Facebook banned Louis Farrakhan, Milo Yiannopoulos, and Alex Jones...

It is being reported that facebook has banned several people they view as having too much freedom.

Other that maybe Milo I do not like these people but to me if you do not like what someone is saying they should just scroll on by or not follow them.

And YES I know facebook has the right to ban who it wants...

Priorities.

We do not have to worry about Facebook, Russians or Iran or North Korea or any manufactured boogie man of the moment. We as a nation have proven to be our own worst enemy. Partisan hacks and sugary snacks are the only weapons anyone needs to take us down.

Freedom of speech is safe, try stopping It. Try taking away our internet. Try taking away our soda, pizza, churos and ice cream.

To keep America safe, the MOST important thing we have to do is guard our diabetes medications supply.

Facebook and Fox News, HP, CNN, Youtube and all the others pandering social media are fine. That president Turd is still in office says so. Our stupidity/intellectual infrastructure is safe and sound. As safe and sound as it has ever had been.

Let me fix that..
"No collusion was found so now we will have a fit and ban some people that back or have backed President Trump in the past. We will take money to do so the process is simple, pay us. We will give no reason as to why we banned these Trump supporters. Other that post hateful nonsense directed at Mr Trump or conservatives are welcome to post whatever and CNN will continue to use sources close to the investigation as a way to spread dangerous lies and misinformation. Our friends in the media will attack Alex Jones and Louis Farrakhan day and night without any repercussions. Thank you idiots."

you seem to not get the point. the point is despite it being their right to do so... facebook (and you trube and twitter) are ALL targeting some points of view that are not necessarily hateful. Oh they banned Louie too! See they are not biased.

But anyway: it should be concerning that this is happening. I see more actual hate (like people wishing death on members of a Conservative civil rights groups) from the left than then right.

Personally, I believe there should be penalties for anyone wishing a death threat on anyone, even if they claim it is a joke. I think social media needs to get even tougher.

Ive seen older media finally start start embracing YouTube snd other social media. There had been a Grand Canyon sized void filled by smaller voices. Which is a fantastic thing. But i think it skewed extremist. I think things will level out now that more professional voices start to come in and the algorithms recommending videos will swich from modtly wildcard voices, but a more balanced voice.

People have moved onto getting news away from mainstream media. So this is a move to silence competition. Alex is one of the top independents. They will take him out then slowly work way against the smaller guys like Tim Pool and Styxhexenhammer. I believe many more bans are coming soon. I think even I may just go away for a few years. Maybe move to another country, grow a beard and get a jobpicking grapes, sweeping floors. Like grey was speak on but different motives. Just regroup. Then remerge.

That's true... the only reason people consider him a "leftist " is because he's Black and talks about racism in America. Otherwise, there's not much difference between him at Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell

I guess Rachel Maddow should be banned too, then? She has a "long history of stoking online lies and hate". No?

Trump was told he could not block people from his twitter feed because he is using it in an official capacity as POTUS. As a public official, his twitter feed counts as a public forum, and therefore he cannot block dissenting comments.

The individuals that were banned, signed a contract with the companies (terms of service) when they signed on, which spelled out what that company allows and does not allow as a condition to use their product.

FB:

12. Hate Speech
Policy Rationale
We do not allow hate speech on Facebook because it creates an environment of intimidation and exclusion and in some cases may promote real-world violence.

We define hate speech as a direct attack on people based on what we call protected characteristics — race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, and serious disease or disability. We also provide some protections for immigration status. We define attack as violent or dehumanizing speech, statements of inferiority, or calls for exclusion or segregation. We separate attacks into three tiers of severity, as described below.

Sometimes people share content containing someone else’s hate speech for the purpose of raising awareness or educating others. In some cases, words or terms that might otherwise violate our standards are used self-referentially or in an empowering way. People sometimes express contempt in the context of a romantic break-up. Other times, they use gender-exclusive language to control membership in a health or positive support group, such as a breastfeeding group for women only. In all of these cases, we allow the content but expect people to clearly indicate their intent, which helps us better understand why they shared it. Where the intention is unclear, we may remove the content.

We allow humor and social commentary related to these topics. In addition, we believe that people are more responsible when they share this kind of commentary using their authentic identity.

They agreed to this term of service.

Here are just a few quotes by the above individuals:

16) "White people deserve to die, and they know, so they think it’s us coming to do it." -- Louis Farrakhan in 2015.
19) "Osama Bin Laden didn’t destroy the Twin Towers. That was a false-flag operation to take the world’s attention away from the great disunity in America after George W. Bush stole the election." -- Louis Farrakhan in 2016.

Milo Yiannopoulos: Well, he told the Boulder audience that all liberals are ugly, fat people should be deported, feminism is a cancer, and being a Muslim is a "lifestyle choice." Himself a gay man, Yiannopoulos also said at one point "never trust lesbians."

1. "If white privilege is a thing, why are people working so hard to be black? All of the award shows and cultural events favor black culture."

5. "With a little effort, we can help fat people help themselves. But first, we have to make sure that "fat acceptance," perhaps the most alarming and irresponsible idea to come out of leftist victimhood and grievance politics, is given the heart attack it deserves."

Alex Jones:

The reason there's so many gay people now is because it's a chemical warfare operation, and I have the government documents where they said they're going to encourage homosexuality with chemicals so that people don't have children. Alex Jones

Sandy Hook is a synthetic, completely fake, with actors - in my view, manufactured. Alex Jones

The Muslims are, as a group, attacking people because under the Quran, there is the house of Islam, and outside of it, there's the house of war. Alex Jones

In these instances, if they spouted this drivel on FB or Twitter, they have violated the contract with those platforms, they have violated the terms of service, and therefore are subject to said contract that states that a violation of their terms of service can result in banning.

Sorry for the above bolded print, was copying and pasting and it used the format of where I got it from.

No matter what you guys say, right wingers are indeed all living in their own little fart bubbles. It all smells the same and they all think it’s “normal” or pretend it is as they try to spread it for all to smell and “normalize” it Joseph Goebbels-style.
So never say you guys don’t live off each other’s talking points because unless you live in these bubbles you would certainly smell the foulest odors emanating from god-only-knows-where.

Hit the link for the complete story on Business Insider

A day after ranting about social media censorship, Trump retweets conspiracy site InfoWars and a far-right personality 'at the precipice of outright white nationalism'

https://www.businessinsid...ity-2019-5

After decrying the removal of several far-right personalities from social media platforms, President Donald Trump retweeted several people that espouse similar views, including Infowars contributor Paul Joseph Watson and Canadian far-right activist Lauren Southern.
Trump also retweeted videos from Infowars and from an unverified account called " Deep State Exposed."
Trump's rant on conservative censorship on social media follows Facebook's decision to ban several alt-right commentators and conspiracy theorists.
Deplatforming has proven to be an effective measure against commentators who knowingly spread false information, as Infowars founder Alex Jones has been accused of doing. Alt-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has gone into millions of dollars-worth of debt and cancelled several speaking tours after being removed from seversal social media platforms.
President Trump is a disgusting piece of shit.

You know the reasons they give for the bans are bullshit when "Praise of these figures, and expressions of support for them, also are to be prohibited." How is expressing support for a banned individual an expression of hate? How is banning such support in the interest of "safety"? Well, obviously it is not.

From the NY Post:

"This is purely a matter of tribal taboo. And if progressives are celebrating for the moment, it is only because they believe, wrongly, they have won a victory over their adversaries — when what has happened is that they have helped to establish the norm that our public discourse is to be moderated by the social sensibilities of the Fortune 500’s chief executives and their boards of directors.

Laugh all you like at Alex Jones. He is a kook. But Facebook, and other online platforms, are not going to stop with him."
