I agree that some idiots need to leave the weed smoking out of the arena, and grow the heck up.

So do you think no one should have been drinking alcohol? People have been smoking weed at concerts since the 60's. To each their own. A Prince show is a party ya know!

I don't have to agree with what other adults do, but I am entitled to my opinion of it. Like you said to each their own, so you pretty much answered your own question. Take care.

It was just great. Chris Rock was cool during love bizarre. Sang then tossed the mic back to him. Misty was graceful and great. Questlove did his thing. The suprise feature of the night to me was the guy on the harmonica. great addition. Wow he could blow. The encores were great. Purple rain was out of the way real quick. Track 77 aka lay it down was great to start off. He played dreamer which I absolutely love. I am so glad he said they'll be back soon hopefully not to soon. Give my wallet a rest. I've been to too many shows but its worth it but expensive. Prince, thanks for being a real musician.

lol MSNBC just showed a clip of Kim getting booted off of stage last night at MSG, and the hand gestures Prince used when he booted her off and was laughing at the same time, when he did it, was hilarious. .falloff

I've never under stood why you would wanna be wasted or high during a concert??
I knew people who went to some of the shows in 93 and they were so drunk the next day

they could barely remember the show at all? Whats the point in going to the concert?
Its SOOOO sad when people have to have drugs/ booze to have fun.

I mean hell.. its nice to have a few drinks now and then, get a bit buzzed.. but NOT at a concert you

pay $100 or more too see and won't even remember.. WOW.

The sound system at MSG was terrible!!! I should have went to his show in NJ. None of my pictures came out right when he was wearing the gold outfit. I'm pissed because I had good seats.

The sound at Izod was appallingly bad. I actually thought the MSG sound was awesome...maybe it was just in comparison?

It may have seemed that way, but he sang the exact same lyrics at the 12/18 show...so I don't know that he was necessarily referring to Kim. But then again....I can see how it would be appropriate!

Nice to see you 2elijah. I had to keep looking at you when songs like Dreamer, Mountains and Lay Down came on because we were the only ones in our section that knew the songs/words! I about flipped when I heard the opening chords to Mountains.

Okay I saw the video again, he said "welcome to america". I wonder was that a secret diss then to Kim K.? Its not like he knew that Kim was coming up there, because Shelby got her.

[Edited 2/8/11 11:30am]

eye think Prince is well aware of the entertainers on his guest list in attendance b 4 he hits the stage. That is why they are all brought on stage 2 dance @ a certain moment. Especially @ MSG. Its all 4 promotion of his Welcome 2 America tour. He knew Kim wouldn't deliver that is why he brought her on stage & made the W2A remark.....It worked perfectly with his new song...Prince knows how 2 work the publicity 4 this tour. He knew it would b a hot topic on every news station and blog... He knows Kim is a publicity "ho"und. Famous 4 no reason & would b talked about the next day...

i'm gonna keep this short and simple cause its already been said in some others posts ..good show energy wise but the setlist needs a major uhaul. perhaps it was the jaw dropping anctics of the 1/18 show that cried 2 be met again but fell short. tho this show was better than the december shows, 1/18 IS THE BEST SHOW OF THEM ALL.

highlights: laydown, MOUNTAINS, dreamer

letdowns- okay prince u have a band is there really a need 2 do looped snipets? seriously! ..kim kardashian ..nice ass but get yo ass off the stage!!

MAJOR LETDOWN- NOT DOING THE LOVE WE MAKE!! DAMMIT I WANNA HEAR THIS SONG LIVE IN PERSON SHIT!!

food 4 thought- in talking with anhonestman after the show we both realize that these shows are 4 the casual people cause when prince did laydown, dreamer and mountains, once again people around us were dumbfucked as 2 what these songs are. but what's refreshing is seeing other fans that are in the know all rock out!!

msg is a busy arena year round with other acts coming 2 the garden soon, and not 2 mention the sporting events that happen there so it would be great if prince came back to the nyc at another venue perhaps even more intimate 4 the diehards and those in the know that he has more of a vast catalouge then 3 albums in the 80's.

yes Love4OAThe original, 1/18 was the shit!!! last nights show did not have the same "wow" factor overall in the set as 1/18, but i think it was a good way for him to end the shows.(now if he would just drop 1999 and LGC and replace with something else). i dont know if i agree that the shows are for the casual fan, but we all know in the arenas there are certain songs he is always gonna play and that prob. will not change. it was refreshing to see people dancing to Laydown instead of being dumbfounded, but that was prob. because he had just come on stage. with 20ten not even being released in the US, and with it being a "hidden" track at that, i doubt there were many people that actually knew it. Mountains i thought also works very nice in the later part of the encores-similar feel to me like "Gold". also, i thought the crowd was on point-great for a monday night- it felt like a saturday night in there!!! best crowd of the tour to date. -Paul

HOLY MUTHERFUCKING SHIT!

That dude did MOUNTAINS! I heard the opening of the song and damn near DIED! Y'all don't even KNOW. Mountains is my ISH and I've been hoping and praying he would do it at this show since it was gonna be the last one. I wish I knew that dude so I could thank him personally for making my millennium!

I barely remember the rest of the setlist, but I do know I was fully expecting him to pull out the wrap it up box at 10pm and that dude KEPT going! It was so awesome! I am so glad I didn't hem and haw about buying a ticket for this show because I'm so glad I went.

I shoulda hung around with my fellow orgers to see if we could get into Darby, but I knew I didn't have $200 for that AND wasn't all that chuffed about standing in the cold and rain. Hope someone gets in and tells us all about it.

In the meantime that concert was more than enough for me, I had a blast. My only gripe is the whole "bring celebrities on stage" thing. I've never liked it, I think it kinda kills the vibe of the show. No one cares about these people! No one cares about Kim Kardashian. At least I don't. No one cares that Chris Rock was there. So what? And Steven Hill AGAIN and Questlove AGAIN. It feels so EXclusive instead of INclusive, like some elite club you're not a member of and you're just kinda sitting around watching them all have an onstage meeting abt how good it is to have lives like theirs where they get to do things like go up on stage and dance with Prince like every weekend. Ain't nobody pay to see those two on stage, we paid to see Prince and his band so really he's the only one I wanna see up there.

I'm happy. I'm GOOD. I've got video. I'd post them on youtube but they'd just get taken down anyway.

[Edited 2/7/11 22:16pm]

I'm kinda with you about the celebs on stage. It was also annoying when the people on stage were taking pictures of themselves. So much for living in the moment.

From the NY Daily News:

Kim Kardashian kicked off Prince's Madison Square Garden concert stage after she 'froze'

By Soraya Roberts
Daily News Staff Writer

Kim Kardashian got royally booted off stage at a Prince's Madison Square Garden concert.

The Purple One ushered the "Kourtney & Kim Take New York" star onstage Monday night -- despite joking that she "might be too sexy" – but was unimpressed when she started "shaking."

"I was so nervous I froze when Prince touched me!!!!" she tweeted after simply standing onstage, shaking her head and clapping as Prince cut a rug around her.

After a brief period of time, the "Raspberry Beret" singer appeared to have had enough of her antics.

"Get off the stage!" he scolded, grabbing the 30-year-old star's wrist and pointing her to the stairs, and she threw up her arms in rejection and left.

Her boyfriend, Kris Humphries, who was also at the show Monday night, didn't appear to mind her nerves. He gushed about his "gorgeous" girlfriend getting "shy on stage."

"Kimmy got nervous," the New Jersey Nets player tweeted. "So cute though."

Luckily, Kardashian, who earlier on in the evening had taken to Twitter to state she was going to "party like it's 1999," had a chance to make up for her lackluster stage presence.

"Went up on stage AGAIN! This time I redeemed myself!" she tweeted. "We all danced while Prince played the piano! Wow! What a night!"

On Tuesday morning, the E! star scolded critics, including Prince, for denigrating her stage presence.

"Come on people!" she tweeted. "Doesn't anyone have a sense of humor?! Prince must not have seen Dancing With The Stars! LOL"

Prince was playing MSG on the latest stop of his Welcome 2 America tour.

Some other things I thought worth mentioning about last night's show:

Cee-Lo's band consisted of all women which made for a nice visual.

I don't know who was in charge of the music between sets, but "Lovergirl" and "Give It To Me Baby" were played back to back. Very cool.

When Prince was looking for people to dance with him during "Controversy", apparently a guy wanted to come onstage and Prince said, "I'm sorry brother, I can't dance with you!" and made the funniest face, lol.

Are there any other ORG'ers who are bummed out that the only way Prince concerts make any kind of news is because Kim Kardashian was pulled on stage????? Totally not the highlight of my night.

I think it's a shame when the most talented musical genius of our time is overshadowed by a reality TV personality.

Too bad Cee Lo's band was playing to tracks, though. He seemed out of breath by the third or fourth song. lol

For some reason, I think Morris Hayes is in charge of the songs played between acts.

BTW, Fredderic Yonnet (sp?) was the harmonica player -- he was also at the Gansevoort show in 2008 and I believe some of the London O2 shows.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

lol I had a wonderful time last light! Prince was energetic, funny at times, Funky, soulful and I'm just happy I heard "Laydown" and "Dreamer" live! Another highlight for me was "Mountains" and "I would Die 4 U". The shout out to Bobby Z was cool, especially when Prince acknowledged that along with Bobby Z many people have helped him during his career. Overall, I was totally satisfied and I'm just happy Prince is still healthy and alive. We've lost soooo many legends, so to have the opportunity to witness his artistry live is a blessing!

woot!" woot! dancing jig Party over here! Last night's show was amazing and full of energy. Prince said he loves NYC and assured us he would not be gone too long and will return soon, because he loves NY! woot!

I was so happy he opened the show with "LayDown" because that set off the energy for the entire night. MSG was pumping. Everywhere I looked in the arena, people was standing and dancing the whole night. The vibe from the audience members who attended was right on time, energetic and awesome.

Prince was shimmering in gold like the Prince that he is, and had the place on blast all night long. Late last year in October when he announced the concert series, and told people to bring foot spray, he should have told them to bring a foot massager as well, because after all that energy he brought to MSG last night, your feet had to hurt from the all-night dancing and the energy he projected.

It was cute and funny when the lady before Kim Kardashian came up, and he asked if she knew how to do the "bump" and then they both did the bump together;after that he said to her "Get off the stage, you're too sexy!". Hilarious.

I loved the slow-down version of "Little Red Corvette", and wish it could be released in the future on a cd, if he decides to put together a live cd version from some of these shows. He graced us with "Insatiable, Scandalous and Adore" and it was a major love fest. Prince and Misty Copeland also graced with us a choregraphed version of "The Beautiful Ones." Another highlight was Prince's dedication to BobbyZ when he and Shelby sang "Nothing Compares 2 U". Love the duet between those two and of course, as always, it was a pleasure to hear Shelby's voice in that song.

He also sang "Dreamer, Welcome2America, Poplife, some lyrics from Sign of the Times", and more. The short piano medley (as others mentioned here) were fun as he teased us with offering to play some of those songs.

I have to say I appreciated Cee Lo's performance last night and his voice is amazing. Love his style of music, and there was a slow side he sang that had a bluesy feel to it, that I loved. When Cee Lo sang "Forget You" my row got up and we sang and danced through the whole song. Prince and Ceelo did a great job performing "Crazy" together. Props to Elisa for the way she sang "Shake Your Body". She did a very good job, vocally and I thought it was cute and funny when Liv was chasing her on the stage, when Elisa playfully ran to the other side singing. I have to say all 3 of Prince's backup singers are fantastic and they harmonize beautifully, as always.

What a show, loved the whole concept of the W2A concert series, with Prince getting involved with his support for education and the arts, and donating a portion of the funds to 3 organizations who deserved it.

I also have to say it was fantastic and so appreciated, having Prince in New York City through these winter months, and so happy to know he enjoyed this city, performing here, and promising

I attended the 12/18, 12/29 and 2/7 shows at MSG and by far 2/7 was the most energetic, and I loved that the audience was on fire the entire night. The demand for the encore was deafening and people stomped and cheered until he came out, and he did not let us down. All I have to say is Thanks Prince and the NPG band for gracing NYC with your presence. Don't wait too long to return!

This is what I mean about "microwave" news, they report before getting all the facts.lol Prince was not angry at all, he was joking around and laughing at the same time when he did that to Kim. Maybe Wendy's just angry because Prince never made an appearance on her tacky radio or tv show lol and I don't blame him for that. What he did to Kim was all in fun, and he was having fun with it. He told the lady that got on stage (before Kim was on stage)to do the bump with Prince, which she did, to get off the stage too, and told her she was too sexy, and he was laughing when he said that too, but of course the press didn't show that lady, because she wasn't anyone famous, but because this was Kim, the press was all over it and of course tend to twist things, to draw in an audience/viewers/readers. K

Kim knew Prince wasn't angry, but was probably a bit embarassed, because he said that to her, being who she is, so I doubt she would even think he was actually angry when he did that. Honestly, these folks who report these things in the media, need to get the facts from folks who were there and witnessed it first hand.

tres sexy, like a prince in shining armour heart

Thanks for posting Doffie! Nice pic! A Prince all laced in gold..perfect!biggrin This look like when he was playing "LayDown" if I'm not mistaken, because he was getting into the funk when he played it.

Are there any other ORG'ers who are bummed out that the only way Prince concerts make any kind of news is because Kim Kardashian was pulled on stage????? Totally not the highlight of my night.

I think it's a shame when the most talented musical genius of our time is overshadowed by a reality TV personality.

neutral

It's RIDICULOUS! WHO THE HELL CARES!?? I did a search for Prince concert and that's the only news. Not how HYPE the show was or that he closed out the series of concerts with a bang, just this Kardashian business. So annoying.

Prince esta muerto...

One part that was hilarious and I thought was cute, was when Prince was singing near the last encore, and when you looked up on the jumbo screen, someone in the audience held up their laptop, waving it back and forth, with this pic of Prince glowing on their laptop, and you saw the image moving back and forth on all the jumbo screens:
