Yes, the snow is coming down and sticking. With both JFK and LaGuardia airportd being in Queens, NY, there's bound to be flight delays and cancelled flights. Tomorrow there may be some delays due to the snow today, but hopefully the airport workers are able to clear the snow out when it stops tonight, so the planes could land/takeoff. I live 10 minutes away from LGA and usually hear/see flights heading in for landing, and so far there hasn't been any flying over since around 11:30am. About a 1/2 hour later after this pic, the snow is coming down much harder and so far about 1000 flights have been cancelled.

According to the reports, the snow is to continue through tomorrow and end. NYC is expected to have about 10 - 15 inches of snow once the snow stopped. Wednesday is expected to be sunny, so that should help some of the snow melt out. On Wednesday it will be about 30 degrees, in Manhattan, most of the snow will be cleared off the sidewalks because usually that borough is cleaned out first, and the pedestrian traffic helps as well. So all should be okay the day of the show, other than having to deal with trekking through some snowy sidewalks.

I'm concerned about my flight too — I'm supposed to fly in from Eastern Canada on Tuesday the 28th, so I think I may be OK if the storm ends on Monday, but you never know.

Snowfall is suppose to end here tomorrow night, so Tuesday, should not be too bad, once they clear the runways at the airports and the skies are clear enough, then Tuesday should not be too bad. I would be at the airport early though, because of people changing their flight arrangements and add-ons on other flights. Weather reports stating sun will be out on Tuesday, and sunny on Wednesday and Thursday.

I think you should be okay...but I would call your carrier to make sure, my friend (who also is flying in on Tues.) feels as if she should be fine, its the people that have the cancelled flights that have the problem. They are going to have to be rescheduled, not the people who have flights that will not be. biggrin

eek Man, I feel for all of you travelling to New York right now. I'm glad I went to the Izod shows. The Midwest snowstorm that hit on Dec 11-12 cancelled thousands of flights, but fortunately for us it cleared and we were able to travel on the 13th. NYC and New Jersey were cold as hell but minus snow. I hope it clears up in time for orgers flights so you don't miss the shows! wink

That pic was taken around 3pm this afternoon, and a 1/2 hour later, it started coming down heavy and hasn't stopped. So we have murh more snow in Queens, NY, where JFK/LGA airports are, and of course no flights are taking place. There was thunder heard in midtown Manhattan around 6:30pm when the news reporters were out in front of Macy's on 34th street reporting the weather conditions. Funny thing is, they said every floor of Macy's was packed, so the snow didn't stop anyone from coming out.I gather it was mostly tourists shopping.

Right now the snow is blinding and the wind is blowing in every direction. I hate to think about the travel to work into Manhattan in the morning, because some of the roads aren't plowed yet over here in Queens yet..bawl lol The snow is suppose to stop by tomorrow night, and sunny skies Wed and Thurs. with temperatures rising into the mid 30s. We shall see.

^^^ I can empathize with you. 2elijah! I used to live in the midwest and can remember walking to school in snow up to my knees and then later, as an adult having to drive on ice or worse, being snowed in and unable to go anywhere! (Everyone had chains, rock salt, and shovels in their trunks LOL). Hope you can make it into work!

That's how it used to be in NYC back in my public school days, but then the winters in NYC changed completely over the years and we didn't get as much snow. Now last year we got hit with one freezing winter and it started getting chilly as early as August. I don't care for snow at all and walking in it back and forth to work, especially when some merchants don't shovel their snow, and then another coating of snow covers the ice that freezes under it. Oh well, nothing I can't deal with, this is NYC after all. lol

They told me that the last one from the airport leaves at 5:30 p.m. and I had to drop 50$ on a car service to get to my hotel in NJ! (including a $12.00 toll charge WTF!) Made me mad! Fortunately, it was only $15.00 to go back and catch my flight home on the same shuttle!

Yes, NYC is amazing! Although it was so cold when I went (23 degrees with an artic-feeling wind chill factor BRRRR! LOL), it was worth it! It was my and my son's first time in the Big Apple, and boy were we impressed! Although I wanted to do the hop on, hop off buses to go to different parts of Manhattan, it was just too cold to stand and wait on a bus. So, we booked the Grayline Manhattan Comprehensive tour and had a whirlwind intro to uptown, downtown, and midtown points of interest with lunch in Little Italy, a cruise of New York Harbor, and the Rockefeller Center. We fell in love with NYC and have to come back! On the subject of weather, it is very odd the past couple of years with heavier winter weather... On the West Coast we have been having non-stop rain which is very unusual for this time of year... Wonder if it is an El Nino/La Nina year coming up... hmmm

Tuesday and Wednesday are supposed to be Sunny. Monday is having snow showers. Right now it's a crazy...sounds like a blizzard outside my window and I live on Long Island only 45 minutes from NYC. You should be able to get a flight on Tuesday but a flight is better than no flight at all. nod

Glad you had a great time. I only live 20 minutes (by car) from Manhattan. Yes we're having a blizzard here, and I just heard some snow plows, and hopefully they'll be out there in the morning pushing that snow out of the street so my express bus can get me to Manhattan in the morning. Luckily public schools are on winter vacation, so there shouldn't be much traffic on the roads. The snow is suppose to end sometime late tomorrow in the NYC area (5 boroughs), and Tues - Thursday is supposed to be sunny, and threat of some rainshowers on Friday, but temps suppose to rise to about 38-40 sometime midweek. For the 29th show, the weather should be fine in Manhattan, because usually the snow is plowed there quicker than the other boroughs, as well as pedestrian and driver(s) traffic, helping to clear away the snow in the streets/sidewalk. You should come back and visit during the Spring and Summer months with your son, and take him to some of the attractions in Times Square area, and visit Central Park as well. He won't be bored, that's for sure. Glad you enjoyed yourself while you were here.biggrin

Just my opinion, but I would suggest you do the Coach bus from Newark airport..it leaves every 15 minutes...get out at the Port Authority stop (right near your friends..you could even walk to their apt) or hop in a cab, drop off your stuff.. then cab it to MSG. It is $15 one way for the bus and then you would have pay for cab fare ...see the problem with these "share ride" vans is that they have to drop off other people as well as yourself. It could take you forever to get 47th and 9th ave. Did this company give you an actual arrival time? here is the Coach bus link: http://www.coachusa.com/olympia/
