Was the final main show that great?

Yes I enjoyed it and it was a privelege as always to see Prince. but it was not in my top five P main shows.

Sound in 103 poor, it was better in 105.

2 keyboard medleys don't work, 1 yes piano.

Synth set should have reduced number of tracks but as full band high tempo medleys like he used to do.

To stop start not enough flow. in particular encore gaps far too long and impacted on the pace and momentum of the show.

the final show was fantastic, we were in bk 107, which was the highest I had been, so I was fascinated by the stage lighting etc, but I cant put one show over another, each one had its own charactor, at least of the 9 i saw, and just by reading the setlists of the others I can tell that all 21 were probably different, not to mention the aftershows eek
If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I saw 7 main shows (7/8, 10/8, 28/8, 31/8, 1/9, 20/9 & 21/9) and yes the last one was great:
-the atmosphere
-the glowsticks
-the length of the show (the longest since the first one I think)
-the "unique moments", like Somewhere Here On Earth will full instrumentation
-a good piano set with a great rendition of The Beautiful Ones (with full "screaming at the end bit"), I Would Die 4 U, Under The Cherry Moon
-a good synth/sampler set, including DMSR, Delirious, a snippet of Get Off (Housestyle), TMBGITW, and an actual verse of Irresistible Bitch(!!!)
-the last encore, which felt like a "real encore" not necessarily planned

Overall it felt like a "Best Of" of the entire residency (same for the aftershow in fact).

BUT I have to admit I would probably say that the previous night's show was a better one for me (even though the synth set encore didn't happen, strangely). The 20th was the best balanced I thought. No excessively short snippets of songs on the piano or synth, and some great performances of particular tracks:
-The best A Love Bizarre I've heard in a long time
-Come Together really worked that night I thought
-Fooling around, teasing, pretending to faint on the curl in the middle of Controversy
-Blistering guitar during Question of U/The One
-4 lines of Shadows and Chains at the start of the piano set, blew my mind!
-When Will We Be Paid, what can I say, totally brilliant!
-Money Don't Matter Tonight, too short but great to hear this song
-Whole Lotta Love: and aftershow classic, great version, probably better than played at the final aftershow

So altogether the penultimate show felt the most satisfying to me.

That show was incredible!!! And I was up on the balcony at block 405 row N. Even that far from the stage sound was still alright, the view complete, but the most stunning thing was the people. Everyone was up on their feet from start to finish (I'm sure we too had some knee damage through Housequake smile

I went to the show the evening before and had almost the same seats - and I can tell you - it was nothing compared to the final night, at all! Good still, but the energy was not nearly as high.

So yes - IT WAS THAT GREAT!!! biggrin

I can't remember much of it to be honest. I remember the couple in front of me pissing me off by running to the bar and filming the show constantly. I also remember trying to dance in the small space I had. I remember being so upset that I was in 116 whereas on the 1st I was in D2. I remember being absolutely gutted that I had no aftershow tickets for myself and my family. Basically I remember hearing and seeing a fanatastic Prince show that was so upsetting as preiviously I had been in such good seats. Selfish I know but hey that's how I felt. Loved the version of Kiss (is it just me or does anyone else prefer his hits played differently and live?) and was miffed there was no Lolita/Black Sweat. Also couldn't see the Twinz bums sad IT'S THEIR BEST BIT!!!

All in all it was a great show I think but I am now so very glad it's all over. No wasting of my life sitting in front of f***ing TM for a start and I can once again concentrate on those more fundamental parts of my life.

The dream has been seen and with it came the loss.

I really enjoyed the last show. Didn't dance much, just chilled out and watched because I wanted to soak it all up. We left after the synth set, knew he hadn't finished but felt it was more important to get a good spot in the aftershow queue.
RIP sad

Yes, the last night was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The two keyboard sets worked well for me. The setlist picked up most of the tracks I'd missed from five previous main shows. Around us in 101, the atmosphere was great and the sound was pretty fine too.

The last show was my 7th and we had great seats in blk 102.

The atmosphere was easily the best of the 7 I attended - and I have to say the glowstick effect was amazing.

The crowd was up for it right from the start and I think that pushed Prince who obviously responds to the level of feedback from the crowd.

it WAS that great, because from the beginning the atmosphere was amazing...it wasn't that it was the perfect set list, but just that walking into the arena in the dark (quite unexpected - usually we would walk in in the light) and then seeing all the purple glow sticks was magical - and the whole thing was just such good fun! (apart from the stupid glowstick-throwers)

plus, he did girls and boys, which i just love!

oh, and...my boyfriend proposed to me!!! (obviously gonna make it extra good!)

Probably the best gig I've ever seen in my life. Didn't think anything could top the previous 3 shows I saw on the run but 21/9 was a very special night indeed.

Such a special night , had enjoyed being on the floor on previous nights, but being in block 102 I could see when the box would come and go to the stage, the twinz on the box coming back to the stage and the best of all Prince walking through the crowd back for the final encore. It all added excitement to me for the last night.Definately the best !

I was there on 4th August and 18th August and the final night...

...and the last show out stripped them for sure. Like another Orger mentioned, there were so many unique moments that made the last show special. The glowsticks for one thing, seeing the whole arena glowing purple with them right before the show started sent a shudder down my spine and brought a lump to my throat.

The surprise encores that just kept coming were un-real!!! Hearing I Would Die 4U blew me away as did finally hearing Most Beautiful Girl In The World. From what I've read about the other shows the final night was the most complete overview of all of his most well-known, big tracks. I can't think of one big track that he didn't play! And the atmosphere in the arena that last night...there was just something in the air, something that just wasn't there on the other nights. Its hard to put it into words.

I was at both (and a few others) but there was just such a buzz on the last night. They were both fantastic but I was definitely on a bigger high on the 21st.

Oh, and A Love Bizzare a week before in full as encore with house lights on was even better than on the 20th - My favourite moment of the whole tour, possibly

Yeh it was electrifying!
I was in 411 & surprisingly, it was the best sound of anywhere I have been in the whole arena. I was facing directly on2 the point of the stage & the sound was remarkably tight. No boom, no reverb!
I loved every minute.

Yeh it was my favorite seat i'v been in so far. The full stage & the screen were in perfect line of sight.
The audience looked breathtaking 2 with all the glow sticks. I had 2 film a lil bit of it before the show started. Like 20,000 purple glow worms!

For me it was the end of an incredible couple of months. Never been quite so obsessed about anything. Quite a different atmosphere on the last night... It was like an end of school disco before you all go off to different schools and don't see each-other..... for a while at least!

I was in C3 and had quite a mix of people round me - for me it was terrific.

Never mind about setlist for the final night, the atmosphere was so electric it gave me shocks every now and then! Never again will I experience that,
nor Prince I should imagine. We all knew it was going to be one loooonnnnggg
night..... nuts

Went to 8 or 9 (sorri, lost count) and actually for me, 6th was the one for me
what with full Beautiful Ones and mind blowing The One..... cried twice that
night.
Now I cant stop crying.... cry I had to delete my 'ticketmaster' link on
favourites because I could not bear it any longer.
Does anyone think Prince feels as bereft? LOL
