Will you risk paying over the odds for a Prince gig? With the new albums, website, press interviews/interest, it seems inevitible that Prince is gearing up for a tour/residency, so, with the recent problems with Prince gigs - Dublin cancelled, O2 VIP rip off's and O2 aftershows that he turned up for some and not others, how much are you willing to risk on Prince? its not just concert tickets, its travel, hotels etc, people are feeling the pinch now, so they will be reluctant to spend fortunes on a tour.

yes i would risk it, i bought a ticket to Dublin sure it was canceled but i still went over and had a good time, i got a refund for my ticket and the hotel etc didnt cost that much, so it wasnt like i lost a fortune i doubt it cost me anymore than a couple of nights out in London and i got to see Dublin. As for aftershows i would buy a ticket even if he isnt confirmed to play i went to 14 aftershows at the 02 and he only didnt play at 4 or 5 of them and even when he didnt i had a good time listening to the NPG, i even look back at the Dr John night and smile at the memories With Love there is no Death

I tend to goto a show I've paid for expecting to see what I paid for, when I booked the aftershow tickets I couldn't believe Prince would play all them, but then again, I didn't believe they would sell aftershow tickets without him playing, so I bought them on a chance and I accepted that risk, so it was my fault, but I've learnt and wouldn't do that again, I'm just curious what peoples approach will be now after recent concerts and in the current financial climate.

The concert will be good, but there's no guarantee your seat/view will be good judging by the VIP tickets at the O2 for £250 a seat, and who knows if he'll turn up up for the aftershow, but if spending £30 per ticket, then queuing for 2 hours in the cold and being told there is no gig or entertainment, just a dodgy DJ at 01:00 in the midddle of canary wharf and only expensive taxis to get back to the centre of London, you'll love it !!! abit like 'Prince plays gig for celeb friends' has become part of jargon, I remember on the 86 Parade tour birthday bash when he said "I'd rather party here with y'all" to a packed stadium of fans .... I doubt he thinks that anymore .... [Edited 2/15/09 13:16pm]

I'd go. But I'd be more carefull and pick a venue close to my hometown (Rotterdam). I can easily tavel to Paris or Berlin by train. Do fries go with that shake?

Well let's hope it's Berlin then.....

I can get easyjet to Berlin from Liverpool, so that would be good, its strange with the possibility of a residency, you'd normally say a european tour would include the major cities ... London, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Berlin, Rotterdam, Brussels etc, similar for a US tour, but the residency changes all that, so you never know where you'll end up !
