soon enough and I hope he does!!!

Can't wait to see P again

Wonderful personal synopsis of the last concert! I was privileged to see Prince perform "Laydown" also. And when he did the "love medley" as you put it during his encores on Dec. 17th, I just about passed out because the performance was simply outstanding! I'm afraid I embarrassed my grown son with my cheering and dancing but then maybe not because he was just as mesmerized as I was! lol Such wonderful memories...I wish I could've seen 'em all! Too bad I couldn't go to this one and hang out with you orgers afterward--sounds like you had a wonderful time at the karaoke bar! Definitely won't be my last NYC trip. Now, if only Prince would come to California, like my local radio station keeps saying he promised to! I'll keep my fingers crossed. Bring the party to Cali, Prince! biggrin

These are some pictures I took. I was really close but cell phones take shitty pics...so I only took a few when the lighting was right. Hope you like em!

Thanks for posting Doffie! Nice pic! A Prince all laced in gold..perfect!biggrin This look like when he was playing "LayDown" if I'm not mistaken, because he was getting into the funk when he played it.

Doffie, I'm sure if you were there you would have presented us with some great pictures like you did at the last show.

hi! what did your friends make of the show, will they ever be the same? lol

My one friend had never seen him before. At one point she looked at me and screamed, "OH MY GOD! NOW I SEE WHY YOU DO THIS ALL THE TIME!" excited

It was great!

I talked to her today, and she thanked me again and told me how much fun she had.

Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

My review simple: HEAVENLY! If he comes back I will be there. If he goes to southern Cal I will be there!! I went to 3 shows - 12/17 (IZOD), 12/29 and 2/7 (MSG)....they all were awesome. I'm too tired to blog more (got home 1:45 a.m...got up to go to work at 6 a.m.....just getting home on 2/8 8:45 pm)....I'll add more in the days to come

You can always tell who the true fans are! The ones that were freaking out (right along with me) when we heard Mountains! That was truly magical!

I have just one question ..I think it was during the extended version of little red corvette..the guitar went off but he had already handed to one of the handlers and then he began mimicking the sound of the lick..Was I bugging or did anyone else remember it?

On to more important news..I was so shocked he did MOUNTAINS and SHAKE YOUR BODY. That was well worth it...Ironically I watched under the cherry moon again on my Ipod Sunday night. It was a nice close out with higher and everyday people..felt like I went to church.

I need him to Hurry up this way again! lol!
