heterosexuality questionaire

Here's a little something I found. It takes some of the questions that gay and bi people get asked from time to time and turns them on their asses so it's about heterosexuality instead. Any straight people here (especially those opposed to homosexuality for whatever reason) should take a look, and think about it. How would you respond if you were asked this in all seriousness?

Heterosexuality Questionaire
(No, I don't know who wrote this)

What do you think caused your heterosexuality?

When and how did you decide you were a heterosexual?

Is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase that you may grow out of?

Is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?

If you have never slept with a person of the same sex, is it possible that all you need is a good gay lover?

Do your parents know that you are straight? Do your friends and/or roommates know?

Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Can't you just be who you are and keep it quiet?

Why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex?

Why do heterosexuals fell so compelled to introduce others to their lifestyle?

A disproportionate majority of child molesters are heterosexual. Do you consider it safe to expose children to heterosexual teachers?

Just what do men and women do in bed together? How can they truly know how to please each other, being so anatomically different?

With all the societal support marriage receives, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are there so few stable relationships between heterosexuals?

Statistics show that lesbians have the lowest of sexually transmitted disease. Is it really safe for a woman to maintain a heterosexual lifestyle and run the risk of disease and pregnancy?

How can you expect to become a whole person if you limit yourself to compulsive, exclusive heterosexuality?

Considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual?

Could you trust a heterosexual therapist to be objective? Don't you feel that (s)he might be inclined to influence you in the direction of his/her own orientation?

There seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you change if you really want to. Have you ever considered aversion therapy?

Would you want your child to be heterosexual, knowing the problems (s)he would face?

We are stardust. We are golden.

Heterosexuality Questionaire
(No, I don't know who wrote this)

What do you think caused your heterosexuality?

It's a genetic thing that ensures the survival of the human race.

When and how did you decide you were a heterosexual?

I decided when I popped a boner when a hot girl walked by me. this hasn't yet happened for a man.

Is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase that you may grow out of?

Anything's possible...

Is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex?

Hahah.

If you have never slept with a person of the same sex, is it possible that all you need is a good gay lover?

Hahah.

Do your parents know that you are straight? Do your friends and/or roommates know?

Yes and yes.

Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Can't you just be who you are and keep it quiet?

I don't flaunt it. As of yet I don't take part in any heterosexual parades, nor do I feel the need to establish an identity that is distinctly heterosexual.

Why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex?

We're bastards,

Why do heterosexuals fell so compelled to introduce others to their lifestyle?

Bastards.

A disproportionate majority of child molesters are heterosexual. Do you consider it safe to expose children to heterosexual teachers?

I have never heard this about homosexuals, but I would say, yes it is safe to expose children to any properly screened teachers.

Just what do men and women do in bed together? How can they truly know how to please each other, being so anatomically different?

Luckily one has a hole, and the other has a stick. one goes in the other.

With all the societal support marriage receives, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are there so few stable relationships between heterosexuals?

Also have not heard this about homosexuals.

Statistics show that lesbians have the lowest of sexually transmitted disease. Is it really safe for a woman to maintain a heterosexual lifestyle and run the risk of disease and pregnancy?

Probably not. Let's all go gay.

How can you expect to become a whole person if you limit yourself to compulsive, exclusive heterosexuality?

Haha. I can't believe some of the questions that gay and lesbian people are asked.

Considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual?

It couldn't. God bless the homosexuals who help correct my hetero blunders.

Could you trust a heterosexual therapist to be objective? Don't you feel that (s)he might be inclined to influence you in the direction of his/her own orientation?

HAHA!!! People actually ask these questions?!?

There seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you change if you really want to. Have you ever considered aversion therapy?

I am not averse to aversion therapy.

Would you want your child to be heterosexual, knowing the problems (s)he would face?

World's fucked up. straight or gay will be the least of my kid's problems.

For the record, my answers were very much tongue in cheek. I definitely don't consider any of these questions valid, and like the perspective the questionnaire forces us to take.

That said, I'm going to tell you what I think is its flaw. Heterosexuality IS the norm. The reason so many people question homosexuality is because it is not what most people practiced, and, until VERY recently, virtually nobody openly practiced it. Naturally, and understandably, people need to question and probe into what they are not used to/do not understand. I mean, let's take it a step further. If you found a group of people that were all in to, ummm, let's see, trapezing, you could, and maybe would ask several of the same questions, when did you decide you were into trapezing? Wouldn't it be easier to not be a trapeze artist (it probably would, there can't be much money in trapezing, or recognition)? Trapeze artists die of catastrophic falls more often then normal people, etc. People might be inclined to ask these questions as well, because they once again would not be used to a microculture zooming into the front of the media spotlight. This is just an observation.

The other thing that goes on the side of heterosexuals is that heterosexuality is what kept the human race alive, and homosexuality could not do that. This is a big reason that many people have no problem asking these questions. Straight sex seems to have a natural purpose, where as gay sex does not. Many people have undying faith in the concept that all things are built to exist with a natural purpose, so they have trouble getting past this.

Quite true. I would also want to add that even though answering questions that seem so ignorant can be annoying and frustrating, at least people are asking. It means (usually) that they want to learn more about you instead of just harboring incorrect and prejudicial ideas against you. A true homophobe wouldn't even bother asking.

I know it's biased.

I also know a tonne of people have already seen it.

The point of me posting it was the same as (i assume, anyway) the intent of the questionaire: to get straight people thinking about what a pain in the ass it is to get asked questions like this.

It was probably also just written to get a bit of a chuckle.

Sure, it's nice that they're curious. But why not read up on it before you start asking questions like "How and when did you first decide to become a homosexual?"

Consider the other person's point of view before you impose your own biased ideas on them.

Big ol' co-sign. And, that doesn't even take into consideration the Judeo-Christian/biblical pronouncements against homosexuality that shaped a lot of Western opposition to that lifestyle. If something is viewed over time in a negative light because GOD has condemned it, expect people to hold negative views of it, too.

What I've always loved about this questionnaire is that (among other things) it does a great job of pointing out how ridiculous it is to believe that homosexuality is something someone just sits down and decides to 'be' one day. Yet, being straight is considered 'natural', and there's no debate about choice. This questionnaire also is helpful because it uses humor to make people think/reconsider what they've been taught, rather than anger or conflict.

Heterosexuality Questionaire
(No, I don't know who wrote this)

What do you think caused your heterosexuality? God.

When and how did you decide you were a heterosexual? When I was a teenager.

Is it possible that your heterosexuality is just a phase that you may grow out of? No. You cannot repress the natural urge to create life.

Is it possible that your heterosexuality stems from a neurotic fear of others of the same sex? No. In some ways, sexuality can be a competition between people, but that would be the only thing within the "fear" factor.

Have you have never slept with a person of the same sex, is it possible that all you need is a good gay lover? No, and no, although I'm sure some are quite good at it.

Do your parents know that you are straight? Do your friends and/or roommates know? Yes and sometimes yes.

Why do you insist on flaunting your heterosexuality? Can't you just be who you are and keep it quiet? I don't flaunt my sexuality. I do keep it quiet, for the most part.

Why do heterosexuals place so much emphasis on sex? There isn't an emphasis in my life, but the media exploits sexuality to make it appear to be more enticing.

Why do heterosexuals fell so compelled to introduce others to their lifestyle? I don't want anyone to do anything they don't want to.

A disproportionate majority of child molesters are heterosexual. Do you consider it safe to expose children to heterosexual teachers? I don't feel safe to expose my child to any teacher lately, except my mom (she's a teacher).

Just what do men and women do in bed together? How can they truly know how to please each other, being so anatomically different? It's all about sexual gratification and knowing where to do certain things.

With all the societal support marriage receives, the divorce rate is spiraling. Why are there so few stable relationships between heterosexuals? Because too many people get married without knowing the other person. Also, marriage is between two people and thier Creator (if they believe that way). The government has no business marrying anyone, whether you are straight or gay.

Statistics show that lesbians have the lowest of sexually transmitted disease. Is it really safe for a woman to maintain a heterosexual lifestyle and run the risk of disease and pregnancy? However, with risk that technology could one day be crippled by disease, war, or natural disaster, heterosexuality should continue to ensure the life and continuation of our human existence. But, that's cool that lesbians are keeping safe.

How can you expect to become a whole person if you limit yourself to compulsive, exclusive heterosexuality? You can become a whole person no matter what your sexual orientation is.

Considering the menace of overpopulation, how could the human race survive if everyone were heterosexual? By technological advancement, we can populate other planets.

Could you trust a heterosexual therapist to be objective? Don't you feel that (s)he might be inclined to influence you in the direction of his/her own orientation? Isn't this question redundant? If I'm straight, what would be the influence from a straight therapist?

There seem to be very few happy heterosexuals. Techniques have been developed that might enable you change if you really want to. Have you ever considered aversion therapy? There is no reason to change unless you are compelled to do so by your own choice, feeling, or personal belief.

Would you want your child to be heterosexual, knowing the problems (s)he would face? I want him to be whatever he feels that is right for him and right by God.

Peace,
JD

Sure, it's nice that they're curious. But why not read up on it before you start asking questions like "How and when did you first decide to become a homosexual?"

Consider the other person's point of view before you impose your own biased ideas on them.

Many other populations get stupid questions like this, too. If you're not a straight white male, then you're probbly going to be asked something similar to this questionaire.

Also, people don't "look it up" before they ask questions because they're usually not thinking much about homosexuality or what have you until they are confronted with it in the flesh. I really don't think that people living in areas of the country where there are no Asian people are really all that interested in learning more about asian people, just as people who don't associate with homosexuals aren't sitting around trying to educate themselves about it.

Sure it would be wonderful if people all over the world decided to educate themselves about ways of life that they are ignorant of but, for the most part, they don't have the time or the inclination. Does it suck? Yes, but I would rather someone ask me an ignorant question and be educated by my answer than just assume that i am the embodiment of every stereotype that they have been fed about "my kind".

I don't think that people who ask these questions and ones that are similar to them are imposing their ideas on you. I think that they are trying to learn and you shouldn't feel so put upon by having to answer them. I mean, wouldn't you rather have someone ask you "when did you decide to be gay?" and be able to tell them that it was not a choice or would you rather someone say, "You decided to be gay, you freak, now change back!" and not have them even want to listen to what you have to say?
