Sheila E. and C.O.E.D. at Bataclan

Hey...

Just back from Paris where the highlight of my weekend was last night's concert by C.O.E.D at The Bataclan. If you don't know C.O.E.D yet they are the fabulous Sheila E, Candy Dulfer, Rhonda Smith, Kat Dyson and Cassandra O'Neal.

They rocked the Bataclan well and truly and there were several Princely moments.... the girlz funked out with 'Life O The Party', 'A Love Bizarre' and closed the set with 'The Glamourous Life' and a fresh take on 'Kiss'....loved it!!

Sheila seemed overwhelmed and became very tearful at one point from the love of the crowd and probably from the exhaustion of playing those drums like a girl possessed!!

I hope they can make it to the UK next time!!

Good luck with the CD - the new material was fantastic, Sheila said it would be released in 4 months time so watch out for that.

I was there to.

A little correction though : Candy is not part of C.O.E.D. she's guest for the tour.

And it's a good thing she was there.
Sheila is still great, but that would be all.
Rondha is just invisible, the girl at the keyboard is boring.
Guitar is ok but that's all.

At some point i found the show boring.
IMO It lacked some good ol' funk...

I was there, too.

The girls were generous & full of joy, i liked the energy they gave us.

Now, it's very surprising how "classic" their music is. We all know that they are capable of real experimentation, & how good they r as musicians, but (as when going solo), their compositions & covers were all classic funk/soul/jazz with no real surprise.

But i guess COED is 4 party-time b4 anything & i had a good time anyway. It's always a pleasure 2 c musicians u respect & love as much as i do respect & love Sheila, Rhonda & Candy.

By the way, Candy seems 2 b the happiest woman in the world!!!
