4/21 3121 Las Vegas Show Review.

April 20th, Friday night, we roll out 2 Vegas late?didn?t arrive until
close 2 1:30pm. We hear there isn?t an aftershow and hung out 4 the night
with our friends who went 2 the Friday show. There review about the show
sounded great. Prince had come out with a piano medley at the
beginning?that sounded cool! Hearing their take on the Friday night show,
I wasn?t going 2 be surprised if the Saturday night show was going 2 be
mediocre or by the same setlist he has been going by.

We set up shop the next day, April 21st, Saturday. We get 2 the Rio
around 11:30am and there is already a few people in line. Our group was
against the wall close 2 the twins pic so we knew being in the line
closest 2 the wall, ur most likely going 2 be at the front of the stage.
We hung out until around 5pm and head out 2 get ready at our hotel, while
one of our friends waits in line 4 us until we get back. Around 7:30pm,
the Rio box office people set up and get the tickets set. As the line
starts 2 get longer and filled with people, around 8pm, we notice another
line forming adjacent 2 the VIP line. We didn?t know what that line was
4, but we noticed some people had received tickets. Once they started
letting people in, the line adjacent 2 the VIP line was let in first. We
still had no clue who they were or what the line was 4. By the time we
were let in, there was already a group of people set up in the front
closest 2 the stage. Where once our group was able 2 stand close 2 either
side of the speakers?there was already a group of people there. We
chilled until show time. We danced as a group 2 most of the songs the DJ
played. 2 our surprise a different DJ was spinning?Rashida wasn?t around.


Around 12:38, the lights dimmed and a group was standing on stage?not
Prince. The group was Mosaic?they had played a couple of aftershows at
the Jazz cuisine with Prince before and I guess they were our opening act!
Mosaic is an acapella group, which also use their vocals as the
instruments/DJ scratching as well. 2 the crowds amazement were pretty
darn good. They had talent and knew how 2 keep the crowd?s attention.

After their few songs?the lights dimmed once again and Prince took 2 the
stage. He came out dressed in white with an orange neck-high collar.
Dapper as always!!! Prince took 2 the microphone and with his purpleness,
took it nice and easy with ?Satisfied? as his opening song. Here?s the

Highlights:

As 3121 followed, the horns were on!! Usually during the beginning of
3121 there is just the band with no horns. This time the horn section had
their riffs. Very tight!

When Prince went in2 Shhh and went in2 his guitar solos?..ooooh it sounded
so beautiful! He was feeling the guitar that night and was making it
wail! So beautiful in fact, he wanted 2 jump in2 a song which sounded
like Peach, but he sang lyrics 2 a Jimi Hendrix tune. He rocked it!!

Shelby?s vocals on the above songs were awesome! It?s always a pleasure 2
hear her sing. Such a strong voice!

After Shelby?s vocal performance, Prince played a tune and had the
audience chant, ?Las Vegas??the lyrics seem 2 be about his experience
playing out in Vegas. He played maybe a verse and went in2 chorus. If
that?s a new song in the making?it might be quite interesting 2 hear the
rest of it later.

All in all, it was as I expected, a somewhat normal show. I wasn?t
disappointed, because there were many fans that have not seen him at all
or decided 2 come again after seeing him in earlier months. So, they
would have loved the show. The previous night (Friday), Prince may have
been feeling it?.feeling like a little change in the set list?.throwing
out that piano medley seemed incredible, hearing that from my friends. I
knew, I should not have any high expectations 4 the following night.
Saturday night came and went?my last show in Vegas. I ended up seeing
Prince around 40 times since November, counting of course those great
aftershows as well. I don?t regret seeing Prince as often as I did, I
loved every minute of it. Through the course of my 3121 adventures, I
have met new people and have run in2 familiar faces. 2 me, going 2 Prince
shows is all about the people I encounter and seeing their faces and
reactions 2 a man whose music I adore. Now, what about a tour?? Hmmmm???

lol...Prince plays another night of shite at 3121, big surprise there...no wonder the bootleggers don't even BOTHER to travel to Vegas to tape the gigs...they are THAT boring/crap.

That is one way to beat the bootleggers Prince, play boring ass songs in a boring ass sytle to the point whereby nobody would even consider trying to make a profit from taping one of your concerts.

I just got back from my L.A. trip Tuesday night and I was at both shows this past weekend, 4/20 and 4/21 and I have to say I had the times of my life!! Nothing like watching Prince up close in such an intimate setting as Club 3121!! I loved the performances both nights and I'm glad I went to both because the setlist was different. Talking about the 4/21 performance, I'm surprised no one has mentioned that there was an official photographer that night taking pictures the whole night of the performances and there was a recording booth set up towards the back of the dance floor. I'm thinking that they're probably doing a recording of the performance a release a 3121 Live CD!! That would be awesome!!!! I'll share more of my thoughts from last weekend more. I was just too exhausted from my trip but still on a Prince high!!

I think the recording booth you are referring to is the sound booth. During the 3/31 show, Prince stood on top of it, while the Twinz danced on pillars beside it. He called Sheila E. up from that position as she was sitting right there in one of the VIP booths. I did miss seeing any photographers, but it sure would be cool to have a live CD!

My husband said someone was taking pictures and I totally missed it. I did see the booth at the back of the dance floor but didn't know what it was for. I would totally get the Live CD especially if he adds bonus tracks...
