A lot of rich people are conservatives anyway. Typical bait post. Let's see a list of everyone involved and their party affiliations.

College Admission Scandal’s Other Big Names Are Titans of Finance and Law

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/13/business/college-scandal-mcglashan-caplan.html

...While two Hollywood actresses were the most recognizable figures to face charges, they were outnumbered by business titans who are not household names.

Mr. McGlashan is widely seen as one of Silicon Valley’s most powerful investors, a partner at the $103 billion investment firm TPG. The fund he oversaw there invested in prominent brands including Airbnb, Spotify and Uber. He has been placed on leave from TPG and Rise.

Also charged were Gordon Caplan, a top mergers and acquisitions attorney who was a co-chairman of the law firm Willkie Farr, and Doug Hodge, the retired chief executive of Pimco, one of the world’s biggest bond fund managers. Mr. Caplan was placed on leave on Wednesday, and Mr. Hodge’s name was stripped from the website of Sway Ventures, an investment firm where he was a venture partner.

Privilege comes with money.

nod Someone I know is dating this divorced wealthy guy - his daughter applied to Georgetown and got wait-listed so he made some calls and got her in. The daughter doesn't know - thinks she got in on her own merit. neutral Still - it's messed up.

Money talks. This whole thing is messed up because it’s the kids who will have to deal with all the criticism/backlash from what their parents did. They’ll always be questioned if their grades are fake or cheated on an exam.

This is shameful all the way around, but I'll be very surprised if anything meaningful happens to any of these people. There might have been one guy that was involved with the 2008 crash but nobody else really went to jail, and if nobody got prison time for that, it'll be surprising if anything happens as a result of this that isn't paying a fine and moving it along.

Class action lawsuits are being filed by students who didn't get into the various universities. This is a pretty big deal maybe.

Lori Loughlin‘s daughters are dropping out of the University of Southern California — because they’re afraid of being bullied over the massive college admissions scam that has left them feeling like “a mess,” a report said Thursday.

Olivia Jade, 19, and her sister, 20-year-old Isabella Rose, have decided to withdraw from USC days after their parents, “Fuller House” star Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were charged for allegedly paying the girls’ way into the school, TMZ reported.

One source told the gossip website the girls worry they’ll be “viciously bullied” if they return to school.

Can’t blame them. Many of those celebs’ kids got in by their parents cheating the system with bribes.

I kinda feel sorry for the parents. Paying for services rendered like hookers and diplomas and legislation and kickbacks and dropping all charges on all counts is not just the American way, money is the international language of love.

Yes but those kids had to have known, that they didn't row, and that's how they got into the school.

The other girl, Felicity's daughter also had to have known that her procter gave her extra time and she couldn't have scored 400 more points then her 1st test..

Apparently, and I’m not making this up..they had her ask for special circumstances given to special needs or kids with learning disabilities for the extra time and someone to be there for her that would be of “assistance” to her “special needs”

...as long as giving BJ’s for a promotion is still the natural way of succeeding in a career is never frowned upon, then we can all sleep well tonight.

Is paying for a hit-man still legal? What else are the two-face liberal elite going to say we can’t buy? lOVE?! As a mail-order bride myself I take that as personal insult.

Exactly! That’s what makes this especially gross. That ...and her getting sponsored ads on her instagram account for Amazon Student Prime. And posting about not really caring about school but just partying.

I actually tried to be sympathetic to the kid until you start reading and hearing more.

How much money do you believe a person could lose by not going to this school vs some other school?

And the MAGA cases are for a total of 525MILLION. and I said that even $25K was pushing it for his case. But they are also going to sue other people. Last I heard Bill Maher is on their list.

It’s about money. Anyone in a position to corrupt the system for their own benefit will likely do so. That’s just a basic biological trait. Nothing to do with race. We see this exact same thing in every culture around the world.

Hang on - I always had this idea that in the US, money, ie. how much of it your parents are in posession of, is a factor during college admissions? They flatly put it on their websites, ie. it's not even called a scam....?? I know people from here who've attended Ivy League colleges in the US, while not being, let's say, That Bright....? (Rich people, needless to say....)
