Because "religious" Satanism stresses reliance and ultimate faith in one's natural self, the adherence to a single text or set of doctrine is markedly less employed. There are, however, certain works that many Satanists often refer to as decent guidelines in understanding the church's philosophies. Some include the works of Nietchse (himself NOT a Satanist), other famous athiest thinkers, the occult writings of Alister Crowley and his Order of the Golden Dawn and especially works by Anton LaVey, the founder of the U.S. Church of Satan and the author of, among other things, "The Satanic Bible," the Church's 11 Satanic Rules, 9 Satanic Statements and 9 Satanic Sins. ________________
