Even with pretty good seat like these, the view looks poor...Worst still, Prince doesn't always fork out on big screens.

Even the back of the gold circle looks far way if the stage doesn't have walkways.

Although the perspective of these pictures can sometimes distort the "real" view I must admit it looks like Prince was right when he sang about gold not always glittering. I have only ever seen Prince in arenas or small clubs so I am still looking forward to it but it's lower tier for me and a quick escape for the aftershow(which I am praying for.)

This picture is using a standard lense, unlike the earlier fisheye pictures.

The picture is from the lower tier, looks like block 306, possible 307. We've been far to spoilt in the past! On paper, I would have been happy with this block, but seeing it here, I'm not.

If this is really the seating/standing arrangement, I don't know if it's worth going. The last time I 'saw' Prince in a stadium was at Act II and I was properly crushed! Beyond that I did see him at Den Haag, but that was with NPGMC priority, so nice and close, and sectioned off from the heaving masses.

We were truly spoiled at the o2, so I guess those memories are going to have to hold, unless the other European gigs are at smaller venues.

PS : The prices are a bit of a killer too - won't stop me checking in at 8 on Wednesday to see if there's some last minute changes..... smile

Totally see your point. I guess it's just if you had asked me two weeks ago if I would pay 100 or so Euro to see Prince in Ireland in mid June this year and told me I had to sit in the position of the photographer I would still (just about) say yes. My aim over the next few weeks will admitedly be to get closer though!

Was thinking should I shouldn't I but just booked my flights with Ryan Air - cheaper than the train to London was, and now booked my hotel so yes, here I go - just waiting for the tickets to go on sale - DoMeBaby69 altered me - not been on Prince.org for a couple of weeks - wont be like the 02 but will be a great time and will meet up with other fans and Dublin is a great place to be.

i have been a prince fan for many years, and i only saw him live for the first time in the o2.
monday night not best night for a gig.

croke park is a bit big, might take awhile to sell out. but i will be there cause i won't get many more opportunities to see him do these kind of gigs. hopefully i will get my gold circle standing tickets on wed morn.

o2 was fantastic and will be hard to beat, but i don't care once i get to see him again.
i'm playing catch up on a lot of you guys. sad sad

For those of you in some doubt as to whether it's worth going to such a huge venue, ask yourself this :

Would you prefer to listen to music or to get a close-up view of Prince ?

Yeah, I know both would be nice, but unless you're going for gold circle standing you're not going to get a decent view of him (and even then it's doubtful), the place is too big. However, I have yet to be to a concert there without a big screen, and I doubt this one will be any different.

The important thing though is that it is a good venue, so whether you're the type of person who wants to sit down and enjoy the music (in which case you'll be in the stands and looking at the big screen), or the type to leap about (in which case you'll be on the pitch... leaping about) you'll have a great time.

As has been said before the Davin stand (The Stand Formerly Known As The Canal End) is the furthest from the stage. If you're going for seating though, I don't think it'll make that much difference. The only bits I would really try to avoid are the top rows of the upper stand - if people below you are standing up (which is something I can never quite fathom - pay for a seat and then stand in front of it?) then you'll want to stand up too, in order to see anything. But if you're at the top of the upper stand the bottom edge of the roof will be lower than your line of vision, so you won't see anything up there. They normally try to find alternative seats for people who've ended up with those ones, but if it's a sell-out that may not be possible.

So, anyone with any doubts - put your fears to rest, just go for it, buy some tickets. The buzz in Croke park is brilliant, and I'm sure this will be a memorable concert.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

No thanx. Save my money and wait. He will never sell out Croke park. Why the hell is he doing this???? George Michael did a fantastic arena tour two years ago and played e few terrible Stadium shows afterwards, if I remember well most of it had to be cancelled because of bad sales. We`re not living in the 80`s anymore!

Even at the o2 the sound was very variable depending on where you were in the venue. Stadium's generally don't fair much better. Seeing Prince is always going to be good, but if you are both unable to hear the sound well and have to watch him on a screen, you may as well wait for the video.

Yes there will be a massive buzz just going to the venue, but it costs a lot to get there if you don't live in Ireland and to get in. I can't justify if unless I get some amazing seats....

PS : I can't believe that some people think Prince can't fill a stadium, that's just madness!

Ahh, thanks Leanne, he really wants to see Prince, but if he can't actually SEE anything, I'm not sure what his reaction will be confused I can imagine him saying "where's Prince?" I could kick myself for not taking him to the O2 now - it would have been so much better for him there sad I really can't decide what to do now neutral

Look after that bump! biggrin
