MSG Floor seats--What's the view like?

So I'm gonna go see Prince on the 29th and have a couple of VIP W2A tickets, in section D (near the tip of the arrow)—these seats are behind the VIP tables. For those of you who attended the show of the 18th and had floor seats, how was the view? I read a couple of times about how the view from the tables sucked, but what about the floor seats that are located behind the tables?

i like the view from my 2nd row off the floor. my front stage 7 rows back in the middle of the row was alright but i see what ppl are saying about being a few rows up to see better. but then again last night the two seats next to me were empty and the 17th i had two crazy dancing europeans keep bumping into me all up in my space

I had floor seats and couldn't see half the time. First section in the risers would be much better...

A couple comments -

Note the open area between floor C and D. The ushers let people BACK UP and stand in those areas. The problem is the stage is about 6 to 7 feet tall/up. So if you are sitting there is in effect a wall in front of you. If you stand in the rear area (some were dancing) you can then see more of the stage.

For those in 21, 22, etc... the news is this: Those sections are NOT exactly on the floor. This is actually good news. They are obviously on the "floor"/hockey rink area, but they are on risers. So the last row of sect 22 is quite a bit higher than the first row of 22. I was in row 3 of sect 22... and was still blocked by the height of the stage. I could see almost everything I wanted, but my date (who is 5 2") had a much tougher time. I estimate that the best seat would be 21 or 22... about 10 rows back. (row J or so).

It was great when Prince came to the tip of the arrow... 'cause I was pretty much/almost in the front row with a good view. But when he was in the center of the arrow I could see him from the knees up at best.

I was near the tip of the arrow, and I got to stand up, because there was a wall in front of me.

the best floor seat I think will be near by the purple piano.

Section 21 was a great view. Not to close and not too far. Here are some pictures from where I was. Sorry the quality isn't very good. They were taken with my cell phone with doesn't have zoom or a good picture quality. sad

The overall view in VIP Table (12/15 & 12/18) leaves a lot to be desired. Wish they put table sections on a 2-3' riser with some type of rail guards so you're not 6' below stage level. That unfortunately would kill the view for the $500 VIP seats but likely make the table seats that more valuable. That being said, I would not trade being that close to the action for anything. The view is likely better from anywhere but being right down there in the mix for me is unbeatable.

Did anyone sit in 22 or 21 Row A ? What's the view like there? Briant mentioned that the floor sections are actually on risers...does this apply to 22 row A as well?

the best seats for viewing are in the middle of the stage you can see from all directions at eye level

Thanks for the info. I'm out in CA and this will help me decide what seats to choose if/when Prince comes out this way. From the pics of the floor that people have posted it looks like the table seats are hit and miss as far as the view goes. Same with the other floor seats. That stage doesn't appear to be 6' tall. More like 4', but there are places where lighting rigs and other crap make it 6' tall like at the tip of the arrow. The lower rows in sec 21 and 22 suck for that reason.

It looks to me like the view from the table seats is hit and miss Same with the rest of the floor sets. Would you say that the tables/floor sections near the piano are the best?

The way they arranged the floor (VIP) seats for these shows looks pretty ill conceived. The stage is about 3' too tall and in certain places the stage equiptment blocks the view completely unless you're standing up. Those sections should either be moved, put on risers, or sold as limited view seats (which is what they are). Hopefully if/when this show comes to other cities they will arrange the VIP sections properly.

I can be great or a freaking waste of money and a nightmare, thats one reason i hate MSG and larger shows. MSG in particular because unlike theatres like the Beacon, Radio City, if you arent in front basically your in for a long night of moving and shifting to see anyting, pray you dont get someone tall in front of you. Your best bet is to get first level up from the floor, if its an option, unless you got the first few row seats. I got close basically for the Musicology shows and the whatever u call it tour in 1998 that played at the garden, that show i was literally 1st row side, never had better seats at a garden show than that, but that shit cost me big time. Fortunately i learned this lesson at a Billy Joel and not a Prince show, because the Joel show was less costly, but i got floor seats and thought "damn the floor for Joel" till the show started and every motherfucker in the place stood on their chairs despite security saying get down, i mean how do 2-3 guards control thousands of people, so it was basically the worst time i had at a show doing a balancing act on my seat for 2 hours, finally i gave up and just sat and listened.

I am 5'7' and that stage is a good 6' tall all around, I sat in both VIP/Table sections 3&4 and have same seats for 12/29&1/18. Indeed equipment blocks some view as well. I chose to stand-up and dance most of the night in 3 (MSG show) but sat more in 4 (IZOD), funny as the view in 4 was obstructed by a speaker mounted with a spotlight on top, music choice was more mellow for IZOD Weds night as well. This seat was by Renato, the 3 was by back-up singers/piano. I liked the view and table placement far better in 3, it was more relaxed and spacious. The great thing about VIP is U can really move around and personally I just love the close-up action with the band & P (although he seems a bit less "flirty" with the front row at least in my 2 experiences thus far.

Limited view yes, limited opportunity? NO, chance to get on stage and be that close to the vibe is priceless (well not exactly priceless LOL).

Oh man thanks for the replies, it doesn't exactly appease my anxiety & concern about missing out sad
I guess there's not much I can do at this point as I bought VIP tickets, I'll be pretty pissed about spending $1500 (tickets, flight, hotel, etc...) if I end up not seeing the stage. How can they make the priciest tickets the ones with the worst view!?

After Prince sings purple rain, prince will perform kiss. And at the end of kiss, he usually go to the arrow, and u can see very close how he dances. Maybe this is the only one good thing for that seat.

Thanks for the info. Regardless of the view I'll probably still get a table if I get a chance to see this tour. At least now I know which side of the stage to go for. I like being close and I like being able to move around without being in people's way. I'm about 5'10" so I guess the high stage won't be an issue when I'm standing up. I'm a little more concerned about my 5'2" lady friends though.

I am looking to get some great seats for the show on 1/18. What is the view from the first couple of rows of the loge - sections 49,50,51,83,84,85? Is the stage too high to get a great view if you are in the first couple of rows in these sections? Me and my partner are both about 5' 8". Just want to be sure we have a clear view!

Whist the stage is a pretty cool, it is vastly impractical from a viewing point of view. I won't lament it's passing to the great warehouse at Paisley Park.

Has anybody sit in Section B on the Floor. Do u remember sequence range of seat numbers (left to right vs right to left) other words, is the highest seat number closest to section A. What's the view like?

I was pretty far up, and our view was still good. The thing about pictures is that they don't accuately represent what you see, things actuall appear closer in real life than in the pics. I tried explaining that to people I showed my pics to. I think they got it.

I'm just saying...

Depends how tall you are, I guess. You can't see too much of the circle where the band is and the piano is on the other side of the stage, but if he plays the tip, the center or closer to the center of the stage, great view. On 1/18, he seemed to spend a lot of time in the center or just off center and I felt pretty close up.

I was happier in section B than section C. Then again, I was happy being there!

Which row were you in when you were in Section 21? I've got seats in row D for Monday, want to figure out what that'd be like if you have any indication, thanks!
