Camille Paglia: ‘Hillary wants Trump to win again’

The author and academic discusses 2020, Trump and Jordan Peterson

https://spectator.us/cami...ary-trump/

If the economy continues strong, Trump will be reelected. The Democrats (my party) have been in chaos since the 2016 election and have no coherent message except Trump hatred. Despite the vast pack of potential candidates, no one yet seems to have the edge.

(I've been looking for a dialogue along these lines.)

Excellent interview! Her insight on politics and Peterson are spot on.

And this quote is perfect:

"We’re back to the hypocrisy sweepstakes, where gestures of virtue are as formalized as kabuki. Humor has been assassinated. An off word at work or school will get you booted to the gallows. This is the graveyard of liberalism, whose once noble ideals have turned spectral and vampiric."

She gets it.

"Humor has been assassinated" ? Tell that the the award-winning SNL and it must account for the stellar ratings SNL and Colbert are enjoying.

Yeah, I remember when she chastised lesbians (even though she's supposed to be gay) - for not 'sparking on all cylinders' like straight women. This was years ago. She's a fame whore button pusher, period. I don't care how many degrees she has. She must need money.

I think grandma needs some attention. Her 15 minutes of fame were used up in the 1980's when she was obsessed with Madonna.

How is she wrong though? If Hillary's massive ego hadn't railroaded Sanders, we likely would have had him as prez instead of Trump.

The Clinton era is done and they need to back off and let the Democrats reimagine themselves without their influence.

Yesterday's news.

I still can't blame this on anyone's ego. It's too bad that apparently a few thousand fat, disgusting, tabloid-reading, earwax-examining, can't-play-an-F-to-save-their-lives dimwitted Democrats in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania got their poor little feelings hurt because Hillary didn't pay enough attention to them.

So they didn't vote. They really showed her!

When one's choices are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, I don't care about anything else. Fewer Democrats in those states voring in 2016 than voted in 2012 is what got Trump elected. In my mind, they and solely they are to blame.

"Yesterday's news." Hillary's ego was also what caused her to say terrible things about Obama when he beat her in the primaries because in her mind, she is owed the presidency, how soon we forget. How is what Paglia is saying wrong? Address that rather than ranting.

I think she's voicing the thoughts of a lot of members in the Democrat party. That's why they sat out last time and may very well sit out this time. It's very strongly possible that the simple either/or argument isn't enough to motivate that important part of the base. That's the base that got Obama elected. I'd personal like to see that address and not just focusing on either end of the extremes.

While I see some criticism of her I'm not seeing a lot of criticism that kind of raises flags in my book that a lot of people quietly agree with what she's saying.

Arguably, parts of almost anything can be agreed with. Let's just start with the ridiculous title ‘Hillary wants Trump to win again’ and where exactly that takes us in Camille's world view. And tell me exactly when there hasn't been a "hypocrisy sweepstakes"? Certainly not in my lifetime.

Frist of all, no love for the F-chord reference? That was just for you! Maybe you'll get a chuckle out of this (I know I did!):

Or perhaps this F-chord reference will ellicit a guffaw!

Now, on to the politics!

She said this: "He (Trump) is basically a pragmatic deal-maker, indifferent to ideology." Whoa, Nelly! She couldn't be more wrong. Trump has appointed nothing, and I mean nothing, but far-right-wing idealogues in his administration, in his courts, in his everything. Name one moderate with any influence at all. You can't. How Paglia missed that, I have no idea. She has fallen into the trap of watching what Trump says, rather than what he does.

Her one and only action message that I could find is "Bureaucracy is too big." She also weighs in with the "Hindsight Is 20-20" observation that all the Democrats and Republicans underestimated Trump during the 2016 primary and election. Duh. I am on record saying the same thing DURING the primary. Is she?

Poor American democracy. Poor naive voters, who accepted the travesty in the primary election and are mostly still fooled by what happened, yet think that a foreign government (without evidence) affected their election more scandalously than their fellow countrymen did (with evidence).
