Prince not playing Holland is a discrase.

Hi there...

I thinks it is a discrase that Prince doesn't play in Holland. Over all the years, Prince-fans in Holland were always loyal to him, visiting his concerts time and time again.

And now, he does not play in Holland.

I can't help it, i am a prince fan for 21 years now, visited over 30 concerts in Holland, Germany, Belgium and England, but i'm starting to think Prince only goes for easy money. Last year he played Monaco and Paris for exhorbitant prices, this year he earns about 2 million Euro for Roskilde, plays in Werchter for probably the same amount and does some big festival in Portugal.

And what i read about the concerts last week, is that he wasn't inspired, he played kind of lame. It's too bad that an artist like Prince does this.

Kind regards

Stoffie (best show was the aftershow in London 2 years ago.... i totaly freaked out that 2,5 hour in the O2 arena....hope i ever see my Prince like that again)

I understand your frustration because it's true that Prince always had a strong following in Holland.

Even if he played in Holland,Dutch fans also came 2 the concert in Belgium.

(allthough some Belgian fans didn't always appreciated that because Dutch

fans came in busses very early 2 get in front row;-)

But U're right, I'm really surprised he doesn't play in your country,

maybe he knew a lot would come 2 Werchter...4 an American Belgium is as big as one of their cities;-)

I suppose there were no festivals here. Sensation, Dance Valley & others support dance music . I wouldn't want to go and see him at Park/Pink Pop either. There was only the NS Jazz. Hopefully, he'll do that one next year. Or better still arrange smaller, intimate ONA kind of shows in exclusive clubs.

Sure it would be great to see him perform in my home country again - but if he doesn't come here for whatever reason, I go to whereever he plays.

I've been a fan for 30 years, have seen him play in different countries. With Prince you never know what to expect, if anything at all. Therefore I never have any expections - if, where and what he plays - just let it come over me. I never felt let down and always fully enjoyed the music, dancing and singing.

Get over it, there are plenty other countries would like him to play. Countries where he has played a lot less than Holland.

Oh stop being so selfish and move on, we could complain that he isn't playing in the UK this time round however I am more than happy to have memories of 2007.

Well, he's still in Europe. Who knows. Although I kinda hoped for a "surprise" visit @ Stevie with a party somewhere @ nighttown or something.

Don't forget that, from an American's point of view, The Netherlands and Belgium are just two blocks apart. It's about 200 miles from Groningen to Werchter - that's almost average commuting distance for them Yanks wink

There's no Dutch venue that wants to pay him the K he wants, because if they would they had to sell tickets at outrageous prices like 85E. And they don't want to risk him not showing up like he did last year. If he really would love his fans, he could have arranged a gig, that is accessible for everybody and not just for the rich fans.

He just ain't interested.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

That's a 4 hour drive, not even an American would do 8 hours of commuting on a daily basis

Come on Stoffie, a disgrace? What are you talking about. We as Dutchies should be so lucky to be in the center of all these places he picks. You say yourself you've seen him over 30 times, how many people can say that.

I'm a Dutch Prince fan for 26 years and we've had plenty of chances in the neighbourhood. He has visited the Netherlands so many times, now he picks a few cities here and there. With a train or a car you're there in a short time. Nice is 1,5 hours by plane, he will probably do England, I think he's giving a lot of people the opportunity to go.

I've been to Werchter and he's not uninspired, he's getting a bit older, it all looks a lot more quiet than let's say 15 years ago but it was a great concert, just a bit too short. I was so surprised to see that the whole field was clapping with him, 40.000+ people partying along with him, that isn't bad for a 52 year old from who people don't even know he made cd's the past 10 years. Today's acts are around 25 years old. Be honest, we've had our time 20 years ago when he was in his prime, when he was a working horse to the max, we enjoyed it and now we occassionaly enjoy his shows whenever he feels like performing and that's the way it should be.

Your spelling is a disgrace. Why not verify first before submitting?

Whether P plays in <insert country> is only a disgrace in your mind. There's so many places where he hasn't been. You project a slightly possessive aura...

I don't fully agree with you that it's all about the money. In Portugal the ticket for a day costs 40 euros and you get to see a lot of other bands.

This amount doesn't apply to (bt example) Werchter where you paid at least 80 euros...

So it is not always about the money.
