Favourite concert memories

None of us will forget the summer of 2007 when Prince came and rocked our world here in London.

What are some of your favourite memories of the tour?

*the first minute of the first night I went (14th August) and being transported to another world, danced all night and realised I was indeed a Prince fan and this was serious fun,

*seeing the look on my nephews' faces when they got into the VIP box and getting all the hugs later - priceless

* getting my ticket for the last night from the "gorgeous" irish courier (sorry girls he's married) - the arena aglow with purple, the atmosphere everything
"C'mon y'all - let me hear you sing, c'mon y'all, shake, c'mon y'all, jump" - Yes Prince -
"London do you feel for me what I feel for you"- yes Prince -
"Can I play my guitar now?" - yes please

- when my cousin screamed out ''Prince i love you'' when the arena was practically silent lool
- seeing all the prince fans, how they dress, how they were as excited as me.
- seeing M.I.A, i thought she was brilliant

August 14th bout 9ish hearing the intro to 1999 and as the smoke cleared seeing Prince in the flesh for the 1st time in my life.

Was thoroughly bored of 1999 until that moment - can't get enough of it now smile
i ain't looking for a 1 night stand...

* Curtains opening to reveal Amy on the last aftershow - what a start to the 3 hour marathon to follow!

* 6th September aftershow - Mike Phillips on the autotune vocals was some of the funkiest shit I ever heard! Everone else had left the stage and Mike was just riffing on the "Funky London" thing - eventually Prince came out and picked up Josh's bass and started jamming with Mike who started his "check out Prince playing the bass" thing - then they look at each other and tip-toe off stage - it was one of the greatest improvised moments I will ever witness - Mike is one funky mutha - no wonder Prince has him in the band!

* The 31st August aftershow - no Prince, but the NPG never sounded as incredible on any of the other shows I was at. The horns did that syncopated riff over and over again while jigging around the stage like it was a New Orleans funeral march! I fell in love with Cora that night too - she's one "funky drummer" smile

* "Beautiful Ones" on the keys on the 6th September main show - the "I want you" part tore me to shreds! I've no idea how Prince can scream like that without losing his voice.

* "Stratus" at the 1st September aftershow - Prince's guitar breaks were transcendent - Renato nailed his solo too.

* too many other moments to mention - the wonderful memories of this tour will live with me until the day I die smile

the best concert memory for me has to be being stood less than a foot away from prince, when he walked past us on his way back to the stage on 21/9. god damn that man is gorgeous!!!!!

meeting gertygirl, who is one of the nicest people i have met, along with her son..... watching them groove together was lovely

being in d1 for my 1st concert, and watching prince pull all the facial expressions while he was ripping up the guitar.....just wish he was ripping up me lol lol

Don't know what happened to my other post but I was just co-signing the above. For some reason this show keeps slipping from my mind but when he opened with Around The World In A Day I was in Prince heaven as that's my favourite album. Beautiful Strange was a complete surprise too. Great show all round really.

My highlight has to be the 11th of August show...It started with him rising up on his elevator into a circular curtain which hung from the lighting rig and then fell to the floor around him as he started with Purple Rain...It was spectacular and the 2nd best show out of 8, the 21st being the best...Shaking hands with David Icke was cool too...x

* The "suprise" 10th August aftershow for my 30th birthday party cake

* Prince ordering the whole arena to bounce during "Controversy" on 10th August

* Prince playing "Controversy" for the second time in one night during 10th August aftershow

* Maceo and Prince jamming at the 21st aftershow

* The electric atmosphere at the 9th Sept aftershow, especially after "Girls & Boys" when the audience would not relent with the "oh wee ohs!"

* The sea of purple glowsticks during the final night show

* Prince letting the audience sing "I Feel for You" at the 9th Sept aftershow

* Prince's amazing dirty, funky guitar playing guitar

* Prince's obvious excitment doing the "Housequake" chant during "Controversy" at the 9th Sept aftershow

*Cora's drum solo at the 9th Sept Aftershow

*The NPG and Shelby and Marva - Amazing

*Beverly Knight's obvious heart and joy performing with Prince at the 10th August aftershow

* Maceo Parker heart

* The second I had realised that I had just managed to get 2x good seats for the final show, on Ticketmaster, completely by chance

* Prince singing "Adore" on the 9th September

* The NPG and Prince jamming All the Critics/Chelsea Rodgers/Sexy Dancer (Le Freak)/Alphabet St./I Wanna Take You Higher and ending in chaos with the Benny Hill theme music lol

* Realising that not matter how bad life gets, you never know what's around the corner rainbo

That was the low point of the entire run for me. Never did get that track. Glad you enjoyed it though. I did feel like I was alone in the Indigo in not feeling it. Wouldn't have minded if it was shorter but it went on and on and on. But I guess that's why you loved it. biggrin

when he did somewhere here on earth at the aftershow, goosebumps! hope we get to c a video for this.pretty please.
the question of u/the one on the last night aftershow. the beautiful ones(last mainshow)
seeing the naughty, playful side-which came out alot more at the aftershows...cockeyed/3 handed woman, too funny!!
when he came out from backstage at the aftershow(16th) by the dj decks and played guitar while a small crowd danced around him.
ALL of the npg!!they are the perfect blend with Prince.
and last but not least Amy Winehouse and Beverly Knight, we DO have some talent over here!

Me and a friend were discussing the Prince experience being like a unforgettable holiday romance..one that always stays in your mind and makes you smile.

The opening to the 11th Aug show, when he was revealed to Purple Rain. I couldnt stop shaking!

When he kept repeating "He only knew her for a little while..." on the final encore 21/09. One of my favourite songs, only my brain was so fried I couldnt place the lyrics. As soon as he said "Girls and Boys..." I freaked out!!! biggrin biggrin

When he said "Only knew her.." I turned to my mate and practically screamed "He's gonna do Girls and Boys!" Doing the Birds Do Fly wave finished that night and tour off perfect. God, I wish i could relive that moment.

My stick out moment would be my first ever Prince concert on the 18th August and just seeing the man turn up on stage and then do 3121. I knew I was then gonna be a Prince Fan for life!
I got more hits than Madonna's got kids!

where to begin???? originally the highlight was to hear all the old stuff, if I was your girlfriend, controversy, raspberry beret, the beautiful ones.... then it became the piano sets.. AMAZING watching the facial expressions and sheer sexiness,.....then was the front row experience a couple of times where we could actually see him looking at us! (and got recognised by the security)..... followed by the aftershow with Chelsea Rodgers, When u were mine!!!!!, the one u wanna see, Planet Earth etc..... only to be topped by the VIP experience to beat all where I got to shake hands with P and for him to say "very pleased to meet u".....(lots of screaming afterwards!!)..... and all finished off with last minute VIP for final nite show and aftershow, (after thinking no way was I going to either).... where celebs around me were being asked to move because they did not have the correct VIP band to be where I was!

My life is complete and quite frankly NOTHING can top this..... unless I get close to his highness again!

PS Black Sweat at the aftershow was just FANTASTIC
What a summer of Prince!!!!!

PPS Just realised I 4got STRANGE RELATIONSHIP on the keys.....
